  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Actually you did in this post. Of course a lot of people do forget that Chavez is notorious for being a slow starter.
  2. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) He doesn't have any stats - that's why I guessed it was. Do you know anything about him? Westbrook was awesome on opening day - and repeatedly has been beat by team's aces - but how does he have a 5 ERA? I like us in that one - if El Duque is healthy. Westbrook got killed against the Tiggies numerous times. He's been real good in his last 2 to 3 outings though.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 06:07 AM) You can knock Cotts' control all that you would like, but to say he doesn't have above average stuff is pretty silly when he's struck out almost eight guys per nine innings in his short career... Just my thinking. You can get on a guy like Russ Ortiz all you want for I care because he walks batters, but look at his K/9 stats for this season. At least Cotts strikes guys out. 2 walks in May only, is also very, very promising.
  4. On all this Chavez talk, if there is any way we can get him without giving up B-Mac, Anderson, Sweeney or Gio Gonzalez, then I'm inclined to do it. Fields can move across to first base if we keep him, and him and Rogo will have a nice battle to see who makes it at that position at that position in the next few years. Sean Tracey, I think will probably be included in any deal. Of course, if Oakland pays some of Chavez's contract, that only sweetens the deal.
  5. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) How about we wait until the trade deadline? Would that give you enough stats to make an informed decision with? Considering he plays on a team awful on O, wouldn't he be better hitting here if Frank comes back strong? I know the same argument applies for Chavez (playing on a team awful on O), and I agree with that. My problem with Chavez is simply that his performance/$ is way too low a ratio, especially for a team like ours which spends very carefully. Joe Randa >>> Vinny Castilla.
  6. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) Belliard??? Sorry, Roberts and Soriano have that position covered and even if one of those weren't able to make it Iguchi should be next in line. As far as CC, Buehrle and Garland have both been more dominant than him. Martinez is horrible right now, Millwood and Lee have good numbers but dont have enough wins. I think he was being sarcastic.
  7. Happy Birthday Y'all!!!
  8. Maybe the Twins would take back Danny Kolb possibly, Atlanta have soured on him pretty quick. Jackass Jones really isn't good enough to keep his head above water as an everyday starting outfielder.
  9. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) Is this the "career" that consists of a total of 78.2 IP before this year? 5 total games started in this "career". I don't really see how 60 games prior to the 2005 season is enough to gage Cotts entire worthiness on. Take out the games Cotts has started. What would his career ERA be FWIW?
  10. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Whatever happened to Anthrax... haven't seen that one around in awhile. He saw my 16 questions and ran off.
  11. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) LOL, Anthrax would have Russ Ortiz penciled in for 250 strikeouts too. And the all important walk total............
  12. A get out of school free card.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) OVER-RATED OVER-RATED They're just giving us all the motivation we need right there.
  14. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) Gio is/ should be an untouchable. Can't see a deal that would make him trade bait. Some people (cough.. Jabroni.... cough) have said they would be willing to include Gio in a package for Billy Wagner.
  15. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Paging Dmitri Young, Paging Dmitri Young... Long lost half - brothers.
  16. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Guardado would have to be considered, esp. with his great control. With both sox lefties Marte and Cotts being erratic at times, he could look nice on the south side [though I don't know what Sea. would want--maybe a young SP [sean Tracey] and bullpen help [Munoz /Diaz/ Baj] a replacement for Bret Boone--[Willie Harris] I think it's more likely Seattle would deal Ron Villione before Eddie Guardado FWIW. They do have 4 lefties in their pen, or they did about a month ago (don't know if they still do).
  17. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) As far as I can tell, this his last year on his contract. It was a three year deal with the third year a team/player option. The Mariners declined it, but Guardado picked it up. Well if he picked it up, wouldn't he still have next season, since he was signed in the off-season of 2003? (the same year as Latroy Hawkins was signed by the Flubs).
  18. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Maybe he can be the third set-up guy that we so desperately need. Oh boy, we're really opening ourselves up here for the Cotts "Haters".
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) Running to first in his first ab looked like he pulled a hammy again. Can't say it's suprising, quite sad really.
  20. I thought he had a $6 million contract for next season as well IIRC?
  21. But he manages to sneak in a go against us for our weak turn - up for last nights game;
  22. 47 homers. Yes he would have hit that in our "loaded" line-up according to some.
  23. BUT HE WALKED A BATTER IN HIS LAST OUTING!!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH COTTS!!!!
