QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) In the NFL, it doesn't matter. Yes I know, but knowing Parcells, if Bledsoe is signed for 2 years, Henson won't be starting til 2007 and that's an IF.

Just thought I'd post this for the financial geeks here;

QUOTE(beck72 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Polanco's best positions, in order, seem to be 2b, 3b and then SS. The sox need a guy who's best position is SS, 3b and then possibly 2b. Polanco doesn't seem to fit that mold. The problem is, is there anyone out there at the moment either on the trade market or via free agency that we can get to fill that need. At the moment, I'd probably suggest Alex Cintron, but there's not really too many others, although I'm sure KW is checking all of his options.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 06:21 AM) Good chocolate, cheese, and sausages too. But the beer - OH, THE BEER...!!! As to the article, I'm much more pissed to hear that speaking freely in the American press cost the guy his job than I am about people pissing on GWB's likeness. While there is some objection by Belgians according to the article, most telling is HOW LITTLE objection there really is. The populace apparently understands that they have to host him and applaud politely and meet some minimal threshold of American appeasement, but they aren't going to feign love for the guy and they shouldn't have to. Ah yes the Beer. I had this beauty when I was in Malaysia just over a year ago, probably the best I've ever tasted.

If this is more than a 1 year deal, I am so pissed at Parcells right now.
-
On Valdez, the guy's biggest asset is his arm and defense, so mabe in a pinch he could move over to 3B if he had to. But Burke's ability to play there could give him an edge possibly to make the 25 man roster instead of starting the year in Charlotte depending on how things play out.

I hate Johnny Davis. Just thought I'd say that.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) If a tree falls in the woods with no one around, does it make a noise? What is the sound of one hand clapping?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) It takes a big asshole to take 105 million instead of 60 million. I guess he didn't know much about the market and how 60 million and living part of the year in Chicago is better than 105 million and living part of the year in Detroit. Just thought I'd throw it out there. Is Maggilo Ordonez worth $105 million though Tex? If Maggs didn't hire Bora$$ as his agent, who knows what type of deal he would have gotten.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Or bleaching their hair beyond human recognition. Or fake baking to get a pretty tan that will, eventually, leave leather looking skin. At least girls don't go bald (the best pro Guy joke I could come up with in short time frame).

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) That's a bad pic, he looks kinda fat. When exactly does his leg fall off ?...I forget. When it develops gangreen.

I've got no doubts he'll be the #1 starting pitcher for the Barons come the start of the season. But what do the Sox do with him after that, if he keeps pitching the way he did last season, promote him to the majors or just to Charlotte. Personally I'm going with the latter, and keeping him there for the whole season. Charlotte is a good hitters stadium, so it'd be a good learning curve for B-Mac before he hits the Coors Field of the AL in the Cell.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) Wouldn't surprise me at all. Go for the SS, Uribe could always move over to 2B if the pick worked out. I could see the sox going for a good glove, good OBP guy with speed who can make solid contact. The sox draft a SS #1 and he might be ready by the time Uribe's contract is up in case Juan tests Free agency The Sox just need to draft the best player available, especially considering they won't have a 2nd round pick this year. Weaver or Drew could still be very well on the board @#15.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 07:55 AM) So, the time will remain a weekday evening? Looks like it. I don't think many people will be able to go for the times you've suggested Knight.

Justin Morneau's Offseason Problems

The off-season hasn't been kind to a lot of the younger Twinkies players, Period. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) The biggest mistake the Sox are making is not giving Cotts starts in spring training. Neal Cotts has all the ability to be a good starting pitcher and It sucks that he's kind of stuck in a rut. I think he'll be a good reliever, but no doubt in my mind that he'd be a good starting pitcher if given the chance. I just wonder with Ozzie around if he's ever going to get that chance to start, because I think Ozzie has pretty much made his mind up that he's going to be pitching out of the pen as a lefty. In a perfect world, I'd like to see him back down at Charlotte starting, working on developing his other pitches, but that probably ain't going to happen.

Damn I hope the game comes out on XBOX down here, otherwise I may have to order it from overseas via Amazon, but then there might be compatability issues with the Aussie XBOX. Otherwise I'll just be playing on PC, and won't be able to OWN all of ur asses on XBOX - Live.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 05:46 AM) The Leprechaun Jockeys was a really, really bad episode. They need to do another baseball themed episode. I loved the music when the horse kept winning all of those races though, and Homer's quote; "Man I got more trophies than Wayne Gretsky and the Pope combined"

I'd go with Buerhle over Maggs. I just don't think Maggs is going to have a very good year power wise, and Buerhle's a pretty sure thing as a starter, even though he's not going to put up a lot of K's for you.

My blog is in my signature as well. I don't know whether I'll be more active during the baseball season, generally most of my thoughts go around in these forums, but I might also try to do some recaps etc.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Buehrle was must be worth twice as much as we are paying him since he's so much better on the road than at home. Just looking at that contract, if Buerhle continue on with his great form over the next few seasons, how big of a bargain will that contract be compared to other starting pitchers around the league?

QUOTE(marsh @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) Same year, Sox pitcher. Might be biggest fluke season of all time. Thanks to Don Cooper and the cutter. Man did that come out of nowhere or what.

Some nice finds there Tony with the 2 screenshots. Those 2 things are something I really wanted added to the game, just to make it far more realistic from a GM's perspective. With the create a stadium and owner mode, doesn't look like EA's rested on their laurels which can only be a good thing.
