That's why Ozuna is never going to be an everyday player.
-
Mmmmmm.... stop making me hungry at 12:42 a.m please.
-
I'm hoping Ozuna leads off again instead of Timo because of Santana on the hill. Crede could do with another day off.

Same old for me, so I'll take #3.

Have a great one Rowand!!!!

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) Bump. I finally listened to the full Coldplay X an Y album after seeing them up at alpine and damn, this album absolutely blows me away. Chris Martin is an amazing talent. Such a sweet sound comes from this band yet it rocks. I'm very impressed and hope they have a winter tour. I've been listening to that for a month or two now. I know some people here hate Coldplay (Cerb I'm lookin in your direction ), but I'm usually a bit of a fan. That said, even though there are some ok to good songs on X and Y, I like their older stuff better. And they're usually great at a live concert though, from what people who have told me.

Ironic how the majority here wanted Contreras BANISHED from the White Sox Kingdom after the performances he put up around the ASB (especially the Oakland game), and now people wouldn't mind him in our playoff rotation. Just noting how volatile people's opinions are and how much they can fluctuate over a given period of time.

So anyways gettin back on the Sports Management thing, that'd be a path I'd just absolutely love to take in the future career wise. Is it going to happen for me as an Aussie if I want to work in the States for the next 30 to 40 years? Unfortunately, probably not, unless I get insanely lucky. Hence, why I'm on the Accounting / Finance track. Always good demand there isn't there. Anyways on the College thing, just enjoy it. You only get to experience College Life once, so make the most of it. It's really a lot diff for me though, I don't live in a dorm or anythin, and I usually bum around the house pretty much all day if I'm not at Uni, but for god sakes all of you guys up there who are moving to college, don't fret that you won't get to see your HS buddies anymore (hell I don't really get to see mine because of diff. schedules / part time jobs etc.), but the oppurtunity is there to meet so many new people you've never seen before at College. And at least try to pass your courses now people.

I watched Woody Paige for about 2 weeks on Around the Horn. I threw the remote at the TV on day 1 after listening to him for about 2 minutes. He makes Kotex Boy look credible.

Rotoworld predicts sox to sign Jarrod Washburn

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) B Giles: He's starting to get up there in age. His power numbers have gone down the past couple years (yes, he's at Petco, but still...). He has a great BB/SO ratio, but you'd rather have him than bring back Frank at DH? Frank's only a couple years older anyway. If you're gonna oust Frank for somebody, at least make it worthwhile. Our outfield is set for next year, so there's no room for him at the inn there. The D'backs are starting to have a decent starting rotation with Vazquez, Webb, emergence of Halsey and the surprise Vargas. SO, why would they take on Contreras... how about instead we trade Marte to them since their bullpen still sucks? Maybe include a prospect or two. Mmm... Chad Tracy. I first was of that thought on Giles. I just don't think you can shy away from a guy who has a 1.018 OPS on his road games from this season though. I think the PETCO excuse is just so valid, because he'll hit the majority of his homers to right field, and it's just so bad out there. At the Cell, it's a guarantee he'll hit at least 10 more home runs then he would at PETCO. And he crushes righties, which we have a serious weakness at. He's only 34, so he's not really that old, he can still be very productive for another 2 to 3 seasons. And yeah I'd rather have him than bring back Frank. Thomas coming back from an injury is not good for numbers, his career has shown us that. There's no guarantee he's ever going to be 100% again, so we need a contingency plan in place. Vazquez can demand a trade and become a FA if that's not granted, doubt it will happen, but it's still possible. I doubt Vargas is going to continue the way he's been pitching all the way thru next season too. So Contreras makes sense for them, he's never pitched in the NL, and could even pitch out the bullpen. Will they make a deal for Chad Tracy for Count though? I doubt it, not unless someone like Brandon McCarthy is included instead. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) The only bad thing about this whole Chris Young being awesome thing is it means Jason was right all along. That's tough to handle. You've screwed him from any future success now.

Housewise just once, back in 1997. So I've been pretty lucky on that regard, doubt it will continue though, especially if I move overseas to work.

Rotoworld predicts sox to sign Jarrod Washburn
DBAHO replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Where's Anthrax to rub in his "I told you we'd sign Jarrod Washburn!!!"? Anyways, no way in hell this happens. Even if someone like Count is moved (to Arizona in a Chad Tracy deal please), Brandon McCarthy will get the 1st crack at the spot in the rotation. And even if do sign a FA SP, which is so damn unlikely, I think we may got after one of the Japanese guys like Daisuke Matzusuka. This off-season, it's very likely we sign a SS or 3B. Options for this include Bill Mueller, Joe Randa, Rafael Furcal and Alex Gonzalez. Whoever we sign should be able to be a #2 hole hitter in my mind, so we can push Iguchi down to say #3, #5 or #6 in a run producing spot. And then of course we can target someone for the DH spot. Brian Giles has been mentioned, even though his bat speed is declining. But these 2 stats pushes me to believe, if we can get him for a 2 or 3 year deal, jump at it; AWAY - .327/.456/.562 BB/K ratio - 96/52 (that's almost 2 to 1, insane really). -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) Let us know what you think of the food... Supposedly Seattle is the one place that is Comiskey peer for food. Especially with the Sushi thing they've got going on, definitely one of the top 3 or 4 nicest ballparks for mine, even though I've never been. Definitely wanna head out there one day to catch a ballgame though, hopefully by then management won't be so incompetent for the Mariners' fans sake.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) When did Cunningham move up to Kanny? Must of just been today, he played with Bristol the day before. Good to see him up, my man Brice is starting to rake as well.
-
Looks like things played out well on the predictions today. Dye was 2 for 4, Widger played and hit a 3 run homer, and did a good job catching Jose, Uribe at least moved up the order and was 1 for 3. In another thread I said Ozuna would prob lead off against RJ because of his lefty splits, and voila he goes 2 for 4.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) I think the Twins are the team to beat for the Wild Card. Even with a subpar offense compared to Cleveland, New York, Oakland and the Angels?

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Start by removing Timonael from the leadoff spot in the order. Hell get Ozuna into the leadoff spot for today. He's got splits of .323/.369/.369 against lefties.
-
A good listen, nice to here Mario's voice for the 1st time. Jason's love for the likes of El Duque and Jon Adkins really shone thru for me though.
-
On Dye, he's REALLY got to pick it up soon. Only hitting .183 this month. Why? Well one reason is probably because he only has 2 walks this month. When he had his best months, he had BB's of 6, 8 and 7 respectively. At least he's got a .881 OPS against lefties so far. He's one guy I really look to today who really has to perform well against The Big Unit today. We may see the Widge today as well, considering he has a .823 OPS against lefties. Of course with Contreras pitching, you want AJ behind the mound, and A.J's been pretty good against lefties so far this year as well.

QUOTE(Boxer83080 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) Alright Tony here is your answer..Stats don't mean s***...The Sox are 74-46 and have the worst Batting Average in pretty much all of baseball...So don't give me all these stats...It comes down to crunch time...who would you rather have...a proven player at the major league level who has been there before...or someone who just plain old sucks...Let me ask you who would you pitch around...Uribe or Boone... I love this, I seriously do. Ahhh boy, where oh where do I start. 1 - Stats don't mean s***. Tell that to the White Sox rotation and bullpen, or would you like Mike Jackson back too, because he has EXPERIENCE!!?? 2 - Uribe - .244/.288/.375. Boone - .221/.290/.350 3 - Worst Batting Average in all of Baseball. 23rd = 30 now does it? And even with the lack of runs they've scored in this month, they're still 14th in the league, the upper half.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) Do you have any clue what is going on in the lockerroom? You don't know that other guys have nagging injuries that are bothering them which Ozzie is trying to get rest for. You also have to realize that giving people days off can keep them fresh and help prevent minor strains and pulls that happen when the body gets too fatigued. Yep, lets just forget the fact he has a back injury, so he can keep playing every-day, hurt his back, and there ya go a DL spot for our hottest hitter (who mostly everyone hates here anyways because he's not CLUTCH enough).
