Here's a fun little stat. The Rangers have stolen 9 bases off Wakefield and Martinez in 6 innings.

2k10 definitely. Better track record in recent years.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) I've gotten the impression repeatedly over the past few years that there have been teams who would be willing to take on Hinrich's contract for nothing/expiring deals, but the Bulls genuinely still like him and aren't going to move him unless they get something of value in return. May have been the case then, not sure it will be the same right now because of the factors I've mentioned. One team such as Minnesota who had interest in him in the past now has Sessions, Rubio and Flynn as PG's for example.

I wonder if the Cavs get knocked out of the playoffs as well, is he going to shake hands with the opposition this time unlike last year. Wouldn't put it past him doing the classless thing all over again.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Which is why scouts love guys like Rose, Durant, Duncan etc.. Guys who are the antithesis of a prima donna. I've probably said this about 134,970 times now. I hate Kirk Hinrich. Him and his contract being traded alone, makes me happy... in the summer hopefully. I'm sure the Bulls would love to dump his contract and sign a J.J Redick type of SG for the MLE in the off-season, but who's going to take Kirk's contract? A lot of teams are going to put their eggs into the FA basket who have the cap room obviously. The only teams I could possibly see interested are the Lakers (if they let Fisher and Farmar go), maybe Indiana if they did a swap for T.J Ford, and possibly Sacramento. That's about it.

Lebron was always going to do that in the 4th, been doing it for years. Bulls just simply have to shoot better, up around 50%. Very efficient on offense though with 4 TO's, which was a marked improvement on game 1.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) Yes, 100%, absolutely.....he and Jose Valentin have been two of the most underrated and underappreciated White Sox players in my lifetime. And Uribe had an absolutely horrible OBP in his last few seasons with the Sox, and unfortunately his defense slipped a little also, which really negated his value. And the Sox had to move away from that "all or nothing" mentality on offense obviously. The Sox had to move on, and they got a guy in Ramirez who albeit made some boneheaded decisions, but has at least shown he can develop some plate discipline.

Single biggest problem with the Sox over the past decade
DBAHO replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) That hasn't stopped other big-market teams from having big draft budgets. With the way agents run baseball, enough elite prospects slip in the draft where they can be gobbled up in the 15-30 range, but the Sox refuse to play hardball and instead take the Kyle McCulloch's, Lance Broadway's, Royce Ring's of the world -- the easy signs (which is not a terrible thing if they make up for it later in the draft, but they don't). The Sox have rarely taken signability risk anywhere in the draft. I think that has changed over the past couple of seasons. You don't see the Sox drafting the likes of Broadway with early picks anymore, which has been a welcome philosophical change. Thompson was a risky pick and the Sox signed him. Obviously because they don't deal with Bora$$ clients, they're not going to shell out big bucks in the draft that way. You can still get pretty good talent though if you draft right. -
Has anyone else tried out the Tiger Woods Affair 2010 game? Pretty hilarious.

I believe that they've also had a lot more comp. 1st / 2nd round picks also IIRC, while the Sox haven't had at least a 2nd round pick once or twice in the last couple of seasons. -

You can also argue that the Sox have hardly had any top 10 picks besides Gordon Beckham hence why they don't have a huge draft budget over the years. I think they've taken steps to improve the farm system by signing guys like Viciedo for instance, and by just drafting better prospects, but I agree that more needs to be done. If you're going to point the finger at KW, I'd point it at him for the moves he's made major league wise over the past couple of seasons for not improving our offense. -
QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) i LOVE command and conquer.. I lost my Red Alert and Uris Revenge but I have been playing a lot of G&C Generals since because thats all I have and I never see the others a walmart.. Red Alert was by far my favorite one Command and Conquer 4 was such a huge letdown. Kane deserved a much better sendoff.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) You may have seen on my FB status but I really hate the Celtics now. Rondo is a c*** muffin and Pierce acts like every mild bump is a medical emergency. Q Rich put it best when he called them actresses.
-
Paul Pierce is running his mouth that because they're healthy, they're still going to win a championship. I would LOVEEE Miami to knock their asses out 1st round, but Wade needs some help.
-
I actually wonder if the Heat would dump Beasley to get Bosh, so they'd have enough for a 3rd max player that way. Think it would work out well for both parties potentially.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 06:56 AM) See ya. Arsenal only played well for about 15 minutes in this one. They just aren't as good as the top 2 this year. Still like Man City to grab 4th though. Yep, have choked down the stretch again. Fabregas's injury has killed any chance they had.
-
Another f***in injury time goal for United, how lucky can you be. Certainly spiced the title race back up though. Tottenham vs. Chelsea should be an asbsolute cracker, local rivals also.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!

That 3rd period was just awful. -
QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:16 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5099980 That's huge for the Knicks, Bulls, Heat etc. That figure is $3M higher then what was widely speculated a month or 2 back.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 07:01 AM) I'm pretty sure I'm becoming Joe Crede. I f***ed up my back on Sunday and in my softball league, I'm very good defensively at 3rd but I keep popping every damn pitch up, it's quite irritating. Time to get your hair cut like Crede then.
-
Seems as if Tony Pena has finally found his groove in Chicago also, although it is very early obviously. He was very good at the end of last season though IIRC.
-
I think they'll re-evaluate things at the end of May. If the Sox are behind in the standings by quite a bit and Garcia has an ERA north of 5.50, then I think you'll see a change there with Hudson. Otherwise they'll give him longer. Only 1 bad start for Freddy so far, so hopefully he can bounce back in the next outing.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Whatever. I mean, it's not exactly a prestigious award anyway. And nobody ever wants to win it more than once. Who won it last year? The year before that? Who won it in 2005? I'm sure most would have to look it up. If they decide to stick to the script and give it to a guy simply because he was a scrub the year before, then a guy like Bogut will probably get it (and Bogut is not that much better than he was two years ago). But Durant went from high scorer on a terrible team to superstar on a 50 win team in one year. That's what I call improvement. But like I said, MIP is about as meaningless as the Sporstmanship award. I'd disagree. Offensively, his numbers may only have improved a little, but Ball Don't Lie said he was the BEST defensive player in the NBA this season, in terms of he was very, very hard to score against in the low post. You can credit Skiles for that, because before he was argubly a big white stiff who was too slow to play effective D.
