Who's his next start against FWIW? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 06:26 AM) Is there any veteran SG that might be available this offseason for something close to the MLE? I have a feeling the Bulls are going to offer J.J Redick something close to this MLE this off-season. I think we can still make him a qualfying offer though, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 01:29 AM) Wrong again. The pick is top ten protected. As long as the Bulls get the #10 or higher pick in the draft, they keep it. Check out the table on this link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Draft_Lottery The 13th seed has a 96% chance of getting that 13th selection, and then miniscule chances of getting the 1st, 2nd or 3rd. They can get anything in b/w 4 and 12.
-
Yeah the Bulls are screwed either way in terms of that draft pick. You'd have to say the Bucks definitely won that trade. Yes, Salmons wasn't working in Chicago, but he's been argubly Milwaukee's best player alongside Bogut since they got him.

Got a 6 burner gas BBQ where I'm currently ATM. Use it quite a lot whenever I cook anything meatish, or even some corn or pineapple. We've also got a Weber, that we use to cook larger things such as Turkey. Haven't used charcoal before so wouldn't be able to make a recommendation there. I suppose whatever you think cooks best is the right option, and if it's portable, even better.

Pretty cruical victory in terms of getting a little bit of momentum heading into Toronto. Certainly don't want to go there on a 5 game losing streak. Nice to see a little bit of offense finally, albeit still that not that much.

Anyone catch the South Park Facebook episode last week? One of the better episodes I've seen. The Cartman / Mad Money spot was hilarious.

Now if the Hawks beat Nashville which they should, they'd play the winner of the series b/w Vancouver and Los Angeles correct? If so, then I think the Hawks have got the better playoff route to the Conf. Finals, than if they ended up with the #1 seed (where'd they have to play either Phoenix or Detroit).

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) yeah im hoping boston and charlotte rests their players the final two games Boston's still fighting for 3rd spot so I doubt they'll be resting anyone. I hope you can knock em off though.

Rios has a career OBP of .330 though, not exactly fantastic leadoff material. Does that mean he'd be a better option than Pierre? Possibly, but I like Rios where he is for the moment. I'd even look at Alexei at the leadoff spot possibly. His plate discipline improved a hell of a lot last season. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 11, 2010 -> 02:01 AM) The Sox have scored 15 runs in 4 games. Greg Walker has to go. The Sox should have paid up big for Rudy Jaramillo. He has the Cubs scoring 13 runs in 4 games. If guys aren't hitting, its clearly the hitting coach's fault. There is no way the White Sox shouldn't have a .300 team batting average unless Greg Walker is incompetent. He clearly is. Mark Teahen has been an All Star every year, now 4 games into the season, he's looking for a hit. Andruw Jones has been terrific the past 3 years, yet he is looking for a hit. Disregard Kotsay was DFA'd, this guy is a first ballot HOFer. No hits? What is Walker doing. Oh I know, he's spending his time teaching his "lift and pull" philosophy to Juan Pierre. Walker will probably quit if the Sox don't hit in the first 30-40 games IMO, but he'll be a scapegoat and when he's gone, everyone will see he wasn't the problem. Just can't see that happening myself. There's been plenty of occasions where the Sox have gone through stretches like that, and they could very easily made a change, but they haven't, so it gives me no reason to think they're going to do a 180 and make a change there.

Boston lost again last night at home to Washington, so it looks like they'll get the 4th seed and Atlanta the 3rd in the East. As a Magic fan, I'd rather play Atlanta in the 2nd round, even though Boston are prime candidates to be knocked out of the 1st round the way they have played in the last 50 games. A Boston vs. Cleveland 2nd round series would be interesting to watch if the C's actually got their act together though. Read about the refereeing in the Bulls vs. Nets game also, obviously the Bulls got the bad breaks, but they still control their own destiny at least. Beat Toronto, and they should be in.

QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) I doubt Ozzie goes anywhere, but if they do axe him. I'd like Willie Randolf to replace him. I was based on New York for a year, when Randolph got canned. Was quite sad the way it ended really. He may be a better "in - game" manager than Ozzie possibly, but in terms of running the clubhouse and getting on the media etc. I don't think Randolph is the guy you'd be after. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 10:25 PM) Teahen, Jones, Kotsay,Pierre,..........these guys are all HOF quality hitters at this point in their careers. The fact that they haven't hit well during the season's first 4 games is ample proof Greg Walker is a good and needs to be fired immediately. Yet another ridiculous thread. Sox lose, score less than 5 runs, what's the simple equation, blame Walker. FWIW, I don't think Walker goes before Ozzie or KW for that matter. They've stuck by him with the good, and mainly the bad, and I can't see that changing anytime soon. It is what it is.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Apr 10, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) Nate Jones pitched pretty well- 4.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 5 SO, 3 GO/1 FO. 2 K's and 2 BB's for Santos Rodriguez in his inning. Nunez did OK with 4 SO/1 BB. With stuff like his he won't give up 8 hits in 4 innings too often. Rodriguez is someone I'll be keeping my eye on this season. Still very raw and a long way away, but he certainly has some raw talent and a nice fastball / slider combo.

Bulls have lost this one now. It's all going to come down to the Toronto game.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:02 AM) The thing is, Peppers is well liked by his teammates and coaches. His reputation to take plays off only comes from the fact that he isn't always as dominant as people think he should be because of the ridiciulous athletism he possesses. His teammates and coaches seem to think it has more to do with the fact that he's consistently double-teamed. Yet he still puts up very good numbers. Now I happen to think Peppers probably does slack off from time to time, this isn't a guy that was just waiting for a pay check. He turned down big money multi year deals in the past and went with short term deals. He doesn't have attitude issues and is a hard worker. I think that's more so he was that desperate to get out of Carolina. He really wanted to play OLB in a 3-4 system for a while, but he won't obviously get that opportunity in Chicago.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:08 AM) Skiles is a tremendous coach. His schtcik just doesn't last more than a couple seasons cause the primadonna players now a days will tune him out. His style would have worked so well a generation ago. I still think Skiles could be a tremendous college coach. He could coach up his players and from a recruiting standpoint if I were a parent I'd love to know that skiles would be molding my kid into an adult. Skiles doesn't seem like the type of guy that is afraid to teach his players lessons and help them grow as players and people. Skiles is basically in the perfect situation in Milwaukee. He's got a player in Andrew Bogut who was argubly a bust before this season, now he's a star and argubly the best defensive player in the league (and he's not a primadonna star to boot). And he's a wonderful defensive coach, and all of those players (that team talent wise isn't a playoff team) have bought into his system and they're getting results because of it.
-
Ozzie's basically been after this type of player I guess for a while. They went with Erstad for a season a while back, and now they're basically got v2.0 of him in Kotsay, who's being put into a situation where he basically can't win, even if he puts up say a .292/.340/.430 line etc.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) If the Bulls...with DR1, Noah, and max-deal cap space can't get the coach of their choice...then everything people have been saying about management is true. I can see that argument being made about Gibson. JJ though? The only reason he's seen the court at all this year is because the Bulls have been so ungodly beaten up by injuries. Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I read about JJ coming into the draft he was quite, how do I put this "immature". Under some coaches e.g Larry Brown, he wouldn't see any playing time at all. Gibson has obviously been a pleasent surprise, and the Bulls hit on that draft pick there. As for the coach, I just don't see the Bulls getting a big name coach. For one thing, there just aren't that many around anymore (and the big names like Jackson, Stan Van Gundy etc. aren't going to leave their jobs). I see Van Gundy either staying in the booth or getting $10M a season from the Russian Billionaire to coach the Nets. Avery Johnson is probably the guy they're going to have to target, and he'll have his pick of jobs. If the New Orleans one becomes available, I think there's a good possibility he ends up there.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:06 PM) Sentence 1...what does that say about one Julius Peppers? Sentence 2...I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he was back to being a disaster there too. I also wouldn't be surprised if some other team stepped in. We'll have to wait and see on Peppers. The Bears are rolling the dice obviously. Maybe the Lions try to get in on Haynesworth as well with Jim Schwartz there.
-
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:24 AM) Well Haynesworth was going to be a disaster, but at the same time, signing him was the right move. They got him in his prime, he was a beast of a DT, and the Redskins needed to concentrate greatly on defense. It just didn't work out. Probably because he had a terrible attitude, is a team cancer, and is lazy. Your last sentence pretty much sums up why you shouldn't give out big money free agent contracts unless you know the player is going to work just as hard as they did before they got the contract. I think Haynesworth will end up back with the Titans actually. They get him, they're back to being a contender IMO.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) So, you're saying he'd do exactly what the Bulls coaches have done with rookies since 2004? If anything, VDN has given Gibson and JJ more playing time, than what they would probably get on a team in a similar sort of situation. I'm in the boat, you only fire VDN if you are sure you can get an Avery Johnson, Jeff Van Gundy etc. Otherwise I think it's better they stand pat and keep some continuity in terms of the systems they use etc.

The Masters is pretty much the only golf tournament I'll watch all year. I hope Tiger misses the cut.
