QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Dear Fans, I want to personally thank everyone -- my friends, my family, White Sox fans, baseball fans in general, the Chicago White Sox organization and, of course, my teammates -- for showing their support for me during the past three days of online voting for the final spot on the American League All-Star Team. The response has been amazing and humbling. Being named to the All-Star Team is a dream every 10-year-old enjoys when growing up playing baseball. Thanks to your votes, I will have the opportunity to fulfill those dreams on Tuesday night in Detroit at Major League Baseball's 76th All-Star Game. It will be an experience I will never forget. Thank you. Scott Hopefully this is going to help and Scott will remember this when we hammer out his next contract to stay on the Southside as well. He has 1 more year left on his current deal for $1,700,000 IIRC.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) I always liked him. Good guy, that Harold. I didn't think it was possible to have someone not as likeable or just being a plain old idiot as Harold Reynolds. Steve Phillips has taken that honor now however.

Thomas wouldn't mind ending career with Sox

About a week ago, some people were thinking that Frank should be taken out of the 3 spot with the way he was scuffing. Well the past few games will have shown the advantages of having him in the #3 spot, espeically with Scotty and Gooch in front of him in the lineup. His OBP is now .364 and he has an OPS of 1.100. -
Ok let's say Jenks has a K-Rod like finish to the year. Does he become the closer next year? Or a set-up man to the Herminator? Either way, if he can locate his pitches and can improve his control like Neal Cotts has done this season in the future, he should become our closer with that stuff of his. And the good thing is, he'll be cheap and under our control for the next 4 to 5 years, which once again shows the advantages of developing good, young players.

Have a good one Brandon! Hopefully we'll be seeing you kicking ass in Chicago sooner rather than later.

Spiff's going to love that.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) It's too early to tell. The 2004 draft is looking a lot worse than it did going into the year. Whisler is struggling mightily, Lumsden hasn't pitched all year, and Fields isn't thriving like we'd hoped. With that said, Lucy is looking better and the other top picks are looking even better (Gio, Liotta). Ultimately you can't say until 5 years down the road, but I still like the 04 draft better talent wise. Whisler was always going to be a project who was going to take a lot longer than other pitching prospects, and IIRC the Sox thought Lumsden had the best stuff of a college pitcher from where they were selecting. Either way, we got 4 good LHP pitching prospects from our first half a dozen picks.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) I'm liking it early, but I don't annoit anyone anything after two outings. Of course I didn't dislike the pick like so many others did. I have faith in the Sox scouting department. Yeah true that, I'd like to see what he could do in Kanny right now, but the Sox have done a good job in the last couple of seasons with the draft.

A good choice, let's hope the likes of Tyler Arnason perform better under Yawney than Sutter.

Nate Mcmillian to coach portland

Terrible move, no way the Blazers are going to be competitive for a few seasons at least. Wonder what Ray Allen is thinking right now. -
Contreras hasn't pitched that great at home, but he looked pretty good tonight. And those Devil Rays hit McCarthy pretty hard, and Garcia didn't have his best game last night. So yes, Contreras should be in our rotation in the 2nd half.
-
Just be glad we had room on our 40 man roster at that time folks.

QUOTE(professionalfan @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Cottsie's under 2.00 No-one would have saw that coming 2 months ago.

Burnett then proceeded to strike out 14 hitters.

QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/minor...tsheet2005.html Chris Young also mentioned in the BA prospect Hot Sheet Also, wasnt Sickels suuposed to do an overview of our top 20 prospects? I thought someone mentioned that yesterday. If so, where do you find it? He was supposed to but he may be doing it tomorrow instead. It's on minorleagueball, but he did the Cards today instead.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) I agree with fathom. Frank is just too damn selfish. Too bad that doesn't increase our all IMPORTANT doubles and triples stats does it.
