Here we go; http://baseballanalysts.com/archives/2005/...ng_team_r_1.php

Checking out Oasis's new album Don't Believe the Truth. Got pretty good reviews down here.

If we can get Danks signed, I'm very much inclined to offer Anderson, Tracey and say Wes Whisler up for Adam Dunn, and see what the Dan O' Brien thinks about that. They need young starters BADLY, and we're pretty well stocked with em, so something could definitely happen there. And of course there's the whole Eric Milton thing. I guess O' Brien didn't go to Offering Big Contracts to Bad Players 101.

I came up with a scenario about 2 weeks ago asking if we should take Danks in the 3rd round if there was any chance of signing him. We got him in the 19th instead. Here's hoping...........

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 02:15 AM) So, we are giving TB one of our emotional leaders and a real class act, for a kid who is mouthing off about where he is in an organization. Bascially swapping a proven, consistent player for a younger, unproven, smart ass. No thanks. If you were stuck behind the likes of Reggie Taylor (who was in Charlotte last season), and you were producing far better then them, would you be at all happy? I'm prob looking towards the future too much (as I'm prone to do), but I think if he was given a chance, Gomes could easily hit over 20HR's a season. Of course with all the OF's we have the minor leagues, that's not going to happen.

QUOTE(doUrememberwhen @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) there was a perfectly good reason, I wanted to hear some thoughts on items of actuality, not some lame brain trade of interest. Well how about you actually state that in your original post, instead of just using the word bump.
-
Please do not just bump threads for no reason.

QUOTE(56789 @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) Newbies should be required to watch this video. http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting.php You stole my idea.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) I hear ya but theres a couple good looking young players on the Rox, I hope they stick it out and build with these guys and Clint Hurdle. I think that franchise hurt itself in the past by trading everybody every couple years. Keep the good parts and keep add guys who are better as opprortunities come, one step at a time. They've seen the light. They'll have room to move after this season when they stop paying Preston Wilson and Denny Neagle IIRC. That's around $20 million in payroll freed up. Rebuild with the young guys and invest in YOUNG pitching.

There's a thread already on Around the Horn on the Twins-D-Backs series. I'm gonna merge this with that.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) The papers say Frank got a standing O, even from the Rox fans. It sounded like it too on the broadcast, and then they just went nuts when he hit the homer. And Frank's never been that good as a pinch hitter either, so I'm sure he probably enjoyed that part as well.

Any guys 35 or over on our team that Sabean would ? And I can't see Feliz getting dealt. If there's any hope Bonds can play this season, they'll probably hang onto their chips for next season for 1 final run.
-
Here's an Everett Trade Scenario that I thought up (a lot of people don't want to deal him to the Angels, because of the fact he'd help them make the playoffs). Send him to Tampa Bay for Jonny Gomes (25 in October)(.340/.470/.715) and a good prospect. TB just released their DH Josh Phelps, and could easily use Carl in that spot. And Lou Pinella would probably like his fiery attitude as well. Gomes could become the 1st OF off the bench, negating the need for Timo. He would be the backup DH also, and could come into play for the DH role next season, depending on what happens with Frank Thomas.
-
Jack Wilson and Daryle Ward for Carl Everett and Ross Gload plus a prospect. You think the Pirates woulld possibly be interested? (probably not because Everett can't play the outfield).
-
Flip-Flopping.
-
Ex New York Mets GM. Says it all really.
-
Happy B-Day Guys!!!
-
And I traded him for Ben Sheets. Teehee.
-
I forgot to add this before I left for work. Remember the asking price for Randy Johnson sox-r-us? Paul Konerko, Jon Garland and Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney. Now imagine what the asking price for Mr. Pay-Rod would be.
-
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) AGain, tell me. If the Yankees want to trade for someone, who do they trade in return to get him???? They have 0 prospects AGAIN (unless you count Wang, but he is on their roster right now and I doubt he sustains his goodness in pitching) Chen - ming Wang. Robinson Cano. Eric Duncan. And most importantly, $$$$$.
-
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) That is why I have this tiny hope it might happen Let me put it this way, even if A-Rod WAS available for trade, the Los Angeles Dodgers would be the favorites to get him.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) If the Yankees determine they are out of it this year, why does it matter? Rivera has shown signs of being done earlier this year? Next season may be his final season anyways as an effective closer. They would definitely look to sell him at trade deadline if they determine they are out of it. Who else they can sell that some team might want? Sheffield or Matsui or Randy J are the only others that come to mind. At the deadline, the Yankees are never going to feel as if they are out of it. If they are behind, they trade for someone who can help them put them back on top. Matsui is going nowhere. He means to much in terms of merchandise in Asia etc., and they were working on a long - term deal with him in ST and he wants to stay. Sheffield one of the best OF's, once again going nowhere. Randy Johnson, that's a good one.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) DBAHO, You're in charge of keepin this one under control. I'm not even venturing back in this thread. It's not worth Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Too bad.... I got work in 30 mins.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) I agree Crede + BMac is not enough. See my posts above. I said Crede + BMac is a no brainer. I think though that Crede + BMac + Anderson would do it PROVIDED the Boss decided he is willing to trade Alex away. That offer would be a tough one for the Boss to resist then, I think. I would defintiely do it eve if it meant giving up BMAc + Crede + Anderson Look at what the Yankees gave up for Aaron Boone at the deadline 2 years ago. That should tell you what they'd accept for A-Rod. Anderson is going to be a good major leaguer, but I doubt he's going to be a yearly all-star.
-
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) Would you trade for Rivera then? That is someone the Yanks will definitely think hard about trading if they decide they are done this year. What would you give up to add Rivera to our BP? Who becomes the closer for the Yankees then? Gordon is perfect in a set-up role for them. The problem in the Yankees pen hasn't been Mariano Rivera, it's been the pitchers in front of him.
