Steve Kerr leaving the Suns. Sarver certainly is quite the tight-arse owner. I'm sure Kerr will get another GM job if he wants it. He'll probably replace Doug Collins on TNT though for next season. Also probably improves the chances of Amare leaving I'd say.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) Campbell ain't going anymore most likely though. No one wants the cap hit on a good defenseman getting paid like a top-three defenseman. Huet better be in Rockford next year. To me we have to keep Niemi and Hammer over Steeger and even Sharp. One good thing is that if we trade for draft picks, we are a terrific drafting team, so we could just reload on youngsters. Huet's salary cap hit is probably equal to Hammer and Niemi's combined next year (give or take $500,000) so it's clear he is off the books. Then really, it's just gonna be youngsters filling out the roster: Beach, Skille, Aliu and maybe even one of our young D-men. Good thing we have of minor league talent. I suggested Atlanta for Campbell because they were our main competition when we signed him, and now that they've lost Kovalchuk, I'd suggest they'd have quite a bit of cap room to spend. Keeping Niemi is a definite no brainer. If Columbus offers you the #4 pick for Sharp, that's a deal you can't turn down either. You can get a player there who could probably play in the NHL almost straight away.

I think if you can't deal Huet, you've got to have him in Rockford, not have that $5.5M count towards the cap, to be able to keep the likes of Sharp and Versteeg around. I'd try and move Campbell to a team that needs a puck moving d-man like Dallas or Atlanta, but that's probably wishful thinking. Another team is probably going to give up the most talent for Sharp I would have thought, so I think he's a good candidate to be gone from next season. How much is Niemi going to want also with his new contract is also going to be an issue. Going to be a very busy summer for Bowman.

Not a good day to be an Aussie after that result. Ugh.

Not really surprised that we're seeing more articles like this, all I can say is get used to it if we continue to struggle. I want Ozzie out and a new manager brought in, but as each day passes, I get worried that KW is going to become an executive and Ozzie will stay on next season, which is a worst case scenario.

And you could be right BLAZE, Italy in a bit of trouble at HT.
-
I probably hate Pierce more than anybody on that team, and that's even considering how douchey KG and Rondo both are. Pierce is just so smug IMO.
-
Fairly good win for the Dutch, got stuff to work on, but they looked pretty good in the 2nd half. Van Persie needs to find some form though.
-
Well I thought that may happen tonight, we weren't in that great form leading up to the match, and our central defenders looked old and slow, and we got what we deserved. And with Cahill to miss the Ghana match it's gonna be very hard to qualify from here.

As a West Ham fan I felt pretty bad for Green last night, but you just can't make those type of errors in a World Cup, David James will get the nod next game you'd think. Playing Heskey next to Rooney was just a horrible decision by Capello, should have gone with Crouch.
-
So where is everyone watching the game today? I'll be at a house party with about 10 Brits, and I'm still to decide who to go for (per my facebook status).

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) Yeah, but really South Africa doesn't have much outside of Pienaar. True, but even Pienaar wasn't very good at all today and they were still very competitive. And with the crowd behind them, I think they'll go onto win against Uruguay (Australians hate Uruguay when it comes to Soccer BTW). And Domenech is simply a horrible, horrible manager. Anelka up front on his own, Malouda on the bench, and they played so negatively.
-
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) The announcers didn't even mention that rule, but it was referenced in the studio at halftime. Horrible rule IMO. I didn't realise it was a rule and I've been watching football for a good 10 years or so now, just because I've never actually seen it come into play before. South Africa can beat Uruguay IMO. Uruguay have Forlan and Suarez, but if you can stop those 2 they don't have much else.
-
1-1 a pretty fair result I would have thought. South Africa would want to work on their off-side trap defence going forward though.
-
What are people most looking forward to for E3? I'm holding out hope than Valve is gonna announce Half Life 3 (since there'll be no announcement on Half Life 2 Episode 3). Been waiting for that game for almost 3 years now. Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 trailers would be good also.
-
If you are behind the goalkeeper even if there's a guy on the line, it's still off-side. Franco's missed too many of his chances (same story for West Ham this season pretty much). Time to get Hernandez on.
-
Well Dan Gilbert probably had to make a "wow" move like that for them to have a better chance than not of keeping Lebron, even though they're still the favorites I'd say.
-
Mexico play very attacking, South Africa have to get them on the counter.
-
So you'd rather KW keep twiddling his thumbs and do nothing for the rest of the season?

Guillen, Williams almost come to blows during shouting match

Was bound to happen sooner rather than later. The situation just simply needs to be dealt with right now. Wonder if Ozzie has his eye on the Marlins job for 2011, and will instruct Ozney to stay with South Florida going forward. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:14 AM) I think overall its hard to bet against Spain or Brazil. Argentina. Dutch also have good squads. If I was betting Id go with Brazil, Spain always seems to fail. As for tomorrow, France 2-0, Mexico 2-1 The Dutch are the wild cards for mine. If Van Persie gets back to his early season form for Arsenal and Robben is 100% healthy, I could easily see them win it all.
-
South Africa and France both to win, the latter easily. As for the tournament, I'm going with Spain.
-
Eh 36% ain't too shabby at all.

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Football Thread

I think I read something a while back about Rutgers possibly moving conferences (they're pretty much the only college I am interested about due to see actually seeing a couple of their games in person). -
QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) Possibly? More like definately. They will not give Pujols' money to Mark Buehrle. I was saying possibly in terms of how the Sox are going to sell MB if they want to deal him. As I said in another thread, I've got no doubt MB would go to the NL and produce very good numbers from the get go, teams in the AL (the AL Central in particular) have seen too much of MB over the years and know how he operates. No doubt that locking up Pujols is the Cards' #1 priority.
