  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 8, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) .900. As in OPS. But 90 works too, so that's fine. And that's why KW didn't trade Dye, because it's very likely he's going to be really productive this year. It's also why he hasn't signed him to an extension. I mean, honestly, name me one logical replacement for Dye's production. And Dye's a fairly notorious slow starter who really heats up along with the weather around the June mark. That alone is a good reason to think the Sox if they can hang with the pack at the end of this month in the Central, could get themselves on a little run if they continue to pitch the way they have ebcause the bats should definitely get better in the warmer weather.
  2. Still early days for Freddy, seems to be getting a bit better with each start but the longest he's gone is 6IP. Right now only Gio is making that trade seem a win on our end, although Floyd is still young if he can ever get it together. B-Mac on the other hand is probably pitching in the worst ballpark there is for him. He was always going to struggle in Texas, and the Rangers really need to have more groundball pitchers. He can still be a very good pitcher in the big leagues, I have no doubts about that, but getting Danks and Massett for him seems like a win for us, even though it's still very early days.
  3. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ May 8, 2007 -> 06:51 AM) Tevez rules-but West Ham is really a pretty good team. They waited a bit too long to get Tevez really comfortable & involved. Blow Those Bubbles I'll be blowing bubbles has gotta be one of the best songs in soccer easily. Spurs should definitely make the Euro cup. They've underachieved this year, although Carrick was a big loss. Darren Bent is probably leaving Charlton now as well, maybe for West Ham as a Tevez replacement?
  4. Let's hope Honel has a good outing tonight.
  5. He's basically going to get over $1M a start, which is well just insane. I think he'll do better than most people predict however because I think he's still a pretty good SP, and the NL to AL effect is a tad overblown IMHO. I wonder now, if anyone has the figures, how much are the Yanks paying every starting pitcher they have (including Pavano), and how much bigger is that amount compared to the next highest team?
  6. Eggy just keeps on doing his thing. Really good to see, and hopefully we'll see him at Charlotte soon enough.
  7. Nice job by Jon again. Nice to get some offense as well.
  8. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 11:11 PM) Looks like I could be wrong about this. 2 to play, and the Hammers are even with Wigan and moving in the right direction. Spurs look to have a shot at the top six as well after handling Boro yesterday -- even with Pompey with a game in hand. We are staying up, we are staying up. All comes down to Wigan vs. Sheffield United next week at Bramall Lane in Sheffield. Hopefully Warnock doesn't field a weakened team in light of the Tevez penalties. And oh yes, Carlos Tevez is good, REAL GOOD.
  9. This is one of the better articles I've read for a while, from Ken Rosenthal. Talks about the happenings at a ballclub behind the scenes (long read though);
  10. QUOTE(TLAK @ May 2, 2007 -> 10:58 AM) In Australian baseball do they run the bases counter clockwise? Only in Rand McNally. In all seriousness, if the game of baseball is ever going to do something down here, we need something like that. The national league went dead about 10 years ago, and we've barely heard a tremor about Aussie Baseball since then. And yes it would have to be 2 west coast teams. About a 15 hour flight each way from L.A to Melbourne.
  11. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 3, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) Ioway? Iowany? Iowanish? Iowanay? Johnny Appleseed wants Heads doing SSR Iowanish. Get it along the Amish theme at least.
  12. Best case scenario here is he rakes in Charlotte, and either forces the Sox's hand in recalling him (very unlikely) or building up his value enough so a team like Florida which needs a young center fielder, will decide to give up some young pitching for him. But I think the Sox really have to look at how they handle young players close to the majors, after seeing what has happened with Brian Anderson, and with his attitude.
  13. Well I'll wait and see what Terrero does for us before I'll pass judgement. But I agree with the majority of the sentiment around here in saying we need to do better. At least Terrero can handle CF defensively, but that need has really been reduced now with Erstad playing CF, and not moving much from there.
  14. QUOTE(ExpatNYC @ May 1, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) Would have been nice if he hadn't dealt Ross Gload. Well I'm still happy with that deal getting a very good young arm in Andy Sisco who's been ok out of the pen so far for us. We wouldn't be missing Gload if we have Eduardo Perez on the 25 man roster and BA was down in AAA. To me it almost seems like the Sox and Ozzie decided to punish Brian by letting him stay up, leave him on the bench and not getting him consistent AB's down in Charlotte, just to prove a point about his attitude.
  15. QUOTE(TheOcho @ May 1, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) Doubt they would trade him now... that kid is good. If we were willing to give up say Brandon McCarthy for him instead of trading him for Danks and Masset, then that would have certainly been a possibility. Toronto's always after starting pitching you have to remember, maybe even a Contreras or Garland would have gotten a deal done possibly?
  16. Start a contest on when the top 5 get released I say.
  17. Gio's certainly putting up some great numbers, and I don't think we could have hoped for anything more from him so far. However, you have to remember he's repeating AA and he's moved to a much better pitching envrionment, so I'd have to say what he's doing right now hasn't really shocked me. I think he'll be up at Charlotte at some point, and it'll be interesting to see what impact that has on his numbers and whether he gives up the long ball at a similar rate that he did last season for the Phillies AA affilate.
  18. Eduardo Perez would be handy right now wouldn't he. We'll just have to hope the likes of Dye and Konerko can step up while Thome is out.
  19. Kelvin Escobar, time to face Joe Crede again. Let's go SOX!!!!!!!
  20. I the new player setup. And hey some Brand New to kick things off. Very nice. And Jason I agree with Alex in saying your voice sounds deeper. Good show guys.
  21. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:08 AM) Anthony Spencer is gonna be a stud, loved watching him while at Purdue. Hopefully he can thrive as that 3-4 pass rushing OLB and become Phillips new version of Shawn Merriman.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 04:54 AM) I wish that OSU's Gonzalez would fall to the Bears pick in the 2nd round. He'd be a get there, and a nice fit for the current team, where Muhammad will still be considered #1, with a chance to grow into more. Any idea where Lorenzo Booker is going to fall? I know the Cowboys would really like to pick Gonzalez if he was available in the 2nd round as well. But you guys obviously have the earlier pick now because of the Jones trade. He could sneak into in the late 1st round possibly, depending on how many WR's get taken off the board early.
  23. Russell really pushing his cause for a callup to Charlotte soon. Problem is, there's a lot of other pitchers like Gio and Jack Egbert all doing the same.
  24. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) I'm pretty excited for it. Don't worry guys, we won't waste a whole show debating on Jack Egbert. Mainly because Heads isn't going to be on the show. I might try to go without mentioning him even just out of spite. Make it Aaron Cunningham instead and everyone's happy.
