Sportscenter whenever Linda Kohn or Chris Berman is on hands down.

Oh and Hedo Turkoglu went down with a facial injury tonight as well as the Raps went down to the Celtics. They're dropping like flies in Toronto.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) Wait, what am I missing about Byron Scott? Apparently I'm very misinformed. Doesn't like rookies, and will end up playing mediocre veterans. Case in point in New Orleans, he wouldn't play Collison or Marcus Thornton, and gave the likes of Morris Peterson big minutes. That'd be like giving Hakim Warrick big minutes at the expense of James Johnson if he was with the Bulls.

It'll be interesting to see what they do in the off-season with VDN, especially if they do sneak into the 8th spot in the East. I know Avery Johnson was mentioned on here a while back, I read a rumor the other day saying that if Shinn sells his majority stake in the hornets, the new owners want to bring in AJ to replace Bower as head coach. The Nets are after Coach K, and if they don't get him, they'll probably make a big money offer to Jeff Van Gundy also. I've always thought Tom Thibodeau deserves a head coaching job, and now's probably the right time for him to bolt from Boston. Byron Scott's another guy who's probably going to be after a head coaching job (maybe in Detroit if they can Kuester). And Philly's going to fire Eddie Jordan it seems, so there'll be a lot of openings around the league it seems.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) xFIP is better anyways. And Bobby had a xFIP of 3.63 last season FWIW. Also looking at Bobby's numbers, his GB% went down by about 10% from the previous few seasons, while his HR/9 increased dramatically. He fixes those 2 things, he'll be back to where he was. Of course that's easier said than done.

Also, if Kotsay puts up a .292/.349/.434 line in say 250 AB's for the Sox (that was his line from 113 AB's with the Sox last season); 1 - Would you be happy with that from the DH platoon split? 2 - Is that line good enough to stop the Sox from acquiring a Lance Berkman at the deadline?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Adding Soriano does help. But when you look at our bullpen, we have a lot more talent there and a whole lot more potential. Grant Balfour is basically the key guy in their bullpen alongisde Howell (he's an Aussie so I keep a good track on him). In 08 he had a 1.54 ERA when they made the World Series, last season that went down to 4.81. If he can get back on track, they've got a very good set-up duo.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 06:46 PM) Now that Bosh has a fractured face, if the Bulls don't get in, they will be failures. 5 games left and 1 game back. Bulls still have to play Cavs and Celtics (against Boston definitely winnable), and have to travel to Jersey, Toronto and Charlotte. I'd say it's likely they'll win 2 of those, possibly 3, moving them to 40-42. Raptors have Boston at home, Atlanta away, Chicago at home, Detroit away and New York at home. They should win the last 2, doubt they'll win the first 2, so IMO, it'll all come down to the Bulls game. Whoever wins that, will get in at the 8 spot, and be swept in 4 games by the Cavs.

Thunder vs. Jazz was argubly game of the season so far. Durant dropped 45 and they still lost. Would be a fun playoff series if they matched up with each other.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) If Thornton had that same stuff and command all season, I don't think anybody would mind him being our permanent closer. Wow. If Jenks can produce basically what he has over the past few seasons, you leave Thornton where he is. He's argubly the best lefty set-up guy in baseball right now, and it shows how good that Borchard for Thornton deal was back in the day.
-
Bosh is out indefinitely too with a fractured face FWIW also.

Interesting hire obviously. Hard to know down the line whether it'll pay off, but you can't complain with what the Sox have done with the minor league system / drafting etc. over the past 2-3 years.

Lovie's been pretty adamant about bringin in a veteran insurance policy for Cutler I read somewhere IIRC. Arizona would have been a good spot before they signed Anderson (Arizona really jumped the gun on that one). As for the McNabb deal, annoyed that he's still in the NFC East because he's terrorised the Cowboys for years, although he certainly isn't the player he once was. And the Eagles love their draft picks / young players, hence why they went with the draft pick compensation.

Read a little blurb today in a chat wrap saying that Kobe and Pau aren't on speaking terms at the moment, Would be an interesting dynamic heading into the playoffs;

White Sox baseball down to a tee today. Great outing for Buehrle, get some runs on the board early, let's hope this is a sign of things to come for the year ahead.

Would that have been the greatest shot in College Basketball Final Four History if Hayward made that?

4/5/10 Opening day IGT. White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
DBAHO replied to Ultimate Warrior's topic in 2010 Season in Review
This is probably my favourite time of year, when you have the baseball finally kicking off while the other sports are still going, but coming to a close. Let's get the season started out on the right note. -
I saw Brothers the other night. Thought it was a good film, good performances by Maguire and Portman especially. The ending absolutely ruined it though I thought.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 12:12 PM) I think you both are being way too kind with his point totals and one is overrating his rebounding effiency and the other is underrating it. Noah was around 11+ RPG before he got hurt. Factor in the Bulls hopefully getting another scoring player next season (preferably 2 guard) and I don't think Noah will have as many chances at scoring other than the offensive rebounding put-backs he's very good at. I see 10-12 maybe 11-13 going forward from him which is very solid. When healthy, he'll probably be one of the top 5 rebounding bigs in the game. A lot will depend on whether they can bring in a guy like Bosh, which will probably hurt Noah's rebounding a little going forward. As for Gibson, is he a 10-10 guy? Yeah possibly, but you look at a guy like Drew Gooden who has bounced around the league so much, I think those 2 are quite similar. Gibson isn't certainly a guy you build a team around and give out decent money too, as you can find quite a lot of those type of PF's in the NBA / draft etc.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) Bulls now 1 game back with Raptors loss to Golden State. Bogut's also probably done for the season. Not that I'm happy he got injured, but it helps the Bulls a little bit. How does Bogut getting injured help the Bulls, when if the Bulls make the playoffs, they'll play the Cavs, and probably be swept in 4 games? Also I think you're being overly optimistic on Noah's output. 15-20? More like 15-10 going forward.

QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 02:38 AM) Pretty much all of you support the Yankees/Red Sox of football... Come on you Spurs! I'm a West Ham supporter. They're pretty much like the Kansas City Royals if I had to compare them to a MLB franchise.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Me and my friend sung a Backstreet boy song (the main lyrics) jokingly last week at his house..... SOBER. I'll let Dr. Cox take this one;

QUOTE (Molto @ Apr 2, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) I was thinking of ... "so you know, you're marrying a guy that in the very recent past shoved ice cream sandwiches down his pants in the middle of the night. Good luck with that." Opening line in the speech right there.

Wonder if the Bears will make a run at either Flozell "The Hotel" Adams or Ken Hamlin who were both released by Dallas today.
