  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 06:34 AM) Howard probably wasn't the best example because he was more of a Return man however Braylon probably would be ROY if he hadn't gotten hurt. Weren't you arguing about Williams being the ROY a while back instead of Ronnie Brown?
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) I rather have my Cowboys pick him up. I'll give Angelo mad credit for having the balls to go after T.O. I wouldn't, in fact if I was a fan of any team I wouldn't want them to go anywhere near this cancer. Not to mentione we've got an aging WR group anyways. We should be thinking about drafting another WR. Signing Owens will take playing time away from Patrick Crayton as well.
  3. So I got to see my new work offices today, for which my section at work will be moving to in 2 weeks. I no longer have to go into the city for work either now, which is a big plus.
  4. The Rams are going to hire Scott Linehan to replace Mike Martz. It's an excellent choice. Linehan's been one of the best offensive co-ordinators in the NFL for quite a few years, and doing what he did in Miami only increased his stock. With the success he had in Minny under the Dome, I wouldn't be at all suprised to see the Rams offense go back to being elite next season. They've just got to get the defense fixed up. And the Lions are going to hire Rod Marinelli the Defensive Line Coach of the Bucs. It's an interesting choice, IIRC he was the Bears 1st choice as the Defensive Co-ordinator for Lovie Smith before they took Ron Rivera. Detroit needs massive improvements on both side of the ball, so it'll be interesting to see what happens with Joey Harrington, and whether or not they'd be interested in someone like Jay Cutler in the draft at the #9 spot.
  5. Not really any new earth shattering news, but I'll post it anyways. From the Southtown; http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/ds.../pro/181sd1.htm
  6. DeMarcus Ware - A. Was probably our best pass rusher all season, and even though he hit a lull mid - season, showed what he could do against Carolina with 3 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. There's always gonna be questions asking whether we should have taken Shaun Merriman, but I think both teams are happy at this point. Marcus Spears - B. Didn't really make a lot of plays, and wasn't a starter at the start of the season. But he's a good big clogger in that DE spot, and I expect him to improve. Kevin Burnett - D. The main disappointment in our draft picks. Was injured early, and just never had a chance to get in the starting LB corps, even when Singleton and Nguyen went down. Still I think he'll be a good one, and will start at MLB alongside Bradie James next season. Chris Canty - A. Absolute steal in the 4th round. Perfect size for the 3-4, and made some good plays. With Canty, Ware and Spears bookends on this defense for the next 5-10 years, the Boys are well placed there. Justin Berriault - D+. Had a chronic knee injury in training camp and never played a down this season. But he was impressive in the secondary in camp, but the bad thing is, he's a SS. We need a FS since we have Roy Williams. If Berriault can make the transition, that's 1 less need we have to fill. Rob Pettiti - C. Worst starting RT in the league. But a rookie like him shouldn't have been thrown into that situation in the first place. You can thank Jacob Rogers for that. Pettiti just seems to lack the footwork to be a starting RT, as speedier DE's just had field days against him. Jay Ratliff - C+. Fairly good pick in the 7th, another D-Lineman for the 3-4. I expect him to be a good backup for us for quite a few years.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) Ben Gordon has the basketball IQ of a bag of dirt. If Gordon has the IQ of dirt, then Steve Francis has the IQ of mulch. Jameer Nelson has played great since he started at PG, and Francis came off the bench today, and rightfully so. Still when Dooling comes back, Francis needs to be shipped off, so Travis Diener can continue to be a back-up. Now if only Brian Hill will let Nelson and Howard play the pick and roll like Nash and Amare did last season, maybe the Magic could actually start producing some better offense. Right now it's all Nelson, Hedo and Stevenson bombing away with 20FT jumpers. No wonder we only average about 92PTS a game.
  8. Reading this article on my local paper today about Justin Huber, and a prospect signed by the Padres, thought I'd post it here. I've long had the view that the White Sox need to start sending a scout out here as it seems more talent is becoming available by the year;
  9. I figured since it's probably been about 1 year since we first started the thread for the 2005 draft, we could post our thoughts on who our favorite team drafted (or any team for that matter), a grade or score out of 10, and where you think they'll fit in the future plans of your team.
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Panthers will win this one easily. The Seahawks are an extremely overrated, and Steve Smith will rip up their secondary. You don't think Trufant will do a better job at covering Smith then what Tillman did? And surely the Seahawks will start double covering Smith if he starts getting hot. Of course it won't really matter, if the Panthers can't even get a running game going without Foster.
  11. So the Saints are going to hire Sean Payton. It's a good hire for them, and a loss for us. Everywhere he's been the QB has generally done pretty well, from Kerry Collins to Drew Bledsoe. Generally since he's had success with these pocket passers, I think the Saints may actually take Leinart with the 2nd pick, but it's way too early to speculate. We won't be getting Norv Turner as a OC to replace Sean either, he signed with the 49ers today. Excellent hire for them to replace McCarthy.
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Post-ASB numbers... Carl Everett - .228 10 34 .305/.386/.691 Aaron Rowand - .264 8 35 .326/.431/.757 So yeah if anyone was ever considering replacing Rowand with Griffey instead of Everett with Griffey, you would be making a huge mistake. I can almost guarantee you KW was trading for KGII the DH not KGII the CFer. And just imagine Everett hitting in Safeco Field in 2006.
  13. Probably the best solution for all parties here. Getting Crede locked up to a multi - year deal would have been nice, but the concerns on his back are probably too great of a risk to have for that to occur. Let's hope Joe can produce what he did for the majority of 2005 though. He only had 2 bad months in 2005, 1 which was due to that broken finger. In the other 4, he put up OPS's over .800, which will definitely do, but there's still the scope for improvement.
  14. QUOTE(Wanne @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) Since they've lost 90 or more games in eight straight seasons...I think that's a fair assessment. That's mind-boggling. I don't get it...it's not like they're completely void of talent. I do think they are finally headed on the right path though. Under Andrew Friedman and Gerry Hunsciker they actually seem to have a sense of direction now. They did very well on the Baez trade, and I think they've realised they need to load up on good young pitching, if they ever want to get better as a team.
  15. Did the Bears actually bother to double cover Smith at any stage of the game (since I didn't see any of it)?
  16. Looks like congrats are in order.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) Idonno on your team Dwight Howard can probably D up on the big C's which would allow Chandler to act like he was last year on defense and make a big impact..... WellI think long - term Howard is going to be a better PF then C, but that's something the Magic need to decide for the future. Either way, we need some muscle down low. Oh and DeShawn Stevenson at SG. Please upgrade there as soon as possible.
  18. Follows any type of sport (well not any).
  19. What would Tyson Chandler get you in a trade right now though? Would the Celtics even trade Mark Blount straight up for him? I wouldn't mind if the Magic went after him, but we need a big center far more then Chandler who can only really play PF at this stage.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) I agree. I think Brooks still has something left in the tank. I was thinking he could possibly be an option for the Packers, since he played well under Mike McCarthy when he was the Offensive Co-ordinator there. But then of course Favre would have to retire, and they would likely have to give the reins to Aaron Rodgers anyways. A team like the Jets could be an option possibly.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) He is a RFA but id love to add Brandon Lloyd to this team... he has crap QB's throwing to him in San Fran and still always shows up and is a very underated player I think. Considering who else the 49ers have at reciever (Arnaz Battle is a freaking #2 reciever!?), there's no way they let Lloyd go. And I don't think it's so much that Smith is a crap QB, it's not his fault if he doesn't have anytime to throw the football.
  22. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) I have a problem with Bryant though. I don't think he's fast enough. Not only that, he's still got some mental issues. If he's not getting the ball enough, he'll let you know about it. Randle El probably makes more sense on that regard. But I think the Browns will be pretty desperate to re-sign Antonio anyway, especially with Edwards doubtful for the start of next season.
  23. I guess Tillman shouldn't have made the Pro Bowl after all hey? Maybe he should spend the off-season learning how not to be so bold as a CB and not actually give up big plays.
  24. It's all good in saying that if Thome goes down, Ross Gload is the next option, and I think we would all like that to be the case. But after what happened last season with Gload, are you 100% positive that he'd be the guy they'd look at to fill in? I'm still a little suprised he's with the organization quite frankly. You can say Rogo should then be the guy, but he needs a full season down in AAA first. Lee's probably not the guy to go after, I should have done more research on him. Cheat brought up a guy in Walter Young though. Has good fairly good minor league stats, although 2005 wasn't a great year for him power wise with only a .772 OPS. Maybe the park he was hitting in Ottawa is a pitcher's one though, I'm not 100% sure. But Young's still only 25, and he hit well in his brief stint up with the O's. He'd be a very good option to look at.
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) You would of been in the playoffs if it wasnt for your stupid late game meltdowns.,.... first Washington game, the Seahawks when Bledsoe threw that int........ had to be 1-2 others. Yeah, which showed really what a tough season it was for us, Besides that terible performance in Washington, we were never blown out of a game, and we played a LOT of good teams this season. Still hopefully we can fill some needs thru the draft.
