  1. When was the last time someone had something healthy?
  2. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) I think this Kobe-Odom fight will really fuel some talks with the Lakers for Artest. Yeah that'll probably happen, but I don't think the Lakers should think about doing that. However, they may have to if they want to get their hands on one Ron Artest. And Greasy after your team's performance against the Raptors, you need to trade him, fast.
  3. So when Brandon McCarthy dominates in Spring Training, what are you going to say to yourselves?
  4. Haha, Hawks lose 3-2 to Columbus, despite out shooting them by 22 shots.
  5. QUOTE(Pierzynski 12 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Tallon is trying,ok. The key word is trying. He needs to cut the dead weight such as your LaPointe's, Cullimore's, Brown's, Dowd's and Simpson's if the Hawks want to get any better.
  6. Tim Purpura is dreaming if he thinks someone like Taveras or Lane and a pitching prospect is going to be able to get them Tejada. They'll have to include Lidge.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) Nene is out for how long (I thought it was the season but maybe I'm wrong??). But I know the Bulls have interest in Nene so I don't know if them getting them now would help there chances at getting him the next couple years. He would fit in nicely here though. Yeah he's an UFA at the end of the season IIRC. So I don't know if you traded for him it would help your chances of re-signing him. Still I'd love to have him.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) I'd take a 1st rounder for him. Or package him and Tim Thomas cause I still think you could get something worthwhile for them. I think if Denver can't get Flip Murray, they'd have serious interest in Ben, but I don't know what they would give up besides Nene or Earl Watson. Maybe a team like Charlotte who don't have a bonafide good SG?
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 06:24 AM) Maybe, maybe not. Let's just say Dbah0's been accused of the same thing. Yes but now the tables have turned.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) Is Ben Gordon one of the worse/overhyped players in the league. I think so. I'll give you Mario Kasun for him.
  11. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) My take on the roster is that Borchard will be the bench guy, making him the 13th position player. And the sox will carry 12 pitchers, with Munoz, Tracey and Baj fighting for the last spot. Of course if Hermy's back isn't up to it, then 2 of those guys could make it, unless the Sox decided to sign a FA reliever.
  12. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) SS Robert Valido will be in AA to start this yr. His defense is supposed to be major league ready now, which is what the sox would be looking at from him if Uribe went down. While he probably wouldn't hit [though he can bunt and do the little things], he'd likely be better than Ozuna long term. We've got Pedro Lopez who was up briefly for us in 2005 to fill that role in case of an injury. I'd say Valido will stay in AA pretty much for all of 2006, but we'll definitely see him at some point in the majors (of course KW could trade him by then).
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) Chicken Wings last night. Tonight's menu is currently unknown. Atlantic Salmon. You gotta love it.
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Wow, Reed went from The Next Big Thing to trade bait in one year. The Freddy trade just keeps looking smarter and smarter. I still think Reed has good long - term value though, especially if he gets out of Safeco Field and to a hitters park. Plus he had a wrist injury that really hurt him hitting wise in 2005, but his defense was better than advertised.
  15. Makes sense with Kevin Youklis currently the Red Sox's first baseman, but then they could also move Mike Lowell to first base and allow Andy Marte to start at third straight away. So they've got to figure out something there still.
  16. Somewhere Brian Sabean isn't very happy at losing one of his old guys.
  17. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) This can turn out to be a very good move for the Marlins. You know Olivo has the tools. Now if Girardi can get inside his head and teach him to think like a good catcher, they may have lucked into something. Agreed. I think it's the perfect situation for Miggy to re-establish himself. The only problem is that Pro Player Stadium is hardly a hitters park, and we all know Miggy needs to improve his hitting quite a bit.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) whose the Marlins other catcher? I know the have Girardi in the dugout which IMO is a plus for a young pitching staff, but Olivo struggled with calling games. Lo Duca got traded. They've Josh Willingham in the minors, he'll be a much better hitter than Olivo, but Miggy is definitely superior at calling a game and defensively behind the plate.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) He instantly becomes the worst defensive starting CF in baseball. He'd be in the top 3, everyone says he makes great defensive diving catches, well that's because he gets horrible jumps on the ball a lot of time. And if he can't improve against righties, not going to be that good of a signing. Still it was pretty slim pickings in terms of FA CF's available in the market.
  20. Put yourself into Baltimore shoes. Would you rather have a package with Jose Contreras or Mark Prior / Carlos Zambrano as the main ingredient to a trade? That's why if the Cubs have something on the table like that, a deal with Contreras and Uribe won't be enough to get Tejada. We shouldn't go any higher than that in my mind (unless you throw in a prospect who isn't top 3).
  21. QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) For those who cared to read the post, I said prospects could be part of a mid-season trade of Vazquez, but they certainly don't have to be the main ingredient. (I mentioned Bobby Abreu first, didn't I?) The Sox could well be in a position to get just about anything they want or need at that point, depending on how well Vazquez responds to Coop's tutelage. Anyone else dumping a major starting pitcher mid-season will likely be offering only a rent-a-player like AJ Burnett. Vazquez will still be tied up for 2-1/2 years in mid-2006. Are you trying to imply there that if Brian Anderson is struggling, that the Sox are going to use Vazquez as bait to try and get an upgrade there? Vazquez being tied up for another 3 years is exactly the reason why they traded for him in the 1st place.
  22. Omar Minaya trying to keep up with KW here;
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Anyone have/used a PSP? I really like it, thinking about shelling out the 250. Never big into handhelds, but I really like the PSP. I actually bought a Nintendo DS instead of XMas. PSP's are $400 at the moment down here. I'm thinkin if that comes down to $300, I'll trade in my DS and get a PSP possibly.
