Ferdinand's definitely out, been ALL over the news here, Michael Dawson been called up to replace him. It's a HUGE loss for England because Ledley King can't play back to back games because of his knee, while Matty Upson didn't have a good season for my team West Ham.

Joe Cowley says our season is over: do you agree?
DBAHO replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I voted for yes, I'm usually an optimist but I just can't see us getting close to Minnesota this season, not when our SP has been below average besides Danks, and our hitting is just subpar as per usual. Major changes need to be made (whether that's coaches, Ozzie etc. we'll wait and see), but I don't know if it'll be happening. -
Hmm;

That's a damn big sinkhole. Makes me wonder why we didn't see anything like that after what happened in Haiti.

Israeli soldiers open fire on aid convoy trying to enter Gaza
DBAHO replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
Whoever's fault this ends up being, you'd have to say the relationship b/w Turkey and Israel has been severly damaged by this. -
We just beat Denmark in South Africa 1-0. Think it's at the same ground where we'll be playing the US this w/e. Couple of observations; The pitch was very sandy, making it pretty hard to get a good passing game going. Hopefully this isn't an issue at all of the stadiums (I assume it won't be). The ball they'll be using at the World Cup swerves a lot especially at altitude. That said, it looked hard to actually get any height on it, especially at corners which all seemed to be very flat. Get used to having to put with loads and loads of horns being blasted in the background.

Floyd Landis tests positive for testosterone

QUOTE (Tex @ May 29, 2010 -> 03:34 AM) Can we all agree that cycling was about the dirtiest sport out there for PEDs and other medical maneuvers? Yep I'd agree. The sad thing about this, is that Cycling's actually done a pretty decent job on this issue ever since the Operacion Puerto incident that lead to the suspensions of the likes of Ivan Basso (who just won the Giro de Italia) for 2 years back in 2006, and Landis has to bring Cycling's reputation into the muck again trying to clear his name when everyone knows you can't trust a single word that comes out of his mouth. -
QUOTE (juddling @ May 31, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) Saw Sherlock Holmes and the Blind Side. Both were ok. glad i waited till they were on video. Looking forward to the sequel for Sherlock Holmes when that comes out next year I presume. I thought the 1st film was pretty good, but there's definitely stuff they can improve on. Be interesting to see who they get to play Moriaty.

Thibodeau update;

I figure the Angels would be smarter than that, but KW should be proactive and asking anyways. Bout a 2% chance of actually happening though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2010 -> 09:25 AM) How could he get a release? No team's going to buy him out for $25 million. Definitely right about that. I think it all depends on how much Hedo's willing to give up and if the Raptors lose Bosh for nothing.

Congratulations Jason!

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 30, 2010 -> 08:38 AM) I watch a little soccer, mostly EPL on Fox and ESPN, so I'm not familiar with it greatly, but with the lacking D won't England with Rooney and some combination of Bent, Crouch, Defoe, etc.. just tear the U.S. up? Probably. Howard's gonna have to play a blinder if the US want to get a point out of that game IMO. Possible though.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ May 30, 2010 -> 06:24 AM) Great f***ing game to be at. Had awesome seats in the corner on the half where the goals were scored. Bradley and Torres looked good in the middle, Landon and Clint were dangerous. Findley was surprisingly strong, really liked what we saw from him. Spector sucked. Good to see Gooch looking in better form. Ha. I've been saying that all season long as a West Ham fan. Safe to say he's not very well liked by Hammers fans after the season he had.

And to think Hedo rejected a 4/33 deal from Otis Smith last off-season; I actually think he's going to try to get back to Orlando possibly.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 29, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Not by much. No I mean making the conference finals 2 years in a row doesn't mean much now does it.

I look forward to it Slav. I don't think Germany is the lock the come out of our group also, although they SHOULD make it out, although a lot teams "should have" over the years. They don't have a striker in good form (Gomez and the other Bayern Munich striker whose name escapes me had poor seasons), and obviously losing Ballack takes away a lot of experience in midfield (although I don't rate him much as a player now, he hurt Chelski more then he helped them this season IMO).
-
And that's it for us. Rondo and Nate Robinson killed us in the 1st half, Nelson didn't play as well as he did in the previous 2 games and that was simply the difference. Will be a very interesting off-season for us. I'd be suprised if VC is still on the roster at the start of next season, but he's a big expiring contract and ownership probably doesn't want to be paying luxury tax in the long - term. Redick I think played himself into a MLE deal in these playoffs. I'd like to keep him over Carter. Trade Carter for Dampier + picks and re-sign Redick. Barnes I think will be back.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 29, 2010 -> 01:18 AM) I hope people can now put an end to the hype, and to who STILL is the most athletic PG in the NBA... ever. Anthony Johnson.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) I'd agree - I bet KW slides to Team President, Hahn to full time GM, within a year. And that Ozzie lasts no longer than this season. I think right now a lot of Sox fans are hoping for that scenario to occur. For it to happen though, I think we'd need to win about 70 games this season, which is still a possibility mind you, but then again the likes of Peavy, Floyd etc. can pitch a lot better while the likes of Beckham and Quentin you'd expect to hit better going thru the season. So I'd put that scenario at 50:50 right now, and I'm probably more pessimistic in saying it won't happen.
-
I voted for wanting Ozzie out at the end of the season, and that nothing will change at the end of the season. And I'm basing the last thing on JR's loyalty to "his guys", and I think Ozzie and KW are definitely that. I think Ozzie would be best served by taking the Florida Marlins job from 2011 and using his managerial style in the NL. KW I think has enough runs on the board to survive say a 90 loss season, but changes will have to be made somewhere, but I don't think that'll be for the manager and the GM. The Peavy trade is obviously blowing up in KW's face right now unless he can turn it around, the Pierre acquisition giving up 2 decent prospects, 1 who has been great in the Dodgers rotation and not waiting for Damon was one of KW's worst moves since I've been a Sox fan, albeit Pierre has been better lately. The DH situation obviously has been a big negative, although Jones has been one of our better hitters. I think also when a lot of people say we need to add more OBP to the lineup, to be good in that stat in our ballpark is pretty hard, as Dye said in the media a while back, you need to have decent power to succeed hitting at the Cell.

Lacey Von Erich making out with a midget on Impact, bet Hornswoggle's jealous...

Yep very good news for us, certainly makes our group a lot more wide open now. All of the teams would be fancying their chances at making it to the 16 I would say.
-
Nice to see Bulls fans on here not wanting Wade now after today. Like it or not, FA's are going to look at how the VDN / Paxson scenario played out, and those type of organzational factors when making their decision, and obviously there are some flaws with the GM / Owner scenario, but you could say that for a lot of teams in the NBA. PHX deserved better tonight, but they just didn't play well in the 1st half at all. I'll give major props to Steve Nash though, he was superb tonight. Nice to see a little Dragic vs. Vujacic tonight also, those 2 certainly don't respect each other much.

And suddenly this series got very interesting again. Pressure is ALL is on Boston for Game 6. And they've got a lot of injury problems right now, Rondo's clearly playing hurt, Davis had a bad concussion, and Wallace looked pretty tight with his back before he fouled out. If Rondo can't get back to 100% I actually think we've got a real good opportunity to win games 6 and 7. I feel sorry for Perkins though, those 2 technicals were absolite BS, but as a Magic fan safe to say I was pretty happy to see him go.
