  1. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) People make fun of the Atlantic division, at least they have 2 teams .500 or better. Look at the Northwest. Minnesota 14-14 Utah 15-16 Denver 15-17 Seattle 13-17 Portland 10-20 Minnesota are so desperate for Ron Artest right now it's quite hilarious. They've basically become a 2 man team, and KG's patience has gotta be wearing thin. Now there's a scenario to dream over Bulls fans. No doubt Denver is easily the best team in that division talent wise. They just need to get a good perimeter shooting SG and a big who'll actually play some defense besides Marcus Camby.
  2. Right now the Cowboys have needs at RT, G, C, LB and FS. Unless there's a good veteran RT out there in FA to be had, I'd expect the Boys to really have a long look at someone like Winston Justice, Marcus McNeill, or a safety like Laron Landry.
  3. Ken Rosenthal had this little blurb on B-Mac tonight;
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) I hope this is a joke thread 101, you've been around too long to be asking questions like that.
  5. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 05:49 PM) The Braves getting out of the 1st round? "...and an improved team defense and deep rotation kept runs off the board at a reasonable clip?" Excuse me? Improved Team Defense = Bernie Williams out of CF. At least that's what they think.
  6. QUOTE(farmteam @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) I'm trying to think of some joke involving DBAH0 and "on fire" or "hot", but it's just not coming to me. In other news, that's really freaking hot. I can't even stand the mid 90's. 75 and breezy is my favorite. That's a shame. And yeah on New Years Eve it did get to 110 down here. Luckily the night when it was still at least 80, was spent around at a buddies drinking Corona's in the spa. EDIT: And I'm kind of like the opposite of you farm, I hate the cold, but I love the hot weather. Probably why I liked Phoenix so much.
  7. People, people it's freakin Dayn Perry. I'm suprised he didn't pick the Royals and his reasoning would have been because of the FA's they signed.
  8. After tonight, you can say goodbye to our Offensive Line Coach and to our starting RT Rob Pettiti.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) I drool over Stephen Drew. He's close to being major league ready despite some struggles in AA. Once they are out of it, I'd have him up at the major league level. He's gonna be some kind of all around hitter. They've got Craig Counsell up in front of him at the moment. Pretty funny that Royce Clayton left Arizona thinking he could get a better deal. Still waiting Royce?
  10. Good to see people going with the seafood tonight. FlaSoxxJim would be proud.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Personally I think Haslett is a garbage head coach. He's had a talented team for a while (I'm not counting this year cause it was an impossible job) and he's continued to fail to get his talent to gel and play up to its capabilities. At some point the onus falls on the head coach. Well I think a lot of people thought the Saints were a real talented team. But now almost everyone realizes Aaron Brooks isn't that good of a QB, and their defense ain't too good either besides the D-Line. It goes each way a little, but I think Haslett could get a job somewhere, since the openings could reach up to double figures.
  12. Martz could be one that the Raiders look at. I think Haslett if he goes could definitely get a head coaching job somewhere else though. I know a lot of teams were impressed with the job he did early on with the Saints keeping them afloat.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) Edwards is a good coach. I'd take him on the Bears any day of the week. Are the Titans going to stick with Fisher? I'd like to think they would but sometimes teams just feel a change is necessary. In the case of Edwards and Fisher, if either were fired it wouldn't take em long to find a new team to coach. If Jeff Fisher became available a lot of team would definitely love to have him. It depends on what owner Bud Adams wants to do, but Fisher isn't in any trouble right now. And the more I think about it, the more Herm Edwards seems like the perfect coach for the Chiefs.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) I don't doubt it. Especially considering the amount of job openings. Lets just say: Green Bay Houston Oakland Detroit Kansas City Dallas New York Jets (they say Herm Edwards is safe, but anything can happen). Am I missing any others? Thats potentially 7 vacancies and while there are some good candidates out there, at least one of those teams is going to sniff the college ranks and Ferentz and Tedford are the two guys that will get the bulk of the calls. Both will make great coaches wherever they go, imo. Jim Haslett is probably going to quit the Saints since he's had enough. Denny Green could be in some trouble in Arizona, and then there's the Rams.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) He's the tough guy from the Steelers right? IIRC was like an oline coach. I remember the Bears were looking at him either for the head coaching job two years ago or the offensive coordinator position (pretty sure it was the head coaching job). Yeah that's right. Millen wants a real hard - ass in there, because apparently Mooch went all soft on everybody hence why the likes of Charles Rogers haven't done much at all. I think it's a pretty good fit for both parties.
  16. There's Herm Edwards as well. I wonder if he'll stick with the Jets or bolt to Kansas City. I think he'd probably like the challenge of fixing up KC's defense, and he wouldn't have to worry about the offense at all.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:44 PM) I don't think Detroit will stick with Jauron. They are going to at least interview candidates. Its too bad Millen is signed for the next 5 years. If he wasn't I'd say the odds are good that he could potentially get canned to, but no way is Detroit going to drop Millen and pay him these next 5 years. Millen really wants Parcells but that ain't gonna happen. Russ Grimm is probably the guy they'll end up taking I think.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) One good candidate is the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator (was the DC in Miami until Saban took over). Obviously Greg Blache and the Bears Rivera will be contacted as well. That'd be Jim Bates. He's done a good job in Miami and now Green Bay but I think there's other Defensive Co-Ordinators around the league who have a bit more of a higher stock right now such as Greg Williams.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) I so f***ing hope no one snags Ferentz. He just signed a nice contract extension at Iowa, but his son graduates this year and he could leave. I hope he loves Iowa City and stays there for as long as he wants. I really believe he's going to eventually bring a national championship to Iowa. I think Ferentz is really going to be in demand this off-season. Teams have seen what Nick Saban has done for Miami, and if Kirk is actually interested in coming to the NFL he could almost have his pick of teams that he wants to coach.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) Nothing official, but I'd be shocked if he is back. The stuff being talked around out here on the West Coast is that he doesn't want to be with the Raiders. He will be a highly coveted offensive coordinator and will probably land a gig with an experienced team. Speaking of job openings, you can't forget that Sherman is reportedly a potential firing in Green Bay. This could be a year without about as many coaching vacancies as I can think of. Plus a couple of them are pretty good teams (Kansas City and potentially Dallas and I think a healthy Packers team is still solid). Jay Glazer reported today that the Packers were going to suprise everybody and fire Sherman. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Brett Favre if this goes down.
  21. Who would seriously want this job though? The only person I can think of is Jim Fassel, and judged by Kyle Boller's performance today, he may have had enough of that situation there.
  22. Al Saunders ain't going to get the job either. I'm thinking they'll probably go after someone with a defensive background like Tim Lewis from the Giants. Kind of like Lovie Smith with the Bears.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) yeah that can very easily be a playoff team next season they definitely got the pieces. They definitely need an upgrade in my opinion in the LB position but other than that solid defense. On offense I guess maybe a couple OL could help. No doubt that's where they'll try to upgrade, probably through the draft. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Daunte Culpepper as well although I can't see him leaving. Here's a coaching candidate from left field though, Denny Green.
  24. And so it begins. Not suprising really, Minny could be the most attractive out of all of the head coach openings this off-season.
  25. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) Yeah, they are kinda thin pitching wise. But I envy their position players. At least they're in the position so they can address that. It's sort of like when we had so many early picks and we concentrated mainly on pitching getting Gio, Lumsden, Liotta, Whisler etc. They get two extra picks from the Giants just for losing Tim Worrell.
