  1. It just depends if KW wants to give up some uber prospects for Wagner, or say trade Shingo and a mid - level one for Latroy Hawkins, Ron Villone or Scott Eyre.
  2. Liotta with 5 BB's is a little worrying, but a very good outing nonetheless with 8 K's and 1 ER. He'd probably be up with the Warthogs now if there was room.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) 2.13 era, 20 for 22 in save opps, he's been pretty dominate and he's just so damn good. I agree with your other points though, there are things to consider but if you can get Billy Wagner you have to do it, he's just to good to pass up imo, if he's available of course. Those stats are good, but he has struggled a little at home at Citizens a lot more than he's pitched away this season, just a factor to consider if he's going to pitch at the Cell, considering most of our pitchers have much better road ERA's than home ERA's in the past 2 years. But I'm just nit-picking.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Not having faith in a 5th starter is the concern of fans of any ML team. Let's just say the good thing is, we should have more faith in our 5th starter than this point 1 year ago. If El Duque gives up 4 runs and goes 6 innings each time, it gives us a chance to win, albeit a less of one that if say Buerhle, Garcia or Garland was on the mound.
  5. QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Bruce said that Jon Adkins would like come up for long relief. Bruce said we may be looking for another closer and a starter anyway. Bruce didn't mention my man Bajenaru whose ERA is 1.07 in 50 innings of work at aaa charlotte. Well that settles it, if that's truly what happens, Baj should be dealt in a deadline deal for his own good, and that could very well happen.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) I'd take Wags. He's just such a dominate closer but I understand what you're sayingl. By the way we don't NEED Billy Wagner though I'd love to have him. The thing is, Wagner hasn't exaclty been lights out as a closer this season, plus he's out of contract at the end of the season, and he's said he could even retire. A lot of question marks to consider if someone's going to trade for him.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:51 AM) With the contract that the Dodgers signed Derek Lowe for...there is not a chance in Hell he'll be moved. No one would want him. Of course there's one person who thought he would have been a real good signing because of his "GB/FB ratio"..... I still think if we're going to trade for a starter it'll be Schmidt, because we have some pieces (that could come from other upcoming trades), that will help San Fran. in the future, although Brian Sabean probably won't want to hear that.
  8. Is it just me, or would people prefer to trade for a lefty LOOGY or a good setup guy, before giving up a lot more for a closer like Billy Wagner?
  9. The Dodgers if anything are going to be buyers not sellers at the upcoming deadline. You saw the deal they made to get Brad Penny last season, if they trade Weaver they'll probably want a SP in return.
  10. Crede and Uribe homering back to back, who would have seen that coming?
  11. Haha, now you can lay off on Joe for one night.
  12. I guess with Rowand it's just what people would prefer. His good clutch hitting or a CF with a much better OPS.
  13. Why the D-Backs have held off and may continue to do so....;
  14. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) Well El Duque is starting tonight... and we still haven't heard of Jenks being sent down to make room for him. I am convinced the Sox are trying to make this happen, but I thought Shingo had a no trade clause. If it is possible, I'd like to see a deal for Scott Hairston, or Alex Cintron, or Matt Kata I could very well see it being for one of those 3, or Sergio Santos the SS prospect. I'd actually like Hairston, he's really slugging down in AAA, can play 2B to almost any OF position, a better man's Willie Harris for what you will. .321/.399/.622, 15 HR in 53 games, 38 K's, 21 BB's.
  15. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 02:15 AM) I just drove back from Dallas to Austin yesterday and I saw everything from $2.29 to $2.07. I remember being in Austria with a native Austrian friend of mine and as we passed a gas station, I said, wow, your gas isn't that expensive (after doing the money conversion in my head), then she says, Oh yes it is, and I say, Oh no, it isn't and then she says, Oh yes it is, cuz that's the price per liter!!! Which is to say it was, at the time around $1.25 per liter and 1 liter is .26 of a gallon. So there's $5 a gallon!!! Yikes. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You................ (It's 1.19 a litre down here BTW).
  16. So time to take the cat to the vet (you don't want to know what for), but it's always fun trying to cram him into his cage.

  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) While I believe that any talk of Rowand being bumped from CF by anyone in the Sox organization is nuts, at this point, I can see Rowand being traded. You have to trade value to get value and this off season a Rowand trade wouldn't shock me. That's my position as well, if there's a move out there that is going to make the Sox better by giving up Aaron Rowand, they are going to do it. I know people are going to say we are 60-29, but is that because of Aaron Rowand? No it isn't. I'm going to wait to see how he does in the 2nd half before making a definitive judgement on him, but in my mind he needs to start hitting for some more power and improving that K/BB ratio in order for him to stay a starter long - term on this team. That's why the Sox are getting linked to players like Ken Griffey Jr. in the media. Now on Anderson, I don't know what side I'm on regarding which position he would play in the majors next season, if he did play. I've heard people from Randar to 101 say he should be a real good CF and that he's better than Aaron, while others like Jason and Alex say that Rowand should definitely be the guy in CF. Because I haven't seen Anderson in CF myself, I can't make a decision on that.
  19. Cano could be used in a package to get Schmidt, considering they have Ray Durham who's 4 year deal ends at the end of this season IIRC. So there's things for the Sox to use in an El Duque deal. They could also ask for Eric Duncan although he only has splits of .242/.338/.388 although he does have 13 HR.
  20. 2 ER given up by B-Mac at Charlotte in 6 IP, sounded like a pretty good outing I thought, a lot better than he's thrown before. Anderson has an OPS of .859 now, not too shabby at all, although as always the 92 K/35 BB ratio needs to improve.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) NBA.com, yahoo, and espn all list Nelson at 6 and duhon at 6'1 so I dont think a 1 inch difference is enough to be a difference..... But hey if they want to give Duhon some good money be my guest we will just sign Jay Williams They are being kind to Nelson, he's really 5'10, and everyone around the league knows it. That said, I don't think we're even going to sign anyone because we're something like $29 million over the cap.
  22. QUOTE(CubsSuck1 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) lmao... what about the "doables"? :rolly What about the Wing Nuts?
  23. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) well your probaly right since qwerty knows everything He is NOT a free agent. He will be arbitration eligible, like Aaron Rowand was last off-season. His agent is Scot Bora$$.
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) I say highly doubtful...first of all in the CBA it's still almost always worth more money for longer to stay where you are, and 2nd, in addition to Houston and Phoenix, the Lakers and a few other teams will be gunning for a big name guy also. It depends if you were Ming or Stoudemire, would you rather play with Kobe Bryant or Dwight Howard?
