Summer Drinks
Since I've been in London, all the girls here drink nothing but Pimms it seems. Basically it's gin, you mix it with lemonade and put all sorts of fruit into it. It's actually quite nice, quite sweet, but I'll stick to Beer I think going forward.

Vacation, Where are you going?
QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Eat at Noma in Copenhagen, recently named #1 restaurant in the world Sounds pricey. I've got a mate over there, so I'm planning to go over for a w/e to go boozing pretty much.

Vacation, Where are you going?
QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) I think I am gonna drivem to Nashville with the lady one of these extended weekends. Go check out Jack's BBQ if you're out on the main street in Nashville. Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Nashville is a LOT of fun though.

If we do get back in this. . .
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 05:59 PM) Way to streaky for my taste. He'll get hot and hit you 12 homers in a month, then the following month you will be lucky to get 12 total hits out of him. Well you ride him while he's hot, and then put in Jones / Kotsay when he's not. All depends on what you have to give up for him though.

Copenhagen or Barcelona sometime in the next 2 months potentially, probably the latter.

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) He was a stud defensively during international play. I think the big problem is Toronto runs a system that doesn't allow you to do much anything defensively. Yeah that's probably true, although PHX showed with Alvin Gentry that you can play a fast paced system and a little defense also. But he's not surrounded by much good defensive talent in TOR, and if he went to Chicago he'd looked a lot better defensively straight away playing in Thibodeau's system.

6/19 Games
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) The guy has power. He just hasn't shown it during the games. You watch him take BP and the ball bombs. I don't know what it is or why he hasn't, but the in game power just hasn't shown up for the most part. But the projections all indicated he would be a guy with 30 HR power. I remember he smashed a few balls when we both saw him in Spring Training at Camelback last year, and considering he was a supplemental 1st round pick, he certainly does have that sort of talent, but in 2009 at least it just wasn't a good year for him at all. I think he's definitely one to keep an eye on in the years ahead though (as is Santos Rodriguez who was the other player in the Vazquez / Flowers deal).

The knock on Bosh has always been his defensive ability IIRC. But putting Noah next to him seems like a pretty good solution I'd say.

Travel from California to Virginia ..
If you wanted to be really, really cheap, there's always the megabus / greyhound, but you'd need about 10 separate trips I'm assuming. Amtrak seems like a pretty good solution though.

Luke Scott's probably the best cost effective player I've seen mentioned so far in this thread.

Are you in or out
Until they show they can beat Minny or Detroit in the 2nd half of the season, I'm still out. Just don't think this team has enough offensively, and you can't rely on the pitching to be as good as it's been over the past week and a bit.

Chris Sale signs for a bargain; expected in majors this year
Great work by KW and everyone involved in the drafting process to get this one done. Adding Sale to our pen would certainly give Ozzie a lot of high velocity arms in there to choose from.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) The ref has destroyed the Chile-Switzerland game. On the whole, FIFA should really be ashamed of the performance from the referees so far. Just stupid from Behrami (who plays for my club) though. No way should you raise your arms in that situation.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) Wow, Portugal taking it hard to North Korea, up 7-0. I hope Kim Jong Il takes it easy on these guys when they get home, some of them might end up missing after this result. Yeah the Shark Tank could be quite active pretty soon after this one.

YET ANOTHER WHITE SOX WINNER
If only Peavy could pitch against NL teams every week. Not a pretty offensive performance, but the pitching has been huge recently. Let's hope it keeps up.

Cleveland's gonna offer up Mo Williams, Jamsion and Hickson for Bosh and Calderon apparently.

I think Hedo will end up back in Sacramento somehow if they can make a deal work. Geoff Petrie's still a pretty big fan of his.

Well I think we definitely deserved a point out of that one, much better performance. Have to beat Serbia 3-0 to qualify apparently, and I can't see that happening. I could b**** about the referee considering we probably could have had a penalty early on but I won't do that. Think his performance besides that incident was pretty good throughout.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
Certainly made things a little more interesting since interleague play. I'm not going to get my hopes up about this team though unless we can take care of things in our division, which we certainly haven't done so far. But obviously when the starters pitch well, this team has a chance to do well even if the offense can't score consistently.

Quite an experience watching that game in a packed British Pub in London and seeing the mood of people just go downhill as each minute passed. Rooney was terrible, and Capello has too much faith in him right now. He's playing too deep and not getting into goalscoring positions. They have no creativity in midfield and they need to play Joe Cole. As for the ref, yes he was terrible but the US will probably get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to decisions in their next game, and other teams have been screwed by refs in this tournament as well so far, so the USA haven't been alone there. It happens to everyone, it's just luck of the draw. And a lot of them don't speak English, FIFA basically get the best from each conference IIRC.

Well so long as you beat Algeria, you should still qualify. Don't see England losing to either Slovenia or Algeria, but you never know.

To be fair, you could argue that the ref was worse in the earlier game today. But it hasn't been a good day for the referees so far.
