  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 01:38 AM) Ive seen that Reds fans are calling for a trade for Sean Tracey. I say let em have Tracey. Sean Tracey for Ryan Wagner. What do people think about that?
  2. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 10:58 PM) Esp. with Lopez not having a spot in Chicago. Getting Riske now was a smart move, in case more injuries occur. Ozzie and KW don't want to be in the position of relying on rookies in the bullpen come Sept. The more solid major leaguer bullpen arms the sox have, the better. Esp. if a SP goes down, and they have to move Bmac into the rotation Riske not being well known in the REd sox system, and being on the DL for a month, didn't help either. A definite overpayment here for the Red Sox, getting that LOGGY guy. Interesting that Riske threw well in the Cell last year. The Sox being familiar with him certainly moved this deal along Lopez was never going to get a shot here. Boone Logan being up here and then Montero and Tracey was pretty much the writing on the wall for him there. And in a way I suppose that helped this trade. If he came up to the majors and didn't perform well at all, suddenly his value goes down quite a bit. Keeping him at Charlotte, a real good hitters stadium with a ERA under 1 was a good move in hindsight. It also showed how important Mike Myers was to Boston last season (doing a great job for the Yanks this season), and how they never really replaced him.
  3. QUOTE(G&T @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 05:52 AM) I don't know if Sweeney is even useful anymore. The problem for the Royals is that they don't get the right prospects. Nothing they get ever seems to pan out. It might seem obvious to trade guys, but the key is that this time they have to get the right prospects. I think at least now Moore will show if he does trade these guys, he'll get the best prospects he can get, and not ones that fill a need on his ballclub e.g Mark Teahan, John Buck and Mike Wood for Carlos Beltran.
  4. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) Which makes me wonder why Riske was expendable to the Red Sox. Is their bullpen so good that they can cast off Riske for a minor leaguer? I wonder how cleveland feels about a key member of their lights-out bullpen last year playing for the Sox? I think it was a panic move from Theo Epstein. They had no lefties, none in their system who were ready, and Riske was just the odd guy out. It's more of a trading for a need, but giving up the better player. Plus Fenway probably didn't suit Riske very well I'd say.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) You have to commend KW for not waiting till the end of July to pull the trigger on this, as well. Having Riske for the next 5 weeks could prove to be very beneficial. Absolutely, especially when you consider what Florida gave up for Ron Villione at the deadline last season. Suddenly, our bullpen has a lot more depth than a lot of other teams.
  6. Charlotte lost 4-0. Haeger gave up 4ER in 8IP, 1BB and 3K's. Fields 0 for 4 with 3 K's, Owens and Sweeney 1 for 3. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...d=t494&sid=t494 B-Ham lost 5-3. Good start for Tyler Lumsden, 8IP, 2R, 0ER, 3BB's and 4K's. ERA down to 3.12 now. West lost it with a blown save giving up 3 in the 9th. Schnurstein was 2 for 4, Nanita 1 for 3 with a HR and a BB, Getz 1 for 5. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...cmcaax_biraax_1 Winston - Salem lost 6-2. My AAP Jack Egbert didn't have a good night. 5IP, 4ER, 6BB's and 5K's. ERA up to 3.17 now. Lucy 1 for 4 and Kelly homered. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...wswafa_wilafa_1 Kanny won 2-1. Excellent start for another AAP for mine, Clayton Richard. 7IP, 1ER, 0BB's and 4K's. ERA down to 2.83 now. Gomes 2 for 4 with a 2B, hitting .300 now, maybe time for him to go back to W.S. Sanchez 2 for 4 with a 2B, suddenly he's on a streak and back up to .226. Orlando 1 for 3 in the #9 hole. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...augafx_kanafx_1
  7. Unless the lightbulb was down here. Then you'd have a problem..........
  8. Him actually striking out hitters should be the most promising sign for us. He's had problems doing that for the past season and a bit. If he can produce, there's a definite role for him here long term. Really was a fantastic trade by KW.
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) Anyone know how the search for our Liriano is moving along? Or have we resigned ourselves to the fact "he's a 1-1000 talent," "29 other teams would want him," or the money simply isn't put into heavily scouting Latin American countries? Well Flash would you rather the money to be put into the major league payroll, or money taken out from that and put it into the Latin American Scouting System? The Sox have actually been active in getting some guys like Francisco Hernandez, Paulo Orlando etc. into our farm system. Not saying it compensates for a Liriano, but I'm sure 29 other teams would love to have a guy like him too.
  10. For this weekend only, I'm off the Adam Scott bandwagon (unless he wins) and I'm on the Geoff Ogilvy one instead.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) Because it's Deputy Douche, aka, Dayn Perry. I hate him more than I ever have Mariotti. ^^^^. Although he did jump on the Pods is overrated bandwagon before Capn12 ya know.
  12. QUOTE(toasty @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) you can't replace gload with someone that cannot play 1B.... ozzie has repeatedly said thome will not see regular time at 1st... besides, ross is a good stick off the bench Rob Machowiak can play 1B, he's done it a couple of times in his career. I don't think having a backup 1Bman is a huge deal when you've got Paulie who will pretty much play every game for you there. And Gload only has 45 AB's this season and we're almost halfway thru the season.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Why would Milwaukee trade Lee? He's done nothing but his the s*** out of the ball for them the last 2 years? Because his contract finishes at the end of the season, and they may not have the $$$$ for a long - term to re-sign him. And they've got also got quite a few good OF's in their system who are close to being ready.
  14. Dustan Mohr got designated for assignment; Still interested in picking up an OF to replace Gload if you can tell.
  15. He's actually getting hits against lefties now this past week as well, which has been his main weakness on the season. And he's also starting to hit a little on the road as well. He's 7 for 19 for the past 5 games. Keep it up Brian, because we sorely need you to do that.
  16. I'm afraid the World Cup looks over for your team SoxFan1. Argentina's still my pick to win it all. They look very good at this stage.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) I think Fields and B-Mac probably would be musts. Than maybe we can give a guy like Broadway or Liotta... I think or I hope we would be able to hold on to Lumdsen and Sweeney since they seem overloaded on OF's anyways I think. They've got Josh Willingham and Jeremy Hermida, who should be their corner OF's for the next 5-10 seasons. They could do with a CF who has more talent than the likes of Ross, Abercrombie or Borchard. Actually looking at it now, Josh Fields would REALLY interest them big time if they were to move Miggy. He's the type of player they can control for 6 seasons at a pretty good price, and they wouldn't really have anyone to replace Miggy besides Wes Helms at the moment. Of course it's all speculation but it's fun to talk about nonetheless.
  18. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) I've never heard "Kotex Boy" used, but it's obvious who that is from the Ozzie-hating tone. "Kotex Boy" fits pretty well, I'd say. It was given to him by David Wells when he arrived in Chicago.
  19. Boy there are some idiots out there in this world.
  20. We're gonna hear about it, so here it is;
  21. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) I'ds take him. Legitimate defense for a CF, one of the toughest positions to play, showing good discipline with power increasing yearly. Problem is he's cheap, young and productive. He's probably thier best trading chip if the decide to put him on the market. Chances of us overpaying along with the chances of them trading to a division rival are slim. Yeah Dayton Moore's really going to want a lot for him, and so he should. They don't really have any prospects that are ready to take CF, and DeJesus is signed to a very affordable 5 year deal. He should be a building block for that organization. They need more DeJesus's and less Reggie Sanders'.
  22. It'd probably be worth for Russ just to take the rest of the year off, to just try and get that arm strength back up, so he can start throwing in the 90's again. But in any scenario, the only way he's going to have success is if he's with Leo Mazzone, and Leo himself is under pressure at Baltimore at the moment.
  23. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Unfortunately, I doubt Florida inquires about Crede considering his arbitration status expires one year sooner than Cabreras. It's obvious he'd depart as quickly as possible. McCarthy and Fields are two players which Florida would rather accept. Probably would have to throw in another prospect, perhaps Lumsden. Not a fan of any scenario in which McCarthy/Fields/Lumsden are packaged together; even for Cabrera. These types of deals have a way of backfiring. It would depend on where Florida are in terms of a stadium or relocation. Still if they were able to get say Crede, Sweeney and Liotta for Miggy, it would be an interesting offer for Larry Beinfest to consider. I really like the way Florida's building their team at the moment. Great middle infield combo in Ramirez and Uggla. And they've got Josh Johnson and Scott Olson providing good stuff as starters.
