  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 01:25 AM) I will say this much. That was an incredible game. Great goaltending, great checking, physical game, with tons of drama, great plays and memorable moments. I know it hurts most that the US lost, but they played two awesome games against a team that had WAY more talent than our team did. The USA hockey program should be damned proud of what it did in Vancouver. And it was a game like that, which the NHL desperately needed. Suddenly people are talking about Hockey again, hell even ESPN Sportscenter ran with it at the top of its show, instead of some NY / Boston sports thing that no-one except those on the East Coast gives a crap about. Now they have a chance to push Hockey back into the mainstream. They need to market the hell out of Ovechkin, Crosby, Kane, Parise, Toews etc. which they have been doing, but they need to do it more. They need to market Hockey as the NBA markets basketball now. It's all about the stars. Ideally, a Chicago vs. Pittsburgh or Washington Stanley Cup would be ideal to help that process.
  2. Eh I was rooting for Canada because they had more Blackhawks, so that's my logic. At least it was a game that people will remember for a long, long time and not a blowout.
  3. There was even the rumor going around from Roenick that Huet was going to be sent back to Montreal for Jaroslav Halak. I would love to have a Halak / Niemi tandem going forward for the next couple of seasons.
  4. Here's a picture of Ramsey's broken leg from the w/e, be warned it's pretty graphic to say the least. http://twitpic.com/15ooxg/full
  5. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 09:59 AM) I don't think Arsenal is as good as the others though. They'll slip up along the way. This is the run home. If Arsenal can get a result at Tottenham, they'll end up winning IMO.
  6. Karma is a wonderful thing eh John Terry. Michael Ballack's nothing but a whinging dirty sniper also. Suddenly Arsenal I think may actually end up winning it all. They've already play Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool twice already.
  7. I feel sorry for Golden State fans though. That team's got absolutely no chance at contenting while Don Nelson is there. If they actually had a decent coach, that team could go places because they have a lot of young talent. As for Curry, he is going to be a very good player for sure. The key for him though will be to improve his defense over time otherwise he'll be nothing more than another Monte Ellis.
  8. Hope you have a good one!
  9. Dwight Howard became the 1st player since Wilt Chamberlain to score more than 30 points, grab more than 15 rebounds and have a perfect shooting night (he was 11-11 from the floor). Also Kevin Durant had his 25PPG streak stopped at 29 games last night. I also think Durant deserves some MVP consideration considering how he and the Thunder have come on this season.
  10. Anyone else see the cut the Chinese girl had on her face after the short track speed skating win? Ouch.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) Which is why if it doesn't work, I hope Ozzie is held the most accountable for this. Though I know this site is split in half with him and KW in that regard. I don't think there's any doubt that that's going to be the case. Unfortunately, most people think it's not going to end well, and I'm one of those.
  12. That Pizza place that Jeff (SHIPPS) insisted we go to (and the damn place was closed). Around the Ballpark, there's not really that much as it's quite close to the freeway. Best bet is to probably head to a place like Peoria, Tempe, Mesa etc. one of the suburbs where most of the bars / nightlife are.
  13. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 10:42 AM) Not even close. Dwight is a phenomenal finisher, but he has pretty much no post moves and is an abysmal shooter. He's good, but nowhere close to historically good yet, not with his struggles to consistently score 20 and his high turnover rates. Dwight's post game is actually quite decent now, he's got the running hook, the baseline spin move, and he can hit the bank shot ALA Duncan. 1st half of the season, the Magic hardly gave him the ball, but thankfully they are now and his numbers are starting to get back on par I think we showed today that a Magic vs. Cavs series in the playoffs would be very interesting to watch once again.
  14. Yep, Utd are in trouble after Chelski and Le Arse both won.
  15. Sacramento already have a lot of talented young wing players, they have no need for Deng, what they need is an upgrade at PG. The only team I could possibly see the Bulls dumping Deng's contract on is the Clippers, but the Bulls aren't a team that just dumps contracts unless you're a headcase like TT was.
  16. Antawn Jamison puttin up a nice ol goose egg in his 1st performance as a Cav, 0-12 from the field, 0 points. And the Cavs are about to go down to the Bobcats.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) I didn't even know they had Mormons in Australia. Btw, OT, but a friend of mine asked me this interesting question today, and I guess it can go here since it relates to 2 of the 3 people mentioned. Best Chicago athlete born in 1988: Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, or Derrick Rose? (And off topic again, lets hope Jared Mitchell ends up in that question someday.) There's actually a Church of the Latter Day Saints about 5 mins down the road from me. You get Americans coming over on 2 year missionaries or whatever quite often actually. It ain't big at all in Oz though. But Bright's based in Park City, Utah now, so I'm guessing that's how she got into it. That, and she's engaged to one.
  18. BTW people talk about how bad the Pau Gasol deal was for Memphis a few seasons ago, well I think Wasington did even worse with the Antwan Jamison trade. At least the Grizzlies ended up with Marc Gasol out of the deal (who's a pretty decent center nowadays).
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) I wouldn't be heartbroken at all if the Bulls end up with Joe Johnson instead of Wade, I don't trust Wade's long term health prognosis. I'm not a huge Boozer fan, but Rose/Johnson/Deng/Boozer/Noah still sounds awfully good. I think Bosh is most likely to join Wade in Miami as well, and I guess with that in mind, Amar'e ends up in New York. Not sure what they'll do with their 2nd full boat contract they have available since LeBron definitely isn't going there. I'd say they'd go after Rudy Gay, but then they've got Gallinari at the SF spot already. I think they end up with Stoudemire, and end up re-signing David Lee at about 10M per season. Wade's going to make money sticking with Miami than he will moving to Chicago also (with the max contract that Miami can offer IIRC, and then with the no state income tax that Florida has which makes Orlando and Miami very attractive FA spots).
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Are all the women in Australia good looking? It sure seems like it when I watch the Olympics. Eh, in the good parts of the country yes. Bright is actually a Mormon though.
  21. Boozer would be the low post scorer that the Bulls have been crying out for in the last 5-10 years however. After today's deals, I think Amare definitely ends up in either New York or Miami, Bosh stays with Toronto or goes to Miami to join Wade who sticks around there and the Bulls end up with Joe Johnson. The TT deal, well the Bulls ended up getting what they could for him. Talent wise, TT could make that deal look very bad in the future if he ever reaches his potential, but I don't really see him lasting in Charlotte especially under Larry Brown when he's had run-in's with 3 coaches already. Gerald Wallace is the perfect guy for him to learn off though. Nice to see the Cavs finally lose, hoping the Lakers can come back in the 2nd half here also.
  22. Torah Bright won the gold in the Women's Snowboard Halfpipe.
  23. Interesting couple of hours here I see. Martin's been nothing but a good citizen in Sacramento, but the simple fact is, Martin and Evans could simply just not play together. Sacramento need a distributing type of PG alongside Evans, and with the cap room they've created, they can now go after one. Martin's a pretty decent pickup for Houston though. Will fit their culture well, and they can move Battier back to the bench where he belongs. I'm surprised they gave up Landry though, he could be the 6th man of the year. All in all, depending on what they do with the capspace, I like the deal better for Sacramento. Geoff Petrie is building something there. If they ended up with Wall somehow, that team would make an OKC like jump next season for sure.
  24. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Bulls do not have to move Tyrus they can just non-tender him. If he plays well they could move him for something in the offseason orlet him walk. Deng and Heinrich are actually playing well enough to have value. The Bulls are trying to get a future 1st and an expiring contract for TT though. Obviously they want some sort of compensation for him. Not exactly a good PR scenario non - tendering the former #2 pick in the draft.
