    I'm a goin to Phoenix, The Land of the Desert, The Aussie taking America by Storm, So long as he gets thru Customs;
  2. Anyone else think that Gio's season this year could be a carbon copy of B-Mac's from last year?
  3. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) if you don't remember, he used to spray line drives everywhere back in the day. he could still do that now, but he insists on trying to swing for the fences every time. so he could, but his homerun totals would be down. So Paul Konerko could hit over .300 if he took that kind of mentality as well. Gotta remember Greg Walker is our hitting coach.
  4. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) that $66M could be $50M for us, and I'm not thinking of reverting him to 90s form, but he could still be a .320/20/100 guy, but he just tries too much to jack it out every time. but with Brian Anderson waiting, it's not a great idea. unless we spin off Brian Anderson for an absolute stud, it doesn't really make sense. I don't think there's any way Griffey's going to hit for .320 again in his career again.
  5. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) #3 - all I want is to win now, and if Griffey hits well for any number of reasons and can help this club win this year, I'm happy. Yes people have been on that track, but the fact is this. You do not trade for a guy who had $66 million left on his deal, when you have Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney waiting in the minors. We trade for Griffey, he automatically commands what about 10 to 15% of our payroll. Unless you're the New York Yankees, or Ken Griffey produces at a Carlos Beltran like rate, that's a bad, bad idea.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Wade Townsend is a Boras guy, is he not? No he's not;
  7. If Townsend falls to #15 the Sox have gotta grab him. Sure he may end up being a reliever, but you don't pass on a guy with his kind of stuff. I'd prefer Bogusevic ahead of Carillo, but that's just me. No way do I want Clement at #15, I know Jason said there's a guy we can take in the 4th or 5th who has better defense IIRC. Looks like the Sox are going for a "need" pick here and not takin the best player available IMHO.
  8. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) I could rob a bank. Anyway, if it was Pk for Griffey wouldn't you do it(don't think about the money right now)? I certainly would. Griffey's stats aren't unimpressive. They're pretty decent and he'd automatically become one of the better hitters on our club. He's batting .265 with 8 HR's and 36RBI's. He has been batting .283 the past 30 days. Pk is batting .230 with 14 HR's and 38RBI's. He's batting .275 the past 30 days. I would do it if you could move Dye to first. I already know Jabroni's and a couple of other's thoughts, but I want to hear yours. So Jabroni, no response please. Ok my thoughts; 1) I give Griffey until the end of the month before he gets injured again. 2) PK's deal runs out at the end of this season. Even if we don't resign him, that's $8 million that can be spent in the off-season. Payroll will get increased by another $5 to $7 mill for next season, so that's $15 mill to spend right there. 3) We want to spend our money on players who are coming into their prime and can contribute for a number of seasons. Yes Griffey is hitting the ball well this MONTH, but you don't seriously believe that's going to happen over a 4 year period do you? 4) Willy Mo Pena and Austin Kearns are better trade ideas than Ken Griffey Jr. 5) Why would Cincinatti trade for PK when they already have Sean Casey at 1st? 6) How good is Jermaine Dye going to defence at 1st?
  9. Speaking of Sean Tracey, now the Phillies were scouting him heavily a week or 2 back, and I see this little bit of news; Could Sean Tracey be a starter they would look at? They've got Gavin Floyd though, so they'd probably give him first crack. Polanco has always been an option at third base though.
  10. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) kotchman should be used as bait for pitching for the Angels. Personally I think Anaheim would be crazy to deal Kotchman when he's got Darrin Erstad in front of him. Maybe the Sox could go for a bullpen arm from the Angels instead. Doubt they'd give up someone like Scott Shields for Everett though.
  11. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:04 AM) I could see Jeff Davanon be part of a deal, maybe along with a guy like Maicer Izturis. Two versatile players who could help this year. And in Izturis's case, in the years ahead. [Could make Willie expendable as well, as they sox have their LH hitting 2bman to give Iguchi a rest.] I don't see the angels giving up a top prospect for a guy like Everett. Stoneman would be crazy to deal Kotchman for Everett, I agree wholeheartedly. Get Sean Tracey involved in the deal then. Anaheim is always looking for pitching, and there probably won't be a great role for Tracey in the future for us anyway (he just walks too many hitters). Izturis would be a nice get though, had a great year in AAA last season. There's no role for Davanon basically unless Timo is gone, which probably won't happen knowing Ozzie and KW.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) Beane chose to make Chavez, not Giambi, not Tejada, his franchise player. It would look foolish for him to simply give up on a struggling Chavez in the second year of a six year deal for something small. If Beane wanted to dump a big contract just to save money, don't you think he would trade Kendall before Chavez? The problem is that Beane TRADED for Kendall (don't you remember those Sox rumors in the off-season my fellow peeps?). It would be too big of hit to his ego (Flash Tizzle can fill us in on anything realted to Beane these days), for that to happen, or at least until one of their bonafide catcher prospects in actually ready.
  13. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) frank will NOT be traded. no way. The backlash from Sox fans I think would be far too great for that to ever happen. You think attendance is bad now, what type of message will dealing Frank Thomas in the middle of a pennant race send to the fans?
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Congratulations on your graduation (I presume it's your own). Your parents will take a lot of pictures and you will value them later in life, so will your kids. ^^ that. You only get 1 chance to experience these things so make the most of em. In one of my grad dinner photos with my folks, my Dad looks so out of it, quite hilarious really. No more wearing a school blazer and tie though.
  15. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) What sickens me in this whole situation is it reeks of Ozzie's desire to find at bats for Timo. If he would just give Carl Timo's at bats then everyone would be happy and we could get rid of Timo. If only Everett could play the outfield, then we wouldn't have a problem with Timo.
  16. Ok this is what I'm thinking. I still think there's no way Frank Thomas is dealt. He means too much to the fans, in terms of attendance, his contract option automatically kicks in if he's dealt, and that will put most teams in the NL and ones who have a good DH automatically out of the race. So Everett makes the most sense, which is unfortunate because this situation was bound to come up at some stage. Here's what I'm proposing. Some of us want a bonafide 1B prospect to take over for Paul Konerko next off-season. Casey Kotchman. Lefty hitter (which is something we need), and he's only 21. Look at these stats in AA and AAA from last season; AA - .368/.438/.544, 10 BB's, 7 K's, 3 HR's in 28 games. AAA - .372/.423/.558, 14 BB's, 25 K's, 5 HR's in 49 games. If there was some way KW could pull an Everett for Kotchman deal, I would take that in a second. We'd basically have our own version of Justin Morneau, and the best thing is, he's cheap and under out control for a good 4 to 5 years. This was some pieces on Kotchman from the start of the year from BA; Other prospects the Angels have, are Edwin Santana, he's probably untouchable. Dallas McPherson would be very nice, but he's starting to heat up, and they need another bat as it is, so why give up one, Kendry Morales (which would be interesting considering the Cuban connection we have already, not sure if he can be dealt or not though) and Howie Kendrick who is a good second baseman prospect . But if KW is smart, he could try to get a 3 team deal going, involving Oakland and Eric Chavez. Oakland needs to rebuild, and they could get quality prospects from both the White Sox and Angels, kind of like the Carlos Beltran deal from last off-season if you get my drift.
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Best & Funniest Link of the Year ^^. Very, very funny.
  18. Here we go; Would Washington be interested in taking back Everett possibly (although it's doubtful considering he can't play the outfield)? Either way, Anaheim looks the best bet;

    See that drunk girl speeding down the street, She's worried about the state of public schools. She likes to party, she likes to rock, She prays that our schools don't run out of chalk. Luke, be a Jedi tonight! Just be a Jedi tonight! Do it for Yoda, while we serve our guests a soda. Uh, and do it for Chewie and the Ewoks, and all the other puppets ... Luke, be a Jedi tonight!
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Are we talking about Preston Wilson going to the White Sox, or going to another team? Because... Why the f*** would we want Preston Wilson? I'll take Craig Wilson for 500 Alex.

    QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) I rented Assault on Precinct 13 about a week ago, thought it was fantastic. That's all I got. Isn't that a follow up to Training Day?
  22. I always hated the Joey Galloway trade (2 1st's for Galloway). That ended up to be Steve Hutchison and Koren Robinson. It didn't turn out so bad after all I guess.
  23. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) I honestly can't believe anyone would even suggest him. Griffey can't stay healthy to save his life, he still has $66 million left on his contract, and he has been on the decline for the past 4 years. The Reds would love to dump him on some stupid team. They're stuck with him. Period. Other outfielder like Preston Wilson who you've already mentioned on other threads will easily be dealt before him.
