QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) I know one thing, my #1 choice is Williams because I think the guy is gonna be an absolute stud. Think Derrick Brooks. I freaking love the idea of him, Url and Briggs. Uhhhh Williams ain't a LB there Jason.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) Plus isn't Miami said to be the front runner for RB LaMont Jordan in free agency? I believe that is what I heard. They have a number of holes to fill and not that many draft picks. If they can get a player like LaMont Jordan to play RB for them they can use the draft pick on other needs or trade it. The Raiders are most likely going to sign Jordan as their feature back after they trade Woodson.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) If that's the photo you are referring to, I'm fairly confident that it's not Jenks in the background. Looks like that guy's a little older than Jenks. One of the catchers maybe?

Those are some good reads there Alex, nice job. Would have been a nice experience like you said.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) Anthony Thomas ran behind the same line, and when Thomas ran well for us (i.e. 2001, specific games this year), we won. He's a bruiser. He doesn't fumble. In the fourth quarter, that's where A-Train makes his money. I agree with you, ws91403, some team is going to get a damn good RB in Thomas. The Bears also had a passing offense in 2001. I wouldn't give up on Jones yet, at his best, he has shown he can easily rack up 100 - 150 yards rushing and is a pretty damn good receiver too. And A-Train isn't going to get a starter's job elsewhere, there's too many damn good RB's in this year's free agency. -
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) when i went to canada in january, my gf's family would not stop commenting on my midwestern accent. Of course I had more than enough ammo just with one simple comment.........'eh?' At least you can be thankful it wasn't an Aussie Accent.

Best Film - The Aviator Best Director - Clint Eastwood Best Actor - Jamie Foxx (pretty much a lock) Best Actress - Hilary Swank Best Supporting Actor - Morgan Freeman's probably going to get the nod here Best Supporting Actress - I want Portman to win, and she's got a chance, but I think Blanchette's going to pull this one off.

Best of luck Alex, I'm sure you'll do fine though.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) Great signing for the Bears. I was hoping the Chiefs would try to go after him, but they need Law more. I doubt that one will happen either. William you'd definitely know more about the Chiefs than me, do they have the cap room to acquire Woodson from the Raiders, even though it's highly unlikely the Raiders would trade within their own division. -

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) If Rattay is the long term guy, then they won't need to draft a QB that high anyway. Oops my bad. I meant isn't. -

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) I could see the 49ers trading down to get Edwards if they aren't happy with how Rodgers or Smith look. Mike Nolan's going to interview Edwards, Benson, Smith and Rodgers. It's going to be hard for the 49ers to trade down a few spots though, because no-one wants the #1 pick, no-one's going to trade up for a Rodgers (at this stage). All signs point to them taking to local boy in Rodgers and rebuilding. Tim Rattay is going to be the guy long - term anyways. -

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) If Edwards is gone and Williams is there at 4, Minnesota will be on the phone with Angelo. Which one of the top 3 teams is going to draft Edwards though? -

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) I dunno. I really doubt that the Bears will be drafting another QB in the 1st round for quite awhile. Grossman was starting to produce before he went down last year. I wonder, would the Bears trade inter-division with Minnesota? #4 for #7 and #19...? I doubt it. It looks like one of the WR's is going to fall to #7 at least, and there's probably no-one else the Vikes really want to trade up for. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 02:46 AM) Could the Bears be looking at Smith or Rodgers if they slip to #4 I don't even know if Smith is that much of a better prospect than Grossman coming out. Rodgers I don't think will slip past #2 (latest sources think Miami could draft a QB), especially after his height was confirmed as 6'2 and not 6'1. Most likely, the Bears sign Fiedler to back up Grossman, and draft a WR or RB, depending on the best talent that they can pick at #4. -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Tiger and Vijay go down in today's 2nd round of the Accenture Match Play. Vijay to Jay Haas, and Tiger went down to Nick O'Hern. Nick O'Hern, go the lefties. Now all I need is for Adam Scott to win the tournament (if he's playing) and I'm happy.

Defensively I think the Bears are pretty damn good. I don't think you can really draft Derrick Johnson at #4, because it's not worth paying 2 linebackers big bucks. They can draft a CB with a 2nd or 3rd round pick, as there are a lot of good CB's in the late 1st early 2nd round range who could fall. So really they need all the playmakers on the offense they can get, but I wouldn't rule out a trade down with a team like San Diego or Dallas (highly unlikely for the Cowboys though). -
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) Steelers cleared a good amount of cap space recently with releasing Jay Reimersma and starting CB Chad Scott. So they could be interested in Woodson, but hopefully not at 10 million. I'm thinking the Steelers need a WR to replace Burress more than a CB, At least they can draft a good CB in this draft with an early pick.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) Excellent signing! I hope Mush can help turn Gage and (maybe there's still hope?) Terrell into solid receivers. Not to mention we finally have a threat at WR. Here's to a great career with the Bears, Mushin! Just some things to be wary of with Muhsin; In 2002 he only had 63 receptions and 2003 only 54 receptions. Last year he really found a comfort zone with Jake Delhomme however, but it took at least a season to get that to work. So I don't know if he'll have major instant success, but Grossman has a big go to guy in the end zone now, which is what the Bears DESPERATELY needed. He's 31 at the moment, probably be about 34 since it's a multi-year deal when it's up, can he keep producing at that age? Still I think it's a great signing though, and the Bears shouldn't pull away from drafting a WR just beacuse they sign Muhammed. Edwards or Mike Williams could provide more in the long run than Benson or Williams, if Lovie Smith goes with a pass happy offense. -
Our country didn't agree to the Kyoto agreement either, although our government is under pressure from the likes of the "Greens" to join, and I'm in favor of doing something to help fix global warming in the long run.

Wow that is a huge signing for the Bears, it looked like all signs pointed to him joining Donovan and TO in Philly. And to answer Kalapse's question, it could very well be that they are going to take Benson or Williams at #4 now. I don't know if they think Thomas Jones can be the guy long - term. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) Woodson = o-ver-ra-ted. Anyone else think the Vikings are going to replace their cap space from trading Moss to possibly acquire Woodson? I can't really see much of a fit with many other teams in the league.

Good read here about the Crede Situation and the future;

Thought I'd start a thread where people can put forward who they would like to win the awards at the Oscars tomorrow night, and who'll they think will win. So post away, my list will be up tomorrow.

Leave it up until opening day, and from now till then we can decide what to do, whether to keep it up, or create a new thread etc.
