QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Why Zach Day!?! KW is dissapointing me with the Ted Lilly and Zach Day talk. Hopefully this trade doesnt happen unless there is a 2nd and bigger trade involved for us. How can Lilly or Day dissappoint you? They're both good pitchers who haven't reached the prime of their careers. Make no mistake, when 100%, Day is an excellent grounball pitcher who would be an ideal swignman for us as Gene said. JoshPR has also seen him first hand over the last few years IIRC, and speaks quite highly of him.

I had 1 Hot Dog here at the BOB. It will be my last.

Ok let's here the upcoming "Let's Promote Daigle" thoughts.
-
Yaroslav Korelev. Play now. Oops, that's right that ain't gonna happen. Gotta feel sorry for Mr. Brand. But yes, the Bucks will be back, too bad they are getting Terry Stotts instead of Flip Saunders.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Oh man.. I'm sitting by the front door waiting as I type. What will you be carrying? A baseball bat or a picnic for two?

Where's that runs scored stat when ya need it.

QUOTE(bulokis @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:44 AM) I dont know but I would like to see Oliver Perez from PIT. Get another lefty on our rotation. I know they have Duke and Snell out there so they might be willing to part ways with him. The way he pitched last season and in brief moments this season makes me think there's no way Dave Littlefield would trade him unless it was for a big bat, which the Pirates DESPERATELY need in their lineup (and no sorry Joe Borchard doesn't count).

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Hammer should like this... http://www.azcentral.com/sports/che...p2main0708.html So what's that 5 good SG/SF types now, and C or PG still?
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:36 AM) Yeah. AD for Walker straight up. Does Paxson have a hard-on for Chicago guys or what! BTW, Balta, a guy like Raja Bell has been mentioned for a couple years now. Would he fit this role to you? Bell signed a 4 to 5 year deal with Phoenix.
-
It's almost like Joe Borchard take two.
-
Too bad Hughes can't knock down a 3 to save his life either which is what the Cavs wanted from the SG position.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 04:23 AM) Now that they don't have to pay Hughes, does that leave the Wiz cap space to go after another big man (Ilgauskas/Curry/Chandler?) They also have Kwame Brown who is still at least something of an asset that can be used in a sign and trade...there are probably still teams who would be willing to give him a shot. It depends who Brown signs with. If its the Knicks or Hawks, not really much of a sign and trade that the Wizards would really want. I do expect them to join the Curry hunt now however, but he won't sign there because of Brenda Haywood.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 04:17 AM) So, I hope this doesn't sound really classless or callous--but I was wondering if people think flights to London will get cheaper. I'd love to go over and see my friends from my days in the UK--and just wondering if the flights might get more affordable. . . I wouldn't think so, if anything I'd think they be more expensive, as Britain may put guards on planes etc., and with the rising cost of oil, and well inflation.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 04:11 AM) Washington>>>>>>>Cleveland>>>>Milwaukee. Not now if Hughes signs with the Cavs. Wizards have no resemblance of a post game with their big men, and they'll struggle to make the playoffs next season because the East is pretty close b/w those 5-12 spots.
-
QUOTE(bats3280 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) GNR's Welcome to the Jungle hands down. That's the 1st one that came to mind because well a lot of players use it. One that came to mind for me was "Keep the Dream Alive" by Oasis. How appropriate for a closer.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 02:41 AM) Oh, but my family still lives in the 'burbs. I'll be back. Oh he's in trouble now.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) He's not that much better then Rowand... I say showing loyalty to him does more for team image in the long run... We're talking if Rowand is going to return to last season's form, that may not happen. Wells has a proven track record, and has 30-30 potential, which you can't say for many CF's at all, and his speed would fit in nicely with Ozzie's use of running. Is team image that important, when you have an oppurtunity to improve your team? Why trade for a Burnett, or Vizquel then to replace an El Duque or Uribe?
-
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) Ohh wow... I stand corrected... Well I still don't see the point in giving up the extra talent for him... If you could get Wells for Rowand and Tracey would you do it? Wells is faster and hits for more power.
-
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) Well if i'm not mistaken he'll be a free agent sooner though right? No, his contract runs thorugh to 2007, the same length as Aaron's;
-
So where's Steve Phillips going?
-
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) I think some of you also need to realize whether we like it or not this is a cash strapped team. Why on earth would we need Griffey or Wells for big money when Rowand will do a decent job the next few years for a very reasonable price. Wells is making just over $3,000,000 this season, hardly big money like Mr. Griffey.
-
I'll put it this way, there's a chance to acquire Vernon Wells, in a deal that Rowand must be included in. Would you do it?
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) Just curious, can you compare that to other centerfielders in the al? Rowand is 9th in OPS for all AL CF's. Only Finley, Reed and Logan have a lower OPS. Hunter and Damon are tied for 1st with a .845 OPS, Grady Sizemore already has a .805 OPS. Oh, Rowand has a 60/16 K/BB ratio BTW.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 07:53 AM) I don't think there's a chance in Hell we'll be re-signing Everett to a contract in the offseason. I think there's a decent chance KW might trade for him again, and that's being completely serious...especially if Thomas or Dye goes down with an injury. I also think that Gload might get the shot in the 1b hole before Dye...and Anderson could pull off something of an Everett type role this year if he doesn't get traded this year. I actually think Everett will be re-signed to platoon with Anderson. He gives us a much needed lefty hitter, and is great in the clibhouse which is something KW and Ozzie are very big on.

On Howard, the Phillies wanted a kings ransom for him, about 3 really good players whether they are major league or prospects.
