QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) I saved up my bonus points from my debit card and cashed in my change jar (okay, okay, it's a piggy bank shaped like a baseball, but you know...) and bought a digital camera. I got a Canon A520. So far it's pretty good. Hooooooray! Just don't break it like my parents did in Paris, so you have to use it like a normal camera. OOPS.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) Jonathan Givony: So does this whole “great white stiff” theory, does that give you any extra motivation to prove people wrong? Andrew Bogut: Not really, because there’s been the great black stiff too. There’s been Kwame Browns and there have been Michael Olowokandis too. Everyone forgets about those guys, but they went #1 in the draft too. That’s just the thing in America, the big white guy isn’t supposed to be as good as the big black guy. That’s something I can’t control, and I’m just going to work hard. There have been a lot of white guys who went late in the draft and turned out to be allstars. Nowitzki, Manu Ginobili, Stojakovic and so on. I really don’t have a worry in the world. I know I can play, and I don’t care what the color of my skin is. http://www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1011 I Bogut. He deserves to go #1, and I hope he does, Bucks draft him, re-sign Redd, get Ford healthy, and use the mid - level exception on a good SF/PF, they're back in the playoffs next season without a doubt. Oh and this is VERY interesting;

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Nearly every single time he has had a chance to throw someone out or hold a runner etc... he over throws it by alot. He's got too good of an arm then.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) I also was at the game, and Dye stood in his tracks for a long while before moving for the ball. Dye's definitely a liability in right field, mobility wise. He's got a good arm, he just doesn't get as many chances to use it as he really should in better situations.

QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) then put me on ignore. you don't have to read my posts. save yourself the heart attack and high blood pressure buddy. but i could give a flying f*** what you actually think. and if you let some words typed on the internet bother you, and that goes out to everyone on this board, you're f***in weak plain and simple. Adios Munchacho. -
QUOTE(Iguana @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) I'd sure do that trade. Oswalt is proven and damn good. You would, but Tim Purpura is rolling around on the floor laughing his ass off after being proposed that. Houston is gonna trade Clemens before Oswalt anyways. But yes on B-Mac, no he's not ready, and I didn't sway from that opinion even after spring training. His AAA stats prove he's still leaving the ball way up in the zone and he's getting killed HR wise, a big no-no at the Cell which we saw today. 4 BB's and 0 K's is hardly McCarthy like anyways, so I gotta say that was a little suprising.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 08:27 AM) He is one of those that loves to come on here, talk s***, give his two cents, yet never goes to a game. Seems like there are a lot of those around here. Like me.... BWAHAHAHAHAHA. But yes sox-r-us, over the last 3 games we've had an total of approx. 97,000, which is an average of just over 32,000. Still not good enough?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) I've got Assessment testing tomorrow so once again I will not be able to partake in the festivities. I'll swap ya for my Income Tax Final tomorrow, and my Accounting Concepts Final the day after.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Roy Oswalt available? I don't think so. If he was I'd send Mac, Anderson, Fields, and lifetime season tickets from the scout's section for that guy No way Tim Purpura's dealing his best young starter, especially when the Roger Clemens rumors keep popping up. It's highly unlikely we deal for a starter anyways, unless B-Mac shows he's not ready, and El Duque keeps having his arm problems.

They're certainly a team to keep an eye on, especially if they get all parts of their game going. Their starting pitching and bullpen has been really good so far, but some guys like Cliff Lee are known to have 2nd half fadeouts. Scott Elarton isn't really much of a 5th starter either. Their offense has been heating up a little in the last few days although it's nowhere near last year's pace. Grady Sizemore's made a big difference in the leadoff spot, but they need power production from the middle of the lineup, and guys like Aaron Boone to continue what they've been doing in the last month. I still think they'll finish 3rd though, with about a 85-77 record.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) Those pictures don't work but i know which ones you are talking about. She is only considered ''hot'' because she is an actress. She is very ordinary in my opinion, nothing really stands out about her. Btw they are not herpes... she supposedly has always gotten ''sores'' on her mouth her whole life. Qwerty already posted em once before (he does that quite a lot with a lot of actresses), so we know how he feels about her.

White Sox vs Buddy Bell's Royals 06/20/05

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) Lima has been lousy, but he can occasionally threw a gem. I hope we get the head case version of him tonight. When he's lousy he gives up quite a lot of homers, considering he's a flyball pitcher. All of the Sox hitters shouldn't take in a swing for the fences mentality though. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Last year, Podsednik hit about 10 homers. This year, ZERO so far. That's the key to Scotty's OBP rebound. He just tries to put the ball in play and run like hell. And last year he had a G/F ratio of 1.46, far too low for a speedy put the ball in play outfielder. This season? It's 2.10, .59 above his career average. Almost having an identical BB/K ratio has helped greatly too, 27 BB's, 32 K's. Last season he had only 58 BB's and 105 K's.

Two articles from the Sun - Times and Southtown, where KW thinks we might not make a major trade and fill any holes in house; Now here are the stats on those 5 players, for those who don't know much about our minor leaguers; Brandon McCarthy - 3-7, 5.48 ERA, 81 K's, 18 BB's, 11 HR's, 64 IP. Jeff Bajenaru - 1-1, 0.99 ERA, 41 K's, 17 BB's, 8 SV. Brian Anderson - .277/.346/.477, 71 K's, 27 BB's, 10 HR in 66 games. Bobby Jenks - 1-2, 2.67 ERA, 40 K's, 17 BB's, 15 SV. Ryan Sweeney - .262/.332/.320, 22 K's, 20 BB's, 0 HR in 53 games.

The key was always going to be Pods and his OBP, and he's bounced back beautifully from last season. However, the other aspects of the trade haven't gone down so well for the Sox. Luis Vizcaino has been a bust and shown he can't get out lefties, which was pretty much why we acquired him, and Travis Hinton has no chance of making the team in the future. But we used the money we saved on AJ who's been invaluable, and El Duque who's won 7 games, but the future isn't looking so rosy for him either.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Yep, those immortal word came out of that cute kid sitting in the field in that photo. It didn't take him long to get his priorities in order. "You've been a Naughty Boy!!!"

Already posted in ATH, so I'm merging it.

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) I think he counted widger catching contreas as 1 game, and El duque being sore as another so that is 2. Ahhh yes my bad, I was just confused by the wording of the sentence.

White Sox vs Buddy Bell's Royals 06/20/05
DBAHO replied to sox-r-us's topic in 2005 Season in Review
Emil Brown is the danger man in the KC lineup, he's been smoking with the bat lately, and the Royals have actually been scoring some runs, but they're starting pitching has also improved since the last time we saw em. -
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) True, but we had Widger catching for Contreras and a sore-shouldered El Duque pitching 2 of the games. How can El Duque pitch in 2 of the games? He only pitched in the 2nd loss of the series.
-
Hmmm that's actually a tough one, since I'm a pretty conserative person and really don't splurge on many things and I save my money. I bought some XBOX games a couple of months ago that I haven't had much time to play so yeah. But I'm definitely going to splurge on a Sox jersey while I'm over in the States........ if I can find one.
-
You can make all the arguments you want about .AVG and OBP but these are the simple facts 1) The Sox are getting great pitching, something they haven't had consistently for a long time. 2) The Sox have a bullpen that can keep them alive in close games like the Twins, when they're on. 3) The Sox have a wonderful record in 1 run games. 4) We have been great at clutch hitting all year. 5) We have wanted to beat the Twins for years now. We are finally playing the way they have for years, and people are still complaining.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 05:55 AM) I see. So they don't feel anybody can help them with that 17th pick? I find that hard to believe. There's some good player's to be had at that pick. They want someone who can make an instant impact this year. They don't think they can get anyone there at #17 to do that.
