  1. Apparently John Terry has broken his metatarsal in training with Chelsea just now and looks like he'll miss the World Cup. If so, couldn't happen to a more deserving person after what's happened in his personal life. Big break for the US also obviously.
  2. Benzema missing out the France 30 is a huge shock for mine, yes he didn't play much for Real Madrid in the 2nd half of the season, but he's still argubly one of the top 5 strikers in the world today. I can't wait for Jonathan Spector to be shown up as the spud he is on the world stage also (and this is coming from a West Ham fan who's had to put up with his woeful performances at LB this season).
  3. All depends on the coach they bring in. I am thinking that Chicago is a legit possibility now after what has happened in this series (BTW I thought Boston would be competitive but not to this level), but they're obviously going to have to move Deng if they sign Lebron probably for a 4, which with Deng's contract isn't going to be easy.
  4. Anyone else see the "Six Degrees of Torture" from Jack Bauer? http://www.examiner.com/x-43585-Entertainm...est-episode-yet
  5. Hmm, the Magic's sweep of the Hawks was the most lopsided in NBA playoff history according STATS LLC. Guess we proved to the naysayers in pre-season who thought last season was a fluke otherwise. We've won 14 in a row now. JJ was booed off the court, goodbye Atlanta for him.
  6. Also just saw this, SVG rips Bulls for the VDN firing; http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=5177793
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 11, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) Dwyane Wade's wife (soon to be ex) is just nuts Dwyane certainly upgraded there with Union.
  8. So there's rumors that Mike Woodson could be fired by Atlanta after this series, would he be a candidate you'd like to see the Bulls go after? He's been horribly outcoached by SVG this series though.
  9. QUOTE (G&T @ May 11, 2010 -> 07:26 AM) I can honestly say that I had no idea that the fine was so high. Maybe they should tell fans that at the beginning of the game, just as they tell them they will be subject to removal from the park. Any sporting event down here, before it starts they always have the amount of the fine of the video screen and an announcement about it. At least now, this issue is being brought more to the fore due to the events in Philly.
  10. Be interesting to see if Lebron guards him if game 5. Either way, I don't think the Celtics have any chance of winning unless Pierce can get it going from here, and I don't see that happening. Cavs in 6 or 7.
  11. Hate to think where Boston would be without Rondo right now. He's so much better than anyone else on that team.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2010 -> 11:15 PM) f*** that, if he is going to disappear in the playoffs and then act like the fans can stay home, then he can stay in Atlanta or go somewhere else. After this playoff series, whoever offers him max money gets him. Wouldn't suprise me if the Knicks do that to save face, after they end up missing out on the likes of Lebron, Bosh, Wade and Amare.
  13. If Chelsea win, starting in 40 mins, they've won the title. Man Utd need Wigan to somehow snatch a draw and for themselves to beat Stoke at home which they should do easily.
  14. JJ makes noises bout leavin Atlanta after yet another blowout, possibly good news for the Bulls;
  15. I think most people would agree that Ozzie's more likely to go first than KW.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Crystal Castles baptism is the s***tttx1000000000 ^. Loving most of the album on first listen. Baptism certainly takes the cake though.
  17. I'd say Quentin. You just don't often get to acquire guys with his talent on the cheap. And yeah he's basically struggled for a season and a bit now, but I still have faith he can turn it around. I had more faith in him turning it around this season than Rios, and the latter's proved me wrong so far.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Forget Damon, who was a long shot. Roast me over the coals, we'd be way better off with Pods. He had a better chance at keeping Pods than getting Damon. Pods was one of our best players last year and has been KC's best player this year by far. Damon was not a long shot at all. If KW doesn't trade for Pierre, he saves 4-5M, of which you could have easily put towards signing Damon. Damon only signed with the Tigers because they offered him the best deal. If the White Sox offered the same deal, hands down I've got no doubts he would have signed with us. Podsednik's time was probably up here, it was best for both parties to move on. The Sox just haven't done a good job at all replacing him.
  19. His game just doesn't translate well to a ballpark like ours pretty much in general. Damon showed last season, that you can easily lead - off, put up a very good OBP and produce some much needed pop as well, although he's a hitter who's smart enough to realise now at Detroit that he doesn't need to be hitting for power. Dye's words were quite interesting last week when he said that you need to hit for power at the Cell, otherwise it's hard to generate runs. And looking how the Sox's offense has dropped off over the past few seasons while Ozzie has tried to implement his smallball / speed style of offense, I'd pretty much have to agree with him.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) If you don't think Ozzie should be fired now, you'll never be convinced. And I understand that thanks to 2005, there are some people like that out there. But yeah, this year=nightmare. It may end up 2007 ish at this rate. It is what it is, simple as that really. I think everyone knows that Ozzie's far more suited to being a manager in the NL, and we've basically tried to become Minnesota v2.0, with terrible results.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) 32 K's in 102 at bats. That's a 31% K%. That would make Chris Davis blush. Indeed. He's just going to take some time to work those plate discipline issues out. Whether or not he's afforded that luxury at the minor league level with Pierre and the Sox majorly struggling, well we'll have to wait and see on that.
  22. QUOTE (daggins @ May 8, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) His game sucks I tell you right now, if KW doesn't trade for Pierre, and uses that money to sign Damon instead, this team could possibly be at .500 quite easily. I've been a KW backer over the years, but that's the 1 move that he's made over the past few seasons which I'm really annoyed at. Of course, do you blame Ozzie for forcing KW to trade for Pierre, or was it just KW who decided to make that move, I don't know, but someone's gotta take responsibility for it.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) I would give KW so much credit if he just got power hitters at all 9 positions, and then tried to outslug everyone. No more slap hitters, no more bunting. I go back to the argument of about 5-6 years ago, when this team did make the playoffs, but too often you'd see them put up very low scores in the playoffs because of the "all or nothing" approach. So it's which of the 2 evils do you prefer here I suppose. Quite simply, this team needs more OBP, needs more guys getting on base, because Jones, Konerko and Rios have hit very well so far. Can you expect them to keep doing that, I don't know, it's certainly possible. But when Pierre and Beckham are both hitting below the Mendoza Line, obviously that's going to have a huge negative impact on your RBI opportunities.
  24. $2,000 isn't enough a penalty, needs to be at least triple that. They just need to create more awareness of it at the start of games on the video screen.
