  1. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) You don't trade for injury prone top prospects. Unless your getting them for a value. We would be getting robbed blindly in that trade. You either get Pelfrey in any package or you don't make a trade at all. He is a must have if you deal with the Mets. Otherwise keep Javy since we have him for 2 more years. Well if you added Heilman (as has been proposed in the Haren deal), to make it Heilman, Humber and Milledge, that certainly looks better from our end. I rate Humber pretty highly, but he does have arm issues like you've stated. Still I think he could certainly be a #2 starter at the major league level if he was healthy. But I'm still looking at Texas with Eric Hurley and John Danks first, before I talk to the Mets. So that's why I'm hoping Zito doesn't sign with either team.
  2. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) and a nothing prospect. I wouldn't call Broadway a "nothing" prospect, but there's no way the Yankees would do this. There was speculation a week ago that they wouldn't even trade Sanchez straight up for Mark Buehrle.
  3. Humber and Milledge. As much as I would like for the Mets to give up Pelfrey, I don't think they're going to do it. So take the next best prospects they have. I like the sound of Guerra as well. If the Sox acquired Milledge, they could either trade Pods for a backup catcher, or trade Brian Anderson to a team like the Marlins for some of their young pitching. EDIT: But I don't want to trade Javy, unless Minaya overpays. I'd rather trade Garland who you'd probably get more in return for than Vazquez I'd imagine.
  4. So who'd be left for you guys at DT if Johnson and Harris didn't play in the playoffs, and how much does that impact the Bears's ability to stop the run?
  5. Yeah that Freebird solo on Extreme can really take it out on your wrist / fingers pretty bad.
  6. QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 04:31 AM) high five. On the flip side. It's the lowest form of male communication though.
  7. Marty LaPointe. There's your grit Tampa. Trade LaPointe and you're rid of his $2.4M salary for next season. If you traded Aucoin for Calder, that's a total of what $6.4M (about that) that would be off the books in the off-season. I'd say Vandy's a good candidate to be moved though. Make sense with Bo/Barker/Richmond all doing well down in Norfolk and ready to play.
  8. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) 15 points, 20 rebounds, 5 blocks for Ben Wallace tonight in as dominant a game as I can remember seeing a Bulls center play, as he held Chris Wilcox, who is having a solid year, to 4 points and 3 rebounds. And Orlando loses, at home, to Toronto!??! What's up DBAHO?? We've hit our 1st mini slump of the season losing 4 of 5. Dwight's had 2 bad games in a row which hasn't helped, but Nelson, Turkoglu and Bogans all didn't play tonight. So we need to get it going again pretty soon.
  9. Prospal for Cully thanks. Realistically to get him, we'd probably have to give up Vandy.
  10. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) Oh yeah. But what I don't remember is WWE ever being on Fox. Seems like they've been on SPIKE and USA for the last ten years. I think that was from an Australian Cable TV program, that usually shows Raw and Smackdown down here. JR's reaction when Austin comes down though was priceless.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 14, 2006 -> 06:26 AM) I'd want Richardson if I am dealing with Golden State. Biedrins is a pretty damn solid player as well. Richardson's coming off knee surgery though, so he'd certainly be a risk. I think if the Warriors could get rid of either Davis or Richardson for Iverson, without giving up much else, they'd do it though.
  12. Hall makes sense as the backup catcher if the price is right. However he's probably going to want to go to a situation where he gets more playing time. Still he hits lefties very well, which is what we need for a backup catcher. Jerome Williams is a guy I'd take a look at. Yeah he's not a great K guy, and he didn't do anything in the majors this season. But a few years ago, he looked like he had a great future for the Giants, and he did put up a 3.91 ERA for the Cubbies last season, which if you did this season as a FA, you'd be in line for a $10M a season contract. I mean if we trade another starter, bringing in Williams to compete with Floyd, Haeger, Broadway and the young starter we would bring in from a trade couldn't hurt right? Pineiro makes sense as a reliever, but some team is going to want him as a starter. Scott Dohmann has a nice FB/Slider combo for a reliever. Could be worth looking at. On Jayson Werth, what I want to know is can he handle CF adequately defensively? If so bring him in for a bench spot, and have Terrero down at CF for Charlotte.
  13. The Bulls have to consider it from this point of view. The area they most need to upgrade is PF, everybody knows that. They need a low post scorer. Do you trade a guy in Ben Gordon who could be nothing more than a 6th man specialist in his career (I have serious doubts still he's ever going to make it as a starter) for a Troy Murphy, who's shown flashes of decentness, OR, do you hang Gordon and try to draft a PF in the draft if you miss out on Oden? What about trading Murphy for Gordon and then drafting a SG to replace Gordon in the draft? The N.Y Daily News is also throwing up the possibility of Davis and Biedrins for Iverson and Steven Hunter. If I'm Golden State, I keep Biedrins, don't want Hunter, and make it Patrick O' Bryant and Baron Davis for Iverson. Move Baron while he's hot and has value, because he's not a very good team player and extremely injury prone. At least Iverson plays through his injuries even if he's a ballhog.
  14. Reminiscing about the old WWF days a bit, anyone remember this crazy storyline?
  15. This will be a real good win, and argubly the best of Savard's coaching era in my mind. No matter what you think of the Blues as a team talent wise, it's always extremely hard coming up against a team with a new coach for the 1st game. And that'll be what 9 games we've gone with scoring a point in each game if we win tonight.
  16. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) Seen this on Stuy's board... Bill Clement apparently, tonight on whatever show he has on XM, said Vandy is headed back to Philly to play for his old minor league coach, Stevens. It's apparently a 1 for 1 in exchange for Calder...I sure hope this is only rumor and speculation, not reality. Maybe someone that has XM and heard the whole show can report more. I hope we would at least get a draft pick back as well, but Calder straight up for Vandy wouldn't kill me. What's Calder's contract situation again?
  17. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) They're not gonna keep him long term. They'd prolly jump at the chance to trade him for 2 more no names for the "future" So a former #4 pick, and a top 30 (argubly top 10 SP spect in baseball) are both no names? Ok then. But no, let's go for everything now, and see the likes of Buehrle, Dye, Iguchi leave for nothing, and then we sink back down the AL Central.
  18. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) The one thing about Vazquez's stats that doesn't show up is how he implodes in the 5th and 6th inning on almost every start. When he is on, he is a very dominant pitcher, which is normally the first 75 pitches, but after that his performance drops off significantly, then picks up again. Here are his numbers by pitch count for opponents BA and HR allowed. 1-15 - .245, 0 HR 16-30 - .185, 4 HR 31-45 - .225, 1 HR 46-60 - .248, 2 HR 61-75 - .287, 2 HR 76-90 - .361, 10 HR 91-105 - .241, 4 HR Besides for pitches 76-90, he is a dominant pitcher. He gave up 9 HRs in the first 75 pitches of a game, and he gave up 10 in the next 15 pitches. If somehow he could solve that issue, he would be a keeper. I know this was a MAJOR problem for Vaz at about the June - July period, and this is when I think most Sox fans started to hate the guy and wanted him shipped out of town. But in August he had an 3.41 ERA and in September a 3.82 ERA, which yes are small sample sizes, but it gives me hope that he started to "get it" in terms of what he needs to do to be successful. I mean in those 2 months, he only gave up more than 4ER once in 11 starts. If he can show that type of consistency for more than a couple of months next season, he'll be a VERY good pitcher for us, I have no doubts about that. I mean 50 K's in 5 September starts, the Sox don't really have a strikeout guy who can really dominate like that (unless Contreras is actually K'ing people when he's hot).
  19. Sean Payton had developed Tony Romo for the last 2-3 seasons, so I figure he would know his strengths / weaknesses very well. Still that's 2 weeks in a row, Romo's had a bad 1st half then tried to pick it up. So he needs to pick it up earlier in the game. But our defense, yeah NO's offense is good, but I didn't see this coming. Just seems like we can't cover Reggie Bush whatsoever.
  20. Please oh please draft a good kicker in the off-season Dallas. Romo needs to get it going, Jones has been running the ball well, but we can't make a stop on D. That's gonna hav to change if we want to win.
  21. It's going to be funny when the Bears lose their first playoff game this year.
  22. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) Wow, I didn't know there were this many Vazquez supporters in all of Chicago. DB, I've noticed you are all about the Texas prospects. Just a question, why are you so much more in favor of them over Houston's? As a side note, the more I read about Hirsh the less I am impressed. Seems he doesn't bring as much heat as I had thought. From what I have heard from some Astros fans, he has trouble topping 93 or 94. Anyone else concerned about this? Things that I've read on Hurley and Danks have really been good. John Sickles (minorleagueball expert) has a high opinion on both. Hurley throws in the 95-96MPH range and really came on well this season. Danks is a lefty, and has 4 pitches IIRC. Hurley could be a #1 starter (if he keeps improving like he did this season), while Danks is probably more likely to be a #2 or #3 guy like Gio. Since they're both younger than Hirsh, and probably have better stuff, I'd take either over Hirsh although Hirsh had a great season in AAA.
  23. That's B1 and B2 getting it down, FWIW.
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) agreed...add in a little comfort of not having to friggin move everything, and getting adjusted to the teams within his division, and I think he will have a very solid year for the Sox. Agreed * 2. If I was to move a starter it'd be Buehrle (if he ain't going to re-sign) or Contreras (but he has a no trade clause). So that leaves Garland or Vazquez. And I figure you get more for the former, although I think Vazquez will have a better season next year, in fact I think he could be our best starter next season possibly, although I know many people won't agree with me on that. Just stay away from that hanging curveball Vaz.
  25. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 11, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) What happened to the f'n Wonder Years? One of the greatest shows ever, and it's never on TV. I still can't understand that one. Ah yes, Winnie was HAWT as a kid growing up I have to say (apologies in advance if this is going to turn into one of those threads were everyone says who you had a crush one in your early years).
