  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) How about we give Freddy props for being awesome rather than making excuses for why we were wrong? Because we're Sox fans, and naturally we love to show anyone up (well some people ). Freddy has been absolutely superb since the Tampa game though. I was one of the few who was defending him after that, I still remember the "he's our 5th starter right now" posts. OOPS.
  2. I'll take a D for any of my subjects any day of the week.
  3. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) DBAHO...you need to get to a game...Chicago needs you at the game...didn't you see that stupid attendance thread. Its all your fault. Yes it's all my fault, how do I live with myself. Anyways, the Sox are in Oakland from July 1 to the 3rd or 4th IIRC. I may very well be able to go see them, if I can get a cheap flight from Phoenix via Southwest. I sure am gonna get my baseball fix when I get over there though.
  4. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) Well it is 8:49 in Chicago, and it starts are 11:30. So about 2:45ish. Ok thanks Steve, looks like 2 and a half hours sleep for me.
  5. Brewerfan's.net top 30 draft prospects; Carillo @ #19, Townsend @ #21, the other pitchers we've targeted don't make the list; Top 30
  6. How long until the draft starts so I can get a time frame in case I have to get up?
  7. Sucks to be a Bulls fan doesn't it. They may not make the playoffs if Skiles isn't back next season. If only Orlando waited a couple more weeks, than we would have Scott Skiles, not Brian Hill.
  8. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) IIRC, it means, if I remember correctly. Yes it does.
  9. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Grapes. Not the red ones, the green ones. They're awesome. Minus the pips.
  10. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) no I meant with Guardado we'd have 3. probably should change it to 2, it makes more sense that way. in fact, consider it done. I think 3 lefties is fine in the bullpen anyway, especially if you have 7 guys in there. Seattle had like 4 at the start of the season IIRC.
  11. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) having 3 lefties in middle relief makes a Guardado trade less likely, and because Hermanson is in fact pitching over his head, there won't be a trade for another closer until he comes back down to earth. Marte and Cotts. I am counting 2 unless you included the almighty Kevin Walker.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) I agree with you. I think Hermy would make a better setup man. This is how I would have things. Guardado = Closer Politte and Hermanson = Setup men Marte = Use in 7th inning, or in 8th when we need a lefty - lefty matchup. Cotts = Keep him in the 6th and 7th for what he's been doing. Vizcaino and Shingo = Mop up duty until they show they can handle more crucial situations.
  13. John Sickels review of the picks;
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 05:50 AM) So you're trying to tell me C isn't a need? Haha, yeah it is, but it's not the end all to be all. I've got faith in Hernandez and Lucy anyways.
  15. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) yeah, those darn packages costing over $100. Dusty's gotta feed his kids ya know. And those Chevy ads....... Dusty "Because I like to win!!!"
  16. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Well, going by that same logic, I don't see Crain mantaining a 0.76 era all year, or Rincon sporting an era under 2 I believe? Nathan is obviously solid. The thing is, even though Politte has great stuff, I'd rank Crain's a little bit better. He's a future closer for sure. A great luxury for the Twins to have really, showing once again the advantages of developing good young players. I didn't include J.C Romero either. Having 3 setup men with ERA's below 2.5 is just shows how good their bullpen is in the later innings.
  17. QUOTE(trexer @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) Why trade for either one of them when we already have proven closers in Hermanson, Marte & Takatsu? Marte a proven closer? Hermanson has not been good in his last few appearances. I'm not even going to get started on Shingo.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) I predict that there will be a Jessica Alba thread created in the next 24 hours. She's coming down under. w00t!!!
  19. An article posted on nbadraft.net ranking the FA centers. Dalembert ranked above Curry.
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) It's close. It will also be nice to see Luis pitch like he can. I think that definitely puts us over the top. I'd just put more faith into a Crain or Rincon / Nathan combo going into the last 2 innings, than a Politte / Hermanson combo. Cliff and Dustin have pitched absolutely great so far, but they're bound to come down at some stage, as evidence by Dustin's last few outings.
  21. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) what class would you guys rank eaton in? I think Eaton is a strong # 2. ( garcia, Grienke, ect) Eaton has just been superb this season, especially for my fantasy team. He always had talent, but he could never seem to get his ERA down to a good level, even though he pitches at PETCO. Peavy and Eaton is a hell of a 1,2 combo at the moment.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) If/when Shingo gets back to his 2004 level, will have the absolute sickest pen in the american league. I'd still take the Twins bullpen over ours even if that did happen.
  23. Pretzels. Lucky I'm coming to America right?
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) No, it was nobodies fault. Townsend wanted to go back to school to finish up his degree during the negotiation process. He registered for classes and MLB came up with a retarded ruling that he was no longer eligible to sign with the Orioles and would have to re-enter the draft. It was one of the worse decisions I've ever seen MLB make. There was also this story;
