QUOTE (Cowch @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) I get to see Boozer play all the time living in Utah, I enjoy his game. He always comes with an injury risk, but just like the rest of the Jazz he's usually underrated. I'm so glad that the Bulls AT LAST have a low-post threat. How long has it been that they've needed one? Since Elton Brand got traded to the Clippers.
-
Utah's not gonna have any interest in Deng when they already have Kirilenko under contract. They want to get under the luxury tax zone.
-
Spain should go in as the favorites I'd say. Holland will need either Robben or RVP to play really, really well to have any chance IMO.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) Maybe, but the Celtics had at the minimum solid defenders at every position. Perkins helps make the Celtics a great defensive team but it isn't like KG, Pierce, Allen and Rondo needed Perkins to turn them into competent defenders. Still if you have a dominant defensive big man, your perimeter defenders can get away with a lot of mistakes if they get blown past off the dribble just because they've got that security behind them.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) Boozer has been running the pick and roll as much as any big man in the NBA the last few years so Boozer could play in either system with ease. My problem with Boozer is that he is one of the worst low post defenders I've seen and he has a really hard time finishing against big men with length. He missed some incredibly easy shots against the Lakers because of his lack of length and athleticism. And that's the worry in those 2nd round matchups in the playoffs he'd be up against the likes of KG, Howard a little bit etc. But TT can probably improve Boozer's overall defense a little by playing him next to Noah. The Celtics had Perkins for instance who's an excellent post defender.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) I'd rather the Bulls target Lee instead of Boozer. He'll play all 81 games, and is 2 years younger. And I think Thib could help turn him into a passable defender. Plus, the Bulls window for a title is probably closed for the next 4 years. Go with the younger of the 2, imo. It depends a lot on whether TT wants a pick and roll type of offense, or whether he wants more of a low post guy to go through with outside shooters on the perimeter. I think you make a good argument for Lee over Boozer though, but you never know how Lee is going to play in a different system, which is the risk.
-
Gasol vs. Bosh would be quite an interesting argument actually. I'd probably go with Bosh only because he's a little bit younger.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Not a good time to come in here and proclaim how much you hate the Bulls. Enjoy being the 2nd best team in Florida, btw. If the Heat don't end up with Lebron but say Felton and Haywood instead (or Miller and Rudy Fernandez has been mooted), then it's debatable who the better team is.
-
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Sorry bro but Bosh has been a hatable f*** since free agency began, regardless of where he signed. But alright. What I'm saying though is that if he signed with Chicago, everyone would love him. This is the FA process unfortunately, it doesn't make it fair what Lebron and to a lesser extent what Wade and Bosh are doing, but it is what it is.
-
And now everyone's turning on Bosh. This is just 2000-2001 all over again after the Magic signed Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady and the Bulls ended up with Eddie Robinson.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) Dude, outside of college football, Miami is a horrible sports town. This has been fact for years. They'll get behind the Heat now though, just like they did when they won the championship a few years back, call it bandwagon fans or whatever. But clearly Bosh didn't pick Miami over Chicago because Chicago had the better roster or it's a bigger "sports town". The lifestyle, warmer weather, no state income tax, and the chance to play with 2 other max FA's potentially sealed the deal.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Just saying that people in Miami don't give a s***. How so. Because the United Center can fit more people in its building than the American Airlines Arena?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) The attendance argument? How about those Cubs? Well played sir.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) Problem with the 3 of them going to the Heat is that they would have no money left. It would be the 3 of them and 9 other guys on minimum contracts. 2 superstars, one all star and a bunch of D-leaguers. One injury and that team goes to crap. Everyone was arguing that it was always Lebron on 5 in Cleveland, well, it potentially is Lebron and Wade (or Bosh) on 5, which is nearly as bad. These guys aren't THAT good, especially against teams with other all star calibar players. IMO Lebron/Rose/Noah/Boozer/Deng + bench is nearly as good as Lebron/Wade/Bosh/nobody/nobody and a nobody bench. Miami drafted 4 guys in the early 2nd round IIRC, and there'll be some veterans who'll play on the minimum in Miami in order to win a champiosnhip e.g Raja Bell

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Make me feel a little better about not getting Bosh: sportsguy33 Chris Bosh: 7 seasons, 1 2nd-team All-NBA, 0 All-D's, 5 lotteries. Career: 211-320. Playoffs: 3-8. No more calling him a "superstar" please. Have you seen the talent he's had around him for those 7 seasons though?

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) This is an area that I have to disagree a little. Both guys are career 54% shooters, and Boozer offers a better low-post game while Amare can step out and hit jumpers. Amar'e might be an inch taller, but Boozer is at least 15-20 pounds thicker and is almost impossible to move inside. Both guys are atrocious defensively, and Amar'e is only a little less than a year younger than Boozer. Both guys have had their injury troubles, but Amar'e relying on his athleticism would bother me more than Boozer and his bulk usage. Not to mention that Boozer will actually pass the ball out of the post for an open jumper. Yeah Boozer's strictly a low post guy, while I think Amare's more of a face up, roll to the basket / pick and roll type of offensive player. And the Bulls desperately need a low post threat, they've been crying out for one for a decade or so. But I'd be a little worried at Boozer's numbers this season in a contract year also. Last season he really struggled, and so many people in Utah wanted him out, albeit he only played 37 games. He's certainly not worth max money, but he'll probably get a 5 year deal at around $14M a season or so, I would have thought, maybe more.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Amar'e's knees aren't going to last. I agree that Boozer is fools good and Amar'e would have been good with Rose, but he's still a major health risk that doesn't defend (he did a little last year, but he'll go back to not even pretending to care about it now that he got paid) and doesn't rebound as much as he should. Yeah there's risks absolutely, but the Bulls could end up with either Lee or Boozer instead and not be paying much less. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Amare's not good at defense himself. No, but he offers a lot more on the offensive end than Boozer does. And at least Amare is bigger also, which in Thibodeau's defensive system would be a big advantage.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) No way they should have, not with his health. And even beyond his health, we'll see how he does without Nash. That might have been even dumber than overpaying for Boozer would be, but the Knicks were willing to do it to avoid coming up empty and make Carmelo even more interested in going there. That contract won't look good the last couple years of it though. Amare's better than Boozer. Signing Boozer is a bit of fools gold. At least Amare can be a real difference maker, and he'd still be playing with a great PG in Chicago with Rose if he had that opportunity. Boozer would just give you some doubles - doubles, and be terrible defensively. Amare's only in his late 20's also, so it's not like giving someone such as Ray Allen a 3 or 4 year deal for instance.

Inception got 5 stars on IGN the other day, and I'm a huge fan of Nolan's work. People are predicting it's going to win a lot of academy awards potentially next year also. Cannot wait to see this.

I'm surprised that people on here actually thought Wade to the Bulls was a distinct possibility. Everything leading up to FA lead to the fact out of all of the superstars, Wade was the one most likely to re-sign with his own team. And now people on here are going to turn on him just like they did when he criticised the Bulls about the way they handled past players etc. Once Wade stays in Miami, if you're Bosh, of course you are going to go to Miami for numerous reasons over Chicago. Maybe Chicago should have done more to try and have signed Amare?

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) What pisses me off the most is that Bosh is going to sign for 96 million dollars and isn't demanding a S&T. WTF? So if the Heat don't have to do a sign and trade, they can use Beasley and Chalmers in other sign and trade deals. Big win for them.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) More Woj - The Bulls very much got swindled by World Wide Wes. Bulls hired Thib and moved Kirk solely based on guarantees given from Wes. Haha, wow that's just hilarious as a non Bulls fan for an organization to put so much trust in 1 guy if true.
