  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) if Angels were offered Erstad for Wells idonno why they wouldnt do that... Wells would be their 5th starter so if he sucks it wont hurt you much but he has the potential to do good too. He was awesome with the Padres just a couple seasons ago. Neither do I, but then again the Angels do overrate Erstad's abilities. I suppose they want to stick with Carrasco as the 5th starter perhaps?
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) He would not have gotten any protection at all with the Bills, because their O-Line was constantly terrible. He may very well have wound up hurt. Hey Balta, I'd just thought I'd show you this stat; No doubt Buffalo's Offensive Line was terible this season (wasn't Mike Williams a waste of a draft pick), but losing Flozell Adams basically killed our season. I think if we still had him healthy, we could very well still be alive in the playoffs today, but that's JMHO.
  3. There was a thread a while back about the D-Backs trying to trade for a younger starter. Well if they could acquire Wells who's better then El Duque anyway, they can just trade him at the deadline for prospects if they're out of contention. And since Cintron's not likely to make the 25 man roster (Easley and Green as backups), it makes perfect sense for them.
  4. From Rotoworld; If he's going to get a minor league deal, we should definitely take a look at him. He'd be an excellent insurance policy in case Jim Thome doesn't recover from his back injury, which is unlikely, but it's good to keep our options open. We've still got Ross Gload around, so it's unlikely that something will happen, but Gload could conceiveably play in RF for Charlotte (even though he ain't very good at it) if Borchard does make the 25 man roster.
  5. Tampa Bay did very well here. If there's one thing they need more of, it's quality pitching prospects. Tiffany's a good one, and I think if Jackson's handled properly, he can maybe produce what everyone thought he was originally going to do a couple of years back.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Wow, I'd do that deal if I were the Magic. Francis is a heck of a talent but Wally is having a strong season and both Hassel and Wally are at least playing hard (well this year). Those were my thoughts as well. Yes Wally still has quite a big contract, and yes he isn't the best defensively. But he's having the best season in his career so far, and he's a good shooter, which is something we desperately need. Hassell is just a fantastic defensive SG. We've already got Stevenson who fills that role for us, albeit I think Hassell could do that job a little better. And tonight showed Jameer Nelson as the starting PG and Travis Diener as the backup (serious 3PT shooter) is the way to go, even though we lost.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 04:51 PM) There was a thread on this a while back....ironically enough. Oh ya, that would have been me on one of my drunken power coup's.
  8. Did I read it was actually a sellout tonight?
  9. I've been told Stephen A Smith said the T-Wolves have offered Wally and Hassell for Francis. If so, the Magic should probably go ahead and make that deal. Then they can package Cato and Hedo for a better big.
  10. Munro >>> Anderson. Thay can't send down Munro when the Bulin Wall's healthy after he's probably going to win 2 straight. Yakubov scores his 1st ever NHL point tonight as well, Hilbert currently has a pair of goals.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) Amare Stoudamire said he will not be back in February. Instead he thinks he'll be back in March. He doesn't need to rush back with the way the Suns are playing right now. They're my pick for the title so far, even though the Pistons have been playing so great.
  12. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 02:26 AM) obviously the unfunny american version for an unfunny american. Well there's ya problem. Go check out the British Version. The Scottish Guy at my work raves about it.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 04:40 AM) and I think they have a better O-Line than the Bills by quite a bit. I would almost dispute this. Bledsoe was getting good protection in our early games, no doubt. Then Flozell Adams got injured. So you've got Torrin Tucker and Rob Pettiti as your Offensive Tackles. Marco Rivera never recovered from his back injury before training camp. Al Johnson still gets pushed around by huge nose tackles because he's not big enough. And Larry Allen is just getting too old now. Bledsoe showed, if he got good protection, he can still be a damaging QB. He was unluecky not to make the Pro Bowl in front of Jake Delhomme in all honesty.
  14. If the Celtics trade Paul Pierce for Ben Gordon, Danny Ainge is heading closer to Isiah Thomas's mantle of worst GM in the league. Hey Danny, take Steve Francis instead!!!!!!! He's still under 30!
  15. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) i "the office" Are we talking the funny British Version, or the not so funny American Version?

    Civilization 4

Yeah this was going to be one of those games that was going to take up my summer. Then I got a job. A full - time job. But it's an excellent game though, if you're into the whole strategy thing.
  17. Ran a very nice White Sox site a while back.
  18. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) I love the fact that he wanted to call the park Jesusland. Praiseland's better. Oh and even though I don't get into American Politics much, this Robertson fellow seems like a complete douche. Glad to see this happen.
  19. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) There are certain center fielders who have had that "presence" if you know what I mean: Lofton, Griffey, Hunter... Does Anderson have the potential to have that kind of reputation? Is Rowand on the verge of achieving that elite status? Just wondering. SFF I don't think Rowand's ever going to reach that elite status. He's not as bad as he was offensively in 2005, but I don't know if he's ever going to be able to produce to the same numbers as he did in 2004, so he'll probably be somewhere in the middle. Still hitting in Philly will help him, so it'll be interesting to see how he does. Personally I think Anderson's going to end up like a Jacque Jones type of player offensively (hopefully not as bad against lefties though).
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) If he like, wouldn't want to go to Houston, shouldn't he just call Archie? He's currently on hold, since Matt Leinart is already making that call since he doesn't want to go to New Orleans.
  21. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) So WTF does Buffalo do now? Call up Marv again? Wite, if Drew Bledsoe was the QB of the Bills in 2005, do you think Mularkey would still have a job today? He probably wouldn't, but going with Losman who was totally unproven was the straw that broke the camel's back I guess. A guy like Rivera probably makes sense here.
  22. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) Some team should be drooling who needs an OC. As long as Mularkey's family situation, whatever it may be, allows him to coach again, he will be a hell of an OC like he was in Pittsburgh. That was the most fun I have had watching NFL games, was when he was our OC, never knew what crazy play was next. I think he would be a pretty good damn fit in Dallas actually, since Sean Payton's likely headed to the Saints. But I've heard Parcells is just going to promote Todd Haley the WR coach, and call the plays himself.
  23. Kobe just pisses me off to no end. He's probably my most hated sports superstar in the world today, but that's just me. It probably depends on what you like watching. A great defensive matchup b/w the Spurs and Pistons, or watching Kobe and Lebron go head to head. Personally, I'd rather watch Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns go to work at the moment with that offense of theirs.
  24. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) If Anderson can't play Rowand type defense, it'll show quickly. I think a lot of people on this board can attest to the importance Aaron Rowand's defense had in the White Sox run at the championship. This is one thing we won't have to worry about in 2006. The minor league guru's here on Soxtalk have lauded Anderson's defense, and some people actually think he may be better then Rowand in CF. Plus he can play in any OF position, so there's that added versatility. All Anderson should have to worry about is trying to hit over .250 which I think he should be able to do.
  25. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 08:23 AM) The only bargains in baseball are the cliff politte type signings... when you look back on it of course. Even then i thought it was a nice signing. And teams have seen the impact that type of signing had for us, and it's really gonna be hard to get a guy who could be that good in the pen for the price we got him at again in the current FA market. And KW getting him locked up for an extra year was another great move.
