QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) If Buerhle continues to struggle do you think the Sox would sell his availabilty as "A change of scenery is needed"? The other factor is payroll. Whatever they take in for buerhle most likely counts against the massive pot they will need to re-sign Pujols longterm and keep him happy. Possibly. Obviously Pujols' contract will be the big issue that the Cards will have to consider going forward.
-
Mooted this in the other trade thread we had going. I think the Cards would look at Buehrle over Millwood for instance because of the potential for better crowd figures, merchandise etc. going forward considering he is close to a local boy and everything. Shelby Miller is probably their top prospect, RHP picked at #19 in last year's draft, got a lot of upside but still very raw and struggling in the Midwest League with a 5.10 ERA ATM. Eduardo Sanchez is a power reliever who KW will probably like I'd imagine.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!

Damn UK timezone didn't allow me to watch the game. Just a fantastic moment for the team and for the city of Chicago as a whole. Hope you are all very much enjoying it. -
If he was going to have a chance to rebound anywhere, it'd probably be in Texas in that ballpark, so that's what I'm hoping for. I hope we can trade him for a decent prospect or 2, but my guess is he'll still be around on Monday.
-
And Kotsay's numbers added to Quentin and Beckham's slumps have pretty much killed the offense, along with Jones having a really bad May / early June. I wouldn't mind bringing in LaRussa so long as he was the manager who gave us the best chance to win going forward, that's all I care about.

The Celebrity Apprentice just wasn't the same when he got fired. Wonder if he has learned how to use a cell phone or a laptop since then...

Anyone heard the Shout World Cup Anthem by Dizzee Rascal and James Cordon? It's awful, and it's been on non-stop here in the UK.
-
I'll be interested to see if the Bosh to LA and Bynum to TOR sign and trade rumors become true this off-season also. Also Hedo wants to go back to Sacramento apparently. Nocioni may be headed to Toronto in a deal.
-
Kevin Garnett also made Rashard Lewis look more like a better defending PF than Jamison in the playoffs.
-
Sickels said this; I'd like for Colon to slide down to 13, but doubt that happens. Wimmers is too Lance Broadway / Kyle McCullough for my liking.
-
I just think that hitters have seen enough of Buehrle in the AL for so long and when his stuff isn't 100% like it is now, he's going to struggle. I could see him going to St. Louis and really pitching well from the get go though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) Oswalt has a full no-trade clause while Buehrle does not. IIRC, Oswalt said he'd approve a trade to Washington, so I'd assume he'd pitch for a bigger team such as the Mets, but then again he might not like the bright lights of NY.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) According to everything i'm hearing out here,The Mets are looking for another arm. I imagine Buerhle is still in play, Would the Mets prefer Roy Oswalt over Mark Buehrle though, considering what both have done so far this season?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) I think it will also, and I think it will help them with LeBron...even though the Bulls seem to be the huge favorites right now. Calipari would be the only other candidate realistically who they could get which would probably appease Lebron more. Dan Gilbert wants to become the next Jerry Jones though apparently, hence why Danny Ferry left.
-
But Izzo is a big name coach still. It's like saying that he wouldn't stick around if they hired Coach K.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) never. I'll look into what our options are for mobile Soxtalkin. Just don't let Gage anywhere near it, it'd probably find someway to blow up your phone.
-
So I won't have to listen to that stupid Godfather music everytime Mo Williams makes a 3 if he gets traded? Fantastic. And remember how pissed the Cavs and Lebron were when he didn't get an all-star spot a year and 4 months back? Oh how things can change.

Is it a different pray each day SHIPPS or just the same ol one over and over again?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) I hope that Ozzie is shown the door before Opening Day 2011, as well as the advance scouting and hitting coaching staffs. I just don't have confidence anymore that they can do what is needed with any new players brought in. Agreed, this team on paper should be good enough to be around the .500 mark at least, but for whatever reason that just hasn't happened, and I think you have to look at Ozzie first and foremost and the other main coaches.

QUOTE (heirdog @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) So who are the vets? The usual suspects are AJP, PK, MB. Knowing KW, he will want to simply re-tool for next year and not trade away players with multi-year deals. So I think its just the first 2 and perhaps Freddy, Andruw Jones, Vizquel, Kotsay. Granted you aren't getting much for them but it keeps this team intact hoping for the rebound next year that didn't come in first 3 months this year. Also, gives an opportunity to see what Viciedo and/or Flowers, Hudson bring in terms of needs for next season. I think we may get some near ready, "change of scenery" prospects like we did with Floyd as opposed to stud prospects or low level, high ceiling guys. I think ideally you'd move a guy like Pierre on, but I don't think many teams are going to be interested. Quentin is the wild card, we all know about his talent, but right now he's a major reason why we've struggled on offense. Depends on if a team if willing to offer something really good, but I think you keep him otherwise. Floyd you'd probably like to move considering what he's produced this season, but moving him could be hard also, although a team like the Brewers is desperate for decent starting pitching. Jenks you definitely try to move, Philly could be a good option, time to give Thornton the closing role, he's proved he can handle it. Should all be about freeing up some salary, bringing in some quality prospects, and try to re-tool in the FA / trade market for the next off-season.
-
Was only going to be a matter of time. KW should be trying to get a dialogue going with the Angels about Konerko, while the Cardinals have always been after Buehrle and as much as it pains me to say it because Buehrle's been my favorite player for the Sox over the years, it might be best for both sides to move on. We're not going to make the playoffs no matter what we do with the roster, so let's salvage something from the season by acquiring some quality prospects and giving some major league time to Flowers and Viciedo by the time the season is out.

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) I wouldn't say Gomez screwed it up, that pitch was s***. And we have to train on it for the next week. Yippee.
-
Cannot wait til July comes and we can finally move on from this nonsense.
-
Only just saw the last 2 mins of the match. Pretty much showed that if we leak more than 1 goal, we're screwed. Very good result for the US though, and it'll give them a lot of confidence ahead of the England match.
-
Yeah I think looking at the candidates out there, Thibodeau is probably the perfect hire for the Bulls. He's a fantastic defensive coach but JVG has said that's he decent enough offneisvely as well, although the Bulls probably need a John Kuester type of offensive assistant next to him.
