  1. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) This type of thing is common for pitcher's with back pain. The pitchers don't flex the spine enough to finish the pitches and they leave the ball up. This in turn leads to more flyballs, increased HRs and decreased Ks. If hermie gets him on a good rehab program there is a chance for him to return to the Riske of old condidering he in only 28 and not losing his stuff. Well I'd make sure he's definitely 100% before we start using him frequently. I think we've actually got a little bit of depth in this bullpen now, because you've got Politte to come off the DL, and Tracey's in AAA and he showed he can get major league hitters out even though he's in Ozzie's doghouse ATM.
  2. In a deal for Miggy, would you rather deal B-Mac if you have to give up more, or deal Joe Crede if you could give up less?
  3. Ideally, Pablo should be in the lineup every game against a LHP at Pods expense, while on Tad's or Joe's day off, he should get the spot there as well. Ride him while he's hot.
  4. Reading some of the Red Sox's fans thoughts on Riske, his K numbers have decreased and he's a pretty big flyball pitcher apparently, so some possible warning signs there in terms of pitching at the Cell. Looking at the stats, 2004 K/9 of 9, down to 4.6 this season. Only a GB% of 41.9% with a HR/F of 15.7%.
  5. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 01:38 AM) Not sure why everyone assumed he'd replace Dye(??) -- he'd obviously replace BA with Pods moving over to CF -- but it looks like the poll is no one in favor. I agree. I just hope he doesn't end up in NY or Detroit. And you want Pods in CF?
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) The question was what would a decent reliever cost us. I beleive we got the answer today in Javier Lopez. So no. Long day Tony?
  7. Great deal by Kenny for a lot of reasons. When healthy, Riske has shown he can be very effective as a set-up man. His contract is quite affordable at $1.8M for this season only. And also, considering the cost of acquiring a reliever at the deadline last season (B-Mac for Villione), KW did a great job at only giving up Lopez, a journeyman lefty at best.
  8. QUOTE(Credepopsup @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:08 AM) A permanent move to a "lesser" Premiership club than Man Utd will do him some good (I hear he might be going to West Ham). He'll get enough playing time to improve on his overall game, and he might finally find a position to make his own - He gets played at Right Back, Left Back or Center Back at the moment, and that isn't helping him at all. He has lots of potential, but unless he gets to play regularly, I don't think that he'll fulfill it. Yep it's going to be confirmed (will be nice to have a Chicago connection at my club);
  9. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) you're joking right? well, personally i don't want the sox to be some pussy team thats afraid to retaliate after their players are getting intentional hit. Do you do it, at the cost of winning games though?
  10. I fear for Sean Tracey's future with this organization after tonight, and really that's quite sad. You all saw what happened to Jon Rauch when he left the ballpark, and I'm not saying this is going to come anything close to that. But you know what happens when Ozzie and KW don't like a guy (Carlos Lee), he gets shipped away. If I'm a team like Washington who likes our young arms and has dealt with us before (Rauch and Majewski), I'm onto the phone with KW tonight. Hopefully he doesn't make any rash decisions.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) If Russ Ortiz has any brains at all, he signs with Baltimore as soon as he's released. ^^^. And they need SP in the worst way too.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) I have no problem with that at all BUT we'd need to find a leadoff hitter to play short then. I hate to say it because I love Uribe's defense, but Cintron actually led off for Arizona a few seasons back.
  13. Chicago to win in all extra inning games please.
  14. Not really many healthy options here are there.
  15. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) I think maybe Rogowski and another player. I dont think we would have to sell the farm for Roberto Hernandez. I think the Pirates will want multiple prospects though, but not top prospects. Rogowski I can see Dave Littlefield being interested in, because they've got Sean Casey who'll be a FA after this season, and then Brad Eldred who's injured ATM IIRC. And Rogo could always possibly play a corner OF position as well.
  16. QUOTE(Heath @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 05:15 AM) Reds fan here - You can have Ryan Freel - but don't get him used to Old Style. But, we need pitching in the worst way. Someone mentioned Chris Denorfia, and he's about the closest thing the Reds have to major league prospect. He's around in case Kearns or Griffey goes down. Yeah I've been the one mentioning about Denorfia. I figure that since the Reds may keep Dunn, Griffey and Kearns all in the OF, a gut like Denorfia, if you offered bullpen help could be had. Freel and Wagner would be interesting though. I think Wagner needs a change of organization pretty quick, and I'd like to see what Don Cooper can do to him because he's obviously got some issues. What's Ryan defense like in CF? If he was acquired, he could pretty much replace Pods for next season as well. Don't know what we could offer you guys though. We've got plenty of SP prospects, otherwise the only other guy I could think of is Jon Garland, who'd have to waive his no trade clause. Doubt we would move B-Mac, who you guys would probably like.
  17. Hopefully for Herm's sake, he can make it back out on the mound for a team at some point in the next few years. But with his and Politte's deals up at the end of the season (combined salary around $5M IIRC), we'll definitely be after 2 veteran set-up pitchers this off-season.
  18. San Diego could be a team that would love to have Josh Fields at 3rd base. Problem is, their 1st round choice in this year's draft, Matt Antonelli is also a 3rd baseman, and could be ready in a season or 2. But I've long thought, if you wanted a mega trade package, if you offered Garland and Fields for say Linebrink, Cassidy and 2 real good prospects .............
  19. 1 - What pitches do you have in your arsenal? 2 - Which minor level would you most like to start out in? 3 - Was there any particular team you wanted to be drafted by? 4 - Were you suprised or dissappointed at being picked in the 6th round? 5 - What are some things you need to improve in the future to make the majors?
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) Ya, no one saw that coming..... :headshake Dang I was hoping they would hold onto him for at least the rest of the season.
  21. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) Croatia did alot for themselves with just the one goal loss to Brazil. Even if they don't beat Japan by 2, I imagine Brazil will come out vs. the Aussies on Sunday with something to prove after their narrow victory. Croatia-Australia will be a great match if a quarterfinals berth is on the line. Yeah it will be. And there's a bit of extra spice to the game, because Croatia has a few players that could be easily playing for Australia instead like Josip Simunic the central defender. Croatia's got an excellent defensive record, so they'll be tough to break down. I just hope Japan can pull out a draw with them.
  22. Charlotte won 7-3. Randolph won his 6th of the year, 7IP, 2ER, 0BB's and 7K's. ERA down to 2.74 now. Fields 1 for 4 with a HR, 11th of the season, Sweeney 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's hitting .309 now. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...d=t494&sid=t494 B-Ham won 6-4. Rodriguez won, 7IP, 2ER, 1BB and 1K. Getz 2 for 4 with 2 2B's hitting .261 now. Collaro 2 for 4, and Nanita 2 for 4. Nanita's up to .289. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...cmcaax_biraax_1 Winston - Salem won 8-5. Quickman's favorite prospect Wes Whisler did the job again. 7IP, 1ER, 4BB's and 3K's. Control problems are still an issue for him, but that's about 3 or 4 real good starts he's had in a row now. ERA down to 3.38. Smith homered twice. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...frdafa_wswafa_1 Kanny also won (wow all 4 teams won tonight) 11-4. Flores won with a 5IP, 4ER, 3K line. Gomes and Orlando 1 for 6, Hernandez 1 for 4 with a 2B. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...kanafx_hicafx_1

    Garland

    He seems to like pitching against Texas so far this season. Hopefully he can build on this. He had quite a few groundball outs tonight.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) Better cuts coming from Anderson. And he hasn't K'ed in 3 AB's so far tonight.
  25. Tex hasn't had a good year hitting the longball though.
