Figure it's time I started a game thread again, think I'm 2-0 so far this season, so Heads you'll have to wait for a day. Really need to take this game and keep the pressure on Detroit. Buerhle vs. Zambrano so it'll probably be a low scoring affair. Getting crucial hits with RISP, could be very important, the Cubs are terrible at it, while we're one of the league's best. That'll need to continue today.

Has anyone played Guitar Hero before? I bought that the other day with the guitar, and I've found it real enjoyable so far.

Bump, didn't see this posted;

Bad news for Phoenix; Man the Clippers may be my pick for the West right now. Would depend if they could re-sign Cassell though, and I assume Radmanovic is leaving to join the Lakers who have offered him more at this stage, as it says here. Big Ben news; And Swift ain't stayin in Memphis it appears;

QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) *Contreras needed a yr to turn his career around. Vazquez may need similar time. If he hasn't corrected his problems by then, he won't have that yr with the sox to turn it around. This is the big thing right here. Can the Sox afford to be patient with Javy, because if they can, I think we will see similar results with what Jose has done for the past 12 months. It will depend if KW can move Freddy or Jon for the right offer. Coop just needs to re-inforce to Javy how important it is not to make the big mistakes that are really costing him the big innings right now, because he definitely has the stuff to succeed, we all saw that at the start of the season.

Smith's a SG. And he'd be a fantastic acquisition for most teams. I don't know if he would fit into Skiles high demanding style of his players though. Smith did have a run in with Byron Scott after all. But if I'm Chicago I'm all over that deal. That way you could trade Gordon, or put him back to the 6th man role, and have Smith starting.

I can assume 29 other organizations would love to have a Matt Garza in their system as well. And no, Broadway didn't have a good start, 5IP, 6ER, 0BB's and 3K's. ERA up to 3.15 now.

Wow; Don't think anyone saw that coming.

BA's hit around .200 since June. With the value he gives you defensively over Machowiak, there's no way he should be replaced, simple as that.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 04:34 AM) Christian Ronaldo might want to find a new club team. He's wants to go to Real Madrid anyways. -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) BC is trying to turn the Raptors into the Suns. Yep, and they'll be much better for it.

T.J Ford will be the perfect fit for Colangelo in their high tempo offense. Looking Villenueva hurts, but now you see why they took Bargnani instead of trading down to get a Marcus Williams. Toronto may very well be in the playoffs next season the way they're going. Got a pretty solid starting 5 in Rasho - Bosh - Graham - Mo Pete - Ford.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 10:16 AM) I'll counter with Figgens and a top pitching prospect for Garland. Good luck with that one.

She beat out Jessica Simpson and Kristin Cavallari for the role apparently. EDIT: Which I would have known if I read the thread title.
-
Will Bill Stoneman pack it in though? They've designated Jeff Weaver and called back up his brother, who if he continues to pitch like he has, could help the Angels get right back into the AL West race. I'd love to acquire Figgins though. Don't know if Sciosia or Stoneman will let the likes of Morales, Kotchman, McPherson develop and play everyday at the major league level though.

Good solid performance again today. Uribe's really picked up with the bat, and we needed him to, especially with those in the middle of the order not producing as highly as they were at the start of the season. Shows how important a balanced deep lineup is. Good to see 3 scoreless innings of relief as well. That aspect has imporved signifiacntly since the Riske acquisition.

pokerroom.com mainly, although I have been playing a little bit of Stacked by Daniel Negreanu lately as well.

It's just like last season really. Teams who aren't doing well aren't going to give up their best talent because they're sick of losing, and unless they get a great deal with top notch prospects e.g the Ron Villone deal, you probably won't see many deals again. Will be interesting to see if the Yanks will actually trade Phillip Hughes for Lee, Willis or Zito.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 08:03 AM) I'll keep it short for SoxAce. What you're doing is exactly what everyone else does. Shrugs their shoulders and go, "oh well -- every team would want a Liriano." I imagine there's a large group of people who think similarily working in our minor league system. They feel the odds are we're not going to find one, so why do anything? It's of their own makings they're consistently in the position to not only have a player on the level of Liriano, but one even capable of average production. One, granted, is due to our consistently average record which has limited high draft picks. Nothing you can do there. Another, which is entirely our fault, is our inability to develop talent from Latin American countries. Since Lee and Ordonez' promotion in the late 90's, we haven't even had a player on par with Neifi Perez arise from our Latin scouts. It's pitiful to ignore such a large baseball rich area of the world. If we're EVER going to find a Liriano, it's going to have to either be from scouting or a trade. Even if such odds increases from 1/10,000 to 1/5,000, atleast make some effort. Watching Minnesota locate both Santana and Liriano (and I realize neither are products of Minnesota's system) just aggrivated me beyond belief. There's a reason both stud lefthanders just happened to be on Minnesota. Their scouting directions obviously values pitching prospects with velocity. You can't teach velocity. When I observe our club drafting Broadway and McCulloh it's evident we're more concerned with "safe" pics with low potential than high pics which may be risky, but have a high ceiling. Go ahead and tell me about Nick Lemon or another bust, but I'd rather have 15 straight busts if it even gives us one Liriano. We have to counter those two. I don't care how ridiculous that sounds, we need results from a group of scouts who haven't done s*** in nearly a decade. I'm not going to sit by and watch Liriano/Santana mow through us while Lance Broadway is considered one of our top pitching prospects. That just won't work for me. Now, either you can again shrug your shoulder and just accept every 10K shutout from either for the next 7 years, or realize there's a group of people working for the White Sox who aren't doing their jobs. Join with me people -- Where's our Liriano? Flash are you still on this crusade? How many other organizations would love to have a Santana and Liriano right now? Every single one. And yet how many do? Only 1. Did Seattle sign Felix Hernandez to a huge signing bonus or anything when they signed him? Not IIRC. Minnesota are active in their scouting and farm system because it's the only way they're going to be successful. They don't have the payroll of other teams in this divison? Would you rather have a smaller payroll like them if it meant more money came out from our payroll and into our international scouting? If you had 15 high risk pitching prospect busts in a row, that alone is significantly going to hinder your chances of making deals at the deadline, or any trades in general. We got Jim Thome because we had 2 solid SP prospects in Gio Gonzalez and Dan Haigwood. The Sox have been succesful drafting pitchers like Buerhle who don't have great stuff but know how to pitch. Who says you have to strike out 10 hitters each outing to be succesful in the majors? We don't want to turn into the Yankees and be a team that has no prospects at all, and therefore most of our team will be made up of high priced FA's. Amazingly enough, we have developed pitching in our minors whether it's from our own in B-Mac, or from a trade in Cotts.

Gotta take the series here, and not settle for just winning 2 out of 3. Detroit ain't doin us any favors right now, so we shouldn't either.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) I don't know if it meant anything or not, but Mitsubishi's last two outings were very impressive. I was scared when he came out for the 7th last night, but he looked damned good. Hopefully that means we found yet another diamond in the rough, but I am glad to see Cliff back at the sametime. Either way, it's really good to know we've got 2 guys in AA in Tracey and Montero who could probably be in a lot of other major league bullpens right now.
