Are acts like that allowed under Scientology?

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) Uh yea... I'm pretty sure that's why they brought Hunsicker on board.. because the last regime sucked and he has the experience to turn it around logically. He built a winner in Houston, and personally I thought he would have been a real good fit with the Dodgers, so it's an excellent get for the D-Rays. It'll be interesting to see where they go on a manager from here, whether they go with Maddon the bench coach from Anaheim, or Bobby Valentine (who could also get the Dodgers job).

Welcome aboard Soxy!!! SLAP will definitely be much busier in the off-season, and it's a well deserved promotion to an excellent poster.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) I addressed Petco in my post about Giles .... here: As for the rest, I still think PK is the best option. I don't disagree that re-signing PK is the best option, keep what you have, stick with the winning formula. But if that doesn't happen, we've GOT to have a contigency plan in place, because there's no way in my mind we'll make the playoffs next season without bringing in a quality replacement for the DH/1B spot.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) Someone needs to bring back the Hunter/Burke picture from last season. Oh yeah, weren't the boards a fun place the day after that.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Interesting thread. It seems to be taken for granted that we can't/won't resigm Konerko. Either we will be outbid or we would be stupid to sign him to a longterm deal. So, that leaves us with the following options, which have been mentioned... 1. Brian Giles. Sign this 35 year old to a 3 tear deal. Same guy who had us on his no trade list when at Pittsburg. Also, his numbers have taken a nose dive. Park, Age or Roids? Who knows. 2. Jim Thome. He of the bad back and steep contract. We'd be lucky to have him be able to stay healthy as a DH. The odds are even longer that he'd be a healthy 1B. Oh yeah, we want to give up El Duque, Marte and Anderson to get him. 3. Carlos Delgado. Another one that has refused a trade to the Sox. He also has a formidable contract. Also, wqe'd have to trade for him as well. 4. Chad Tracy-Conner Jackson. A couple of kids with good bats and poor gloves. Acquiring these guys gets away from our success formula of pitching and defense. But, give 29 year old Paul Konerko and 6 year deal is dumb. This guy is leader in the Sox clubhouse, regardless of how overrated some people think that may be. Hell, the players were calling him King Paulie because they knew who was carrying the team offensively. Sorry folks. I think Konerko is by far our best option. 1 - Giles numbers have fallen? Power wise yes, but you can thank PETCO Park for that, which is hell for a LH power hitter. Can't argue with a .333/.463/.545 stat line for away games. I read tonight SD have only offered him $21M over 3 years. If I'm a Padre fan after what they did with the Castilla trade today, I'm really pissed off at the Alderson/Towers V.P/GM combo right now. 2 - Acquiring Thome depends on how much Philly's willing to pay. We don't know what they'd demand for Thome compared to Howard, although I've read numerous times, they want good young starting pitching. 3 - He's been mentioned, but I can't see them moving him. Juan Pierre's more likely to be dealt if anybody from that team. 4 - Tracy or Jackson could easily be our DH's for the next 10 years. Tracy's not the best fielder in the world, but he can play 4 different positions, which gives you versatility, and he'd probably only get better in the field in the future. And I think you could get one of those two, by dealing prospects, namely a package starting with Dan Haigwood (an Arizona native) and Gio Gonzalez.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) I really could care less about casey. While he is generally underated he is still overpayed imo. Tracy will not be moved and you are gonna waste an entire winter talking about him. He makes the least sense to be moved on the diamondbacks out of anyone. Yeah, I can't see the Casey thing happening. Frankly, Ross Gload for about 1/10th of the price will put up similar numbers for ya, if he was given a chance. But that ain't gonna happen. And yeah, if I'm the D-Backs no way I move Tracy. But they've got to move somebody out of that logjam. Clark ain't going anywhere after they just re-signed him. I doubt Jackson or Quentin will be moved, because they're bonaifde stars of the future. They want to move Gonzo or Glaus, but unless Manny Ramirez gets traded to Anaheim, I don't know if that's going to be possible. Shawn Green could be an option, but once again, he makes a lot of $$$. That leaves Tracy, who'll probably bring back the most for them in a trade I'd say. Not that he should be moved, but who knows what Josh Byrnes is gonna do.

Which Team will finish last in the central

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) We will still rebound plenty. Putting the ball in the basket on the other hand will be a problem. Do you think the Bulls are better of defensively in the front court with Sweeney and Songalia at PF? -
QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Howard, as in Ryan Howard? No way the Phils trade him even if they can't move Thome. They'll make him play the OF if worst came to worst. I doubt this very much. They're bad enough defensively already in the OF as it is, and you'd have an OF of Howard at LF (who'd still be trying to learn the position), Abreu in CF, and Burrell in RF (who struggles enough in LF defensively as it is).
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Look at his 1999, 2000, and 2004 numbers. Still do you want to trade for a guy who makes $8M and COULD go back to those numbers, or someone like Tracy or Howard who put better power numbers in 2005 and are MUCH cheaper? It'll depend on what Cinci want, but I'd assume Griffey would be our 1st target if we'd trade with them.

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Hooray for DBAH0! The Dallas Cowboys signed OT Mark Columbo today. WOOOO! Yes well Rob Pettiti ain't really inspiring anyone so far with his play. Let's see if we can make sumthin of him. -
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) *shudder* vegemite is the devil. ^^^^ that. Aussie Icon my ass.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) Would I not have to take off my shoes? Because I hate doing that. My Dad was checked everytime he was in an airport in Phoenix, put simply because he wasn't an American. When it happened to me, I couldn't care less really, because they're just doing their jobs. But about the 5th time my Dad was checked, and they forced him to open his new Guitar and they broke his sunnies, well let's just say he wasn't too happy at all. Also, during the 9/11 anniversary this year, when my parents were in New York, they flew in, and they said security wasn't very tight at all, not compared to airports like Sky Harbor and LAX.

QUOTE(spataro51 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) well i will say this........if we lose pauly we better some how pull something out of our hat because he was the only threat that put real fear in pitchers eyes. 40 hr 100 is hard to replace and especially with carl's 20hr and 80 rbi's we will need power. Griffey? Funny how 40HR's/100RBI's suddenly looks a little more valuable than a mid-range BA/RISP eh?

Hav a good one Jimmy!!!!

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) @ Walker. 5 from 15 from the field tonight. Gonna see a lot of those as the season goes on. Oh and Greasy if you keep shooting .500 from the 3PT line, you're my pick to win the East.
-
LOL at those signs. Nice pics there KJean, and to everyone else as well.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) You're just a little behind. 4:13 left Indy up 97-93. Yeah Indy just went on a nice 6 point run. Anyone notice how Jason Williams is already on the bench in the 4thQ because he doesn't play defence? Nothing's changed there I see.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) He landed awkwardly on Ron Artest's foot. Only 2 games back and Ron Artest is already taking out players........ And there we go it's tied.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Shaq just hurt himself big time. Whoops. How'd he do that? And it looks like the Pacers are pulling a "Mini Bobcats" from last night.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) I would drop the green. I could really see this happening. Seriously. Depends how desperate the new ownership is to dump payroll I suppose. Of course signing players like Eric Milton got them into that mess in the 1st place.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) Not as hot as the Aussie Boys are. And how old were you when you came Down Under?

I love Rotoworld's take;

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) BTW, in real life, when talking to someone that posts here, have you found yourself saying, "that was in green"? No. Basically when I talked to Jason, all he wanted to know was how hot the Aussie Chicks were.
