So I read somewhere today that Megan Fox isn't going to be in Transformers 3. Heard this rumor before, but I wonder if it's actually true or not.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2010 -> 02:54 AM) Charcoal. Figured I should learn how to use that one first, then go ahead and splurge on the ridiculously expensive gas grill when I move to a more permanent job/home.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 20, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) A'mare doesn't even give a crap about defense. Yep. Fools gold when you are signing him. I pay no attention to the "Amare started playing defense for the first time ever" articles that were coming out just before the playoffs.
-
He'd also get a max offer as a FA this off-season if he didn't sign that 5/55 deal. I can see why he took it as his stock was really low after the playoffs last season, but I guess he should have had more faith in himself in a contract year to produce the goods which he has done.

With what is happening in Florida with Fredi Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez, I wonder if Ozzie is going to be their manager in 2011. Think it would be the best fit for him in terms of his manging style being more suited to the NL obviously.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 19, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) The Celtics are also one of the few teams that can match-up favorably with the Laker front-court. And Pierce/Allen have a long history of either matching or outplaying Kobe. It's amazing how far the Celtics have come in the last 10 days. I think we'd give the Lakers a better shot than what we did last season, but right now I don't think we're gonna get there. Rondo is just playing amazing, and he's actually hitting his jump shots, which he couldn't do last season, which makes him a lot more dangerous offensively. I never counted the Celtics out going into the playoffs, although I knew they were going to play with more intensity and just better than the 2nd half of this season, they've just taken their play to a whole new level.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
DBAHO replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Hawks could not have done much more in the 1st 2 games, great job by the coaching staff and the players. -
Going to be very hard from here. Quite simply, Rondo's play is just carrying the Celtics right now. Nelson hasn't shown the form he displayed in the 1st 2 series, and Lewis needs to be a lot more aggressive. I thought we looked better with Gortat and Howard out on the floor instead of Lewis. Howard had a very nice game, showed he can score well against the Celtics, but the other guys need to step it up. I think Rondo is gonna carry the Celtics to the title though. I don't see Fisher being able to guard him 1 on 1.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 18, 2010 -> 11:41 PM) Dude's 32 next year and has a history of injury problems. You don't sign somewhere thinking "oh yeah, I get to play with that dinosaur for a couple seasons before he retires!" Baron's just 1 guy, have a look at the Cavs whole roster beside J.J Hickson. Lot more upside in Clipper land with Gordon and Griffin, 2 young studs going forward.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) IMO, Baron Davis & winning an NBA title do not go together. Baron basically only plays hard when he's on a winning team. Talent wise, he's better than Mo Williams without a doubt. I think Lebron would be able to pull him into line and get him to play at his best if he went there.

It's really the Clippers ownership which causes all of the problems, that's not to say that JR is the perfect owner though, far from it. They promoted some guy in about January as their new GM didn't they? I've heard that the Denver GM is also available and he's from California originally or something IIRC.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) But you know what? If I was a player and I had a shred of a choice, I wouldn't go anywhere near that team's organization/front office. They don't just make Gar Paxdorf look competent, they make Gar Paxdorf look downright brilliant by comparison. True, but the Bulls have a lot of bad publicity with their front office / ownership on how they handled VDN, and the whole Paxson fiasco also. If that didn't happen, I'd say they are definitely the clear cut fav's for Lebron.

I think fathom nailed it pretty much by saying it's either Cleveland or whoever ends up with Calipari. Just to be different, I'm going to say the Clippers. On paper, they argubly have a more complete team than the Bulls right now (Davis, Gordon, James, Griffin and Kaman vs Rose, Hinrich, James, Deng and Noah), and if Lebron says his main reason to leave is to win, I think he can do that with that team in Los Angeles on paper.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) I'd say top 10. I think he's a better player than Dwight Howard. Offensively yes. I think what Dwight offers on the defensive end though outweighs what Pau offers on the offensive end, and I think most experts would agree with that.
-
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:55 AM) A source is denying it, but I would bet Calipari and his "group" are part of the package with Lebron. I'm betting the Bulls end up with Cal as coach and Lebron on the roster. If the Bulls sign and trade Deng, I think Miami and Chicago will be fighting for Joe Johnson as their SG. As for Spoelstra, he is basically a 16 year old kid that was given a Ferrari as his first car. He is a good defensive coach, but he has no clue on the offensive end, and is having trouble in the leadership and in-game strategies roles so far. He will eventually grow into a good NBA coach, but you just can't pair him with 3 max free-agents next year. I hated when Riley stepped in for Van Gundy a few years ago, but I acknowledge the Heat need him as coach for a few years. I think both Miami and Chicago will end up as major contenders next year when the dust settles. My guesses... Lebron to Chicago Bosh to Houston/Dallas Wade stays in Miami Lee to Miami Johnson to Miami A'mare stays in Phoenix Boozer to Knicks Haywood to Knicks for way too much money. I could see Ray Allen signing with Chicago for 2-3 years. I'd be suprised if Lee doesn't end up with New Jersey myself. They get him, draft Wall and trade Harris for say Beasley and picks which you mooted a few days ago, that should be a playoff team in the East (Wall, C Lee, Beasley, D Lee and Lopez is a pretty nice young core). Bosh back to Texas is interesting, don't think he'll go to Dallas, not while Dirk is still holding down the PF spot, but if Houston was willing to do a sign and trade with Brooks and Scola, well I'm sure Colangelo would be happy to do that for sure. Boozer to NY would be hilarious, considering they traded pretty much the same sort of player in Zach Randolph a while back. 1 guy who you haven't mentioned in that list, Rudy Gay I think will end up with a max offer from the Clippers. They need a SF desperately, and they'll overpay to get a good one. Don't see Michael Heisley matching that, considering the financial mess the Grizzlies are in Memphis.
-
I wouldn't say support is exactly lacking in Miami, obviously it's not on a level like Boston, Chicago etc. but if Lebron went there, they'd sell-out that building every night I'd say, especially considering the team hasn't been a contender for a few years now.

What was your favorite city in Germany Sonix? I speak a little Deutsch, so it's somewhere that I definitely want to go check out when I eventually make my way over to the UK.
-
palehosefan will tell you that Spoelstra ain't a good coach though. If Lebron signs there, Riley's definitely gonna come out of retirement. FWIW, I think they'll probably end up with Bosh instead.

Yeah I've heard great things about Barcelona also. Ibiza is also pretty good at this time of year (well getting into the European Summer) but it's expensive as hell and probably more for the club / dance type of scene. If not that, then another big Spanish Beachside City such as Valencia is meant to be really nice. Spain in general is just a pretty cool country to see. With Paris, you'll be able to take the train from London (if it doesn't break down like it did about a year and a half ago IIRC). Amsterdam obviously go and see the red light district part of town. I myself may be moving to London within a month so I may have more to offer on that going forward. The exchange rate should be pretty good ATM (considering it's 1 pound for 62c for us which is the best it's been for a while).

Been playing Just Cause 2 after completing the likes of GTA 4, Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins on PC, and I just can't get into it that much. One thing is the complete lack of a storyline, the other is when I'm driving a motorcycle or a car the camera control makes it basically impossible to drive full speed and turn without crashing into something. I'll keep playing it, but I much preferred GTA IV, and I'm just about to start playing the 2 episodes which just got released on PC about a month back. Maybe it's just a PC vs. Console thing though.

Somewhere in New York right now, Jim Thome is laughing.

This is their best chance to win the AL West for around a decade though right now. Whether or not Pierzynski is an upgrade for them is debatable, but they should be going for it this season definitely, so I could certainly see them making some moves to improve their major league team as we get closer to the deadline.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) Because there is nothing more valuable than a catcher who can't throw the ball back to the pitcher without getting the CF, 2B,SS involved. Salty = Rube Baker.

Not hugely suprised by today, even though we were rested, guys like Lewis need to stay in rhythm. Heartening that we fought back, but for us to have a chance in this series, Howard needs to turn the ball over less, and Lewis needs to shoot a lot better going forward. Have to win game 2 or we're in big trouble.

NY Post trying to argue why NY is a better fit than Chicago for Lebron;
