QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) Did they mean the Marlins could get Schmidt, because if it was us, I would Die. That would be the best rotation I have ever seen. Yes they are talking about the Marlins not the White Sox. And why would you take out Contreras out of the rotation after the way he's pitched in the last 2 months, and last night?
-
On how many teams would Burnett be a #1 starter for at the moment? Just something to consider when we're talking about a #3 or #4 guy in our rotation.
-
So no-one else is coming to LA on Saturday? That's a damn shame.
-
What is this Real World that you speak of? Did it get mixed up with the Lost World?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 06:42 AM) we cant afford to re-sign AJ, thats it, bottom line. He will get a deal worth more than Contreras. Payroll will increase by 10 to 15 million next season though, maybe even more, depending on attendance and how far the Sox go in the playoffs. With Konerko, Thomas and Everett's contract's coming off the books, that's over $20 million in payroll right there.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 05:26 AM) you dont have to be a "very good" pitcher to be better than kevin walker...but yeah i mean if you are looking for someone to replace walker or marte , sure villone will work. but if we are talkin pennant here, i better keep seein wagner guardado etc Cotts, Hermanson and Politte have the 8th and 9th innings nailed down. Villone will be perfect as a lefty LOOGY and a guy to use in the 6th and 7th innings.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 05:20 AM) oh come on...hes having a good year, but the guy is like 90 ( ok 35) and hasnt had a year where his ERA was under 4 since 1997....thats 8 years ago! sure, hes a solid lefty outa the pen, but come on "very good"? i dunno about that He's 2-3 with a 2.67 ERA this season. Pitches better against lefties than righties which is what we need, unlike some guy named Kevin Walker.

And Burnett's performance last night against the Brewers;

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:52 AM) Ya, like I said I'd deal them Bmac instead of Tracey and throw in Owens as well if he were locked up. I think Burnett is awesome. That's another interesting thing. With the prospects, would you rather include Sean Tracey and Ryan Sweeney or Brandon McCarthy and Jerry Owens? I think a lot of people are going to be split on this one.
-
Ok right now, if you could deal El Duque, Damaso Marte and Sean Tracey for a locked up A.J Burnett would you do it? Abso-freakin-lutely I would.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:45 AM) Actually Jenks has pitched more then 1 inning in the minor leagues and Baj has pitched more then 8 minors, majors it's all good.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:44 AM) If he gets on the open market he's going to make a s***load....no doubt. Think about it though, if you can trade for Burnett and lock him up, not only is this years team set but next years is basically as well. That's the issue KW needs to be hammering out right now, talking with Burnett's agents and seeing how much it's gonna cost to get him locked up. Anyone know who his agent is BTW, hopefully not Scot Bora$$.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:43 AM) i think id rather have jenks and baj take over the role, jenks has shown us that he compete from the one inning we all saw and baj has experience and improved, we dont need guardado Jenks has pitched 1 inning in the major leagues, and Baj 8, if the Sox have a chance to acquire a proven veteran like Eddie the Eagle to put him in that role, they'll do it.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:40 AM) I'd probably trade Anderson or Sweeney before trading Young. Shows how high Young's stock is especially after his last few weeks. Of course I'm still higher on Sweeney than most, and Anderson I'm still a little iffy about.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:40 AM) If AJ gets traded here expect him to be resigned quickly. Think Freddy or even quicker. The thing is, he's probably going to get more than Freddy, since he'll be the only real good starter available in FA if he decides to go that route. Some team like Detroit could offer him $12 million a season for 4 to 5 years.
-
QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:39 AM) Trade for Burnett and Guardado? Who wouldn't be giddy about that until you realize both may be gone next year, along with all the prospects that would be required to secure them. Guardado has a year left on his contract after this season, or a team option IIRC.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:38 AM) Trade them Marte, Tracey and Borchard...heck they traded DLee for Heeeeeeeeeeee Seop Choi!?!?! Why not? Marte has ALOT of value as his past 3 seasons place him in the top 20 or 30 relievers in the game. Tracey is a live arm, maybe Borchard would be enough??? Borchard in Charlotte - .243/.313/.442, 96 K's, 27 BB's. Don't think the Fishies will be wanting him greatly.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 04:29 AM) I honestly think this senerio could REALLY, REALLY happen. Sox land A.J Burrnet for Marte,Bmac, and OF prospect(don't think Anderson or Sweeny because of Bmac in the deal.) Sox get Guardado(take Marte's LHP role.) I just think it's more likely the Sox would deal an Anderson or Sweeney before McCarthy at the moment, even though he's bombed in his brief time up here. Of course if the Marlins wanted someone like Chris Young or Jerry Owens without us giving up B-Mac, than that makes things a whole lot more interesting.
-
I'm all for trading for Burnett IF we can re-sign him to a new deal when he's acquired like Freddy Garcia. Now if that does happen, a package of Marte, Tracey and an outfield prospect sounds pretty good to me. Of course the Sox can then go trade for a lefty like Ron Villone from Seattle to do what Damaso was doing. This way, Brandon doesn't have to be rushed, and he'll be ready at 2007 when the contract's of 2 of our starters will be finished.

Bucks Seeing Redd Through 2011

The Postons were his agents, of course he was going to take the extra $20 million, how stupid of me to think otherwise. -
Really terrible that something like this has happened. My Dad has relatives over in England, so we're trying to get in contact with them to see if everything is ok with them. Prayers and thoughts with the victims and their families.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) It also helps to steal them from other franchises. I was just fortunate we had an opening on our 40 man roster at the time. That might have been around the time the Rangers claimed Ryan Wing but I'm not sure on that.
-
It just feels like one of those years, let's just keeping riding out the good times and just enjoy it damnit because it's being a long time since anyone can say we've had a season like this.

Thomas wouldn't mind ending career with Sox

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) And just think what his OPS would be if he was only hitting doubles... Well that doubles and triples stat is all IMPORTANT ya know. -
And I have already become the Trade King.
