Why would Portland want Hinrich when they already have Andre Miller? If they were going to acquire Hinrich, it would have been last off-season.

If you are JR. who is on your BIG BOARD to replace KW?
DBAHO replied to chisoxt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My main gripe with KW ATM is obviously missing out on Damon by being too hasty in acquiring Pierre. But you could blame Ozzie for forcing KW's hand there instead. -
Lakers get away with a big win tonight by 1PT. Kobe didn't have much help at all tonight.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 1, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) I'd call Washburn a borderline guy. Career 4.86 xFIP. He had that great half a season last year with the Mariners, but even then the peripherals didn't support the production, and predictably he fell apart with Detroit. I'd run younger starters with at least some kind of potential out there over Washburn. You could make that same argument with say Freddy Garcia, the issue is it all comes down to money. Garcia's willing to pitch for not much money, and Washburn hasn't shown he'll do that yet.

Finally played Mass Effect 2, probably one of the best if not the best game I've ever played, in terms of a 3rd person shooter, so many possibilities wih your character etc. Can't wait for Mass Effect 3 next year.

I actually think David Lee would be a pretty good get for the Bulls, especially if they can't get Bosh or Wade. Some people may prefer him to Amare for instance. He's prob gonna be asking for max money though.
-
I'd want him to replace Kotsay on the 25 man roster, and mainly DH with Jones playing more in the OF with at least a platoon split with Pierre at CF.

Couple of interesting pieces from a chat wrap by Steve Kyler of Hoopsworld (main rumors guy over there) that is Bulls related;

I wonder if there's a chance Mark Cuban fires Rick Carlisle in the next few days after they got knocked out by the Spurs tonight. And would that be a good coach for the Bulls to go after?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 01:15 PM) Those two will probably end up with better numbers than Washburn at the end of the year. I dunno bout that. Obviously pitching at Safeco will help those 2, but they're borderline major league starters as it is (and Snell's just been moved to the pen for Lee's return), at least Washburn's had a track record of success. Obviously he needs to be in the right situation for him to succeed though.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 09:11 AM) Teahen should be leading off Agreed. The key will be can he actually keep up his plate discipline (9/9 K/BB ratio) so far, when in the past that's usually been at a 3 to 1 ratio. He hasn't drawn a walk in his last 22 or so AB's however.

I'm suprised Seattle didn't re-sign him, especially when they've had likes of Snell and Rowland-Smith starting for them this season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 11:37 PM) Did he have that in Phoenix? I think Skiles is pretty much good for a couple extra wins per year, as long as you have players he can fit with. I just think, in hindsight, Wallace was a player that he couldn't fit with. Probably not, but with the players they had (Jason Kidd IIRC), he had to go with a fast break system, which he hasn't replicated in Chicago or Milwaukee. Charles Rosen wrote a really good write-up of last night's game. Atlanta's team is so much more talented than the Bucks, and Brandon Jennings didn't even play well, but the Bucks won because of heart and hustle, Skiles simply has his guys playing very hard. Whether or not they can keep that up for a few seasons or they'll burn out like Chicago, we'll have to wait and see.
-
I think the success he's had with the Bucks also showed how much he needs a dominant C / low post threat if you will, which the Bulls never really had (although they could have been a lot closer if they drafted Aldridge instead of Thomas as you said Balta).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 01:44 AM) Which is no surprise because Miller Lite Sux. I just really never got into the cheap American Beers whilst I was over there. Was always a 6 pack of Corona's or Heineken's when I made a run to the Spirits / Bottle Shop.

The positive is, he can't really get much worse from here. A healthy and firing Peavy probably gets the Sox back to around .500 potentially, so that's the upside.

If you're KW, who's on your BIG BOARD to replace Ozzie?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) Don't like Melvin much at all... Because? -
What's the Bears schedule like this season? IIRC, you guys play the NFC East this season, so it may be a little hearder than last season, correct?
-
Uhh dream coach scenario here Bulls fans?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) I only watched the last 90 seconds or so, but I saw Crawford put up at least 4 horrible shots. Looked familiar from his Chicago days. Atlanta was supposed to have a chance to upset one of the top 3, now they can't beat Bogut-less Milwaukee. Fear the Deer!!!! They just haven't been anywhere close to the team they were since they were 17-3 or so in the 1st 20 games. Mike Woodson could bolt to Philly also if Larry Brown becomes president of operations there also.

Bob Melvin's a name I'll just throw out for discussions' sake, not saying he's a good option, but he did have a little success in Seattle and Arizona for a while before he got canned. He's not exactly a fiery manager though, and he's known for changing lineup's a lot (which Ozzie is doing quite a bit ATM). -
Hawks down 3-2 now. Hopefully the Bucks can make it thru to the 2nd round, would be a great story for them without Bogut.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) The refs are a friggin joke in this game. That and 1 from Rose literally cost them that game. Cleveland went on a 20-7 run when Rose didn't get that call. It's already bad when guys like Rose don't get calls when he is being murdered going to the hole and guys like Howard get foul calls when he barely touches guys, but games like this is why I still think the NBA is rigged. Stern didn't want players complaining.. well it's getting pretty obvious to fans too. Hell even the announcers (Miller and the other guy) were saying how Rose didn't get fouled by Shaq, Brad's double fouls, and Rose's and 1 to be nothing. Personally I don't think there's any doubt Stern wants Lebron vs. Kobe in the finals, and he's instructed the refs to help those teams out as much as possible.
-
Very good effort from the Bulls, unfortunately they came up just a little short. If VDN gets fired, I think he definitely deserves another head coaching opportunity down the line, and where he can bring in his own assistants. Seems as if Lebron's elbow is hurting too, hopefully that continues going into the playoffs.
