  1. Some questions, where'd you draft Pedro? Did you have the 1st pick and drafted Pujols? Did you draft Lew Ford before Jermaine Dye? Overall it's a pretty good team, but there's some guys on that team I'd be worried about like Kent and Otsuka.
  2. QUOTE(Heather Lee @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) How can the Bulls be ranked below the Devil Rays?????? 2 words. Dick Vitale.
  3. Hankins was the major one who left, which was a bit of a shame considering he can play third base along with the catcher position, which is something the Sox could have used in the future possibly. Best of luck to him at the Yanks though.

    Thoughts and Prayers to you and your friend Steff.
  5. Charles Woodson to be moved very soon. I certainly hope it ain't the Cowboys;
  6. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) No question about it. They should give those guys (especially Jefferson) as many minutes as possible. I don't think Danny Ainge would mind that at all. The problem is, Doc Rivers wants no rookies on the floor come playoff time.
  7. QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) 24 and 10 in his first game What a terrrrrrrible trade, huh. He shot 10 from 18 from the floor and 4-6 from the FT line. Something tells me he ain't going to keep those percentages up for the rest of the season. Good to see Delonte West had a good game as well. Al Jefferson shows what he's capable of in 12 minutes on the floor going 4-4.
  8. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 07:00 AM) I can't agree with you anymore, we are all Sox fans.. I think, but if anyone thinks outside of the "Sox-talk" Box you have the Box jumping down your throat. Now if I was to say that KW was the best GM ever and we should sign him to a long term deal...I would be an Admin, as often as I post here. Somehow I don't think that's ever going to happen.

    If Valdez can play 3B I'm inclined to give him the job. But if Ozuna can show that he is at least capable of handling the utility spot and keeping his head above water, than it's probably better if Valdez gets regular AB's down at Charlotte.
  10. Did anyone else see this trade as well? You can say goodbye Mike Dunleavy.
  11. Some real good advice being shared around in this thread, I've definitely taken something out of it. My two cents. As it's been pointed out, practise makes perfect. You aren't going to have perfect interview first time up where everything goes fantastically, it just doesn't happen. My first one for a casual job, I was a bumbling wreck, and wasn't very confident in myself. The more interviews you have, the more you get to open yourself up to the interviewer. Body language is also extremely important I've been taught from my careers counsellor at High School. You don't want to slouch back and look lazy in your seat, and sit on your hands because you extremely nervous. Make sure you make eye contact at all times, and be confident in yourself. Another thing to learn, is to actually have some information and know - how about the job you are applying for and the industry you will be possibly working in. My sister applied for a job at the Treasurer's Office for the National Government down here, and they asked her 35 minutes of questions about what she thought of taxes, super - annuation, how they work etc. If you can do well in this regard, you'll have so much better of a chance at getting the job. It's also good to have some questions to ask the interviewer at the end of the process, to show that you interested and want to know more.
  12. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Yeah, its pretty hard to replace a roid pumping, s*** talking, loud music playing, moron like that. You forgot the cork.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 01:05 AM) Does anyone know Brooks Boyer's email address. I'd like to ask him a few questions for a research paper. I'd appreciate any help with this. I'm fairly sure it was posted somewhere in an old thread; if you do a search, you'd probably be able to find it.

  15. Courtesy of 82games.com, key stats of Walker for this season; On Court - -12.3 Off Court - +5.4 Team Net - -17.7 Offense points per 100 possesions ON Court - 98.6 Offense points per 100 possesions OFF Court - 112.4 Defense points per 100 possesions ON Court - 112.4 Defense points per 100 possesions OFF Court - 98.6 Effective FG% - 45.6% Effective FG% Allowed - 51.2% We know Walker's a good scorer, and has been an all star before. However there's been a reason he's been traded about 3 to 4 times now, and I can't see how it's going to benefit the Celtics if Pierce and Walker are going to jack up about 50 to 66% of the team's shots.

  17. A summary of my thoughts; WINNERS: San Antonio - Getting Nazr Mohammed for only a 1st round pick, that'll be in the 25-29 range and the long term deal of Malik Rose was a great move. Even though it could hurt their chemistry, Mohammed when he plays at his best (even though he is inconsistent) is an upgrade over Nesterovic. Golden State - A week ago it didn't look like they were going to be able trade Dale Davis's expiring contract and they would have just kept him and gotten the cap space. Now they trade him along with Speedy Clayton for a top 5 PG in this league easily when healthy. They're still stuck with some horrible long - term deals (Foyle and Fisher), but at least they've got some hope now. It'll be interesting to see what they do with Mike Dunleavy this off-season. Atlanta - Losing Walker in the short term will hurt no doubt, but frankly who cares. They should be losing games to get as many ping pong balls as possible, and trading Walker will alow Childress, Smith and Harrington all to start, which they need to do. Bogut or Chris Paul will probably be wearing a Hawks uniform in 2006. There have been rumors of Harrington being shopped though. Philly - Chris Webber is the perfect big man to pair with Allen Iverson. He won't clog the inside, and Iverson can drive inside and dish to him outside the free throw line, so C-Webb can hit jumpers. Short - term the 76'ers look dangerous. If Samuel Dalembert can start playing to his best in the playoffs, this is one team I really wouldn't want to face. WAIT AND SEE: Sacramento - Losing Webber hurts no doubt, but it's too early to judge. Geoff Petrie isn't a dumb ass (he stole Cuttino Mobley from us). Peja will probably get back to his best with no Webber around, and this will help their chances of re-signing him instead of Peja bolting to the Lakers when his deal is up. New Orleans - Probably an early loser for now, although Baron has hardly played this season, so it's not like they'll miss him on that regard. $22 million of salaries will come off the books for Davis and the Big Dog Glenn Robinson alone. The Hornets have to sign a major free agent this off-season (probably can't be a guard, a SF or PF most likely, or maybe Ilgauskas if they want to move Magliore to PF) to make this deal work. LOSERS: New York - Isiah Thomas must seriously be on very thin ice right about now. You do not trade contracts that expire sooner, for heavier contracts that expire 2 or 3 years afterwards for pretty much the same players going either way, for some draft picks that are going to be in the early 20's at best. I don't get the Mohammed for Rose trade at all, they've already got a little bigger version of Rose in Kurt Thomas. Taking on Mo Taylor could stunt Mike Sweetney's growth in the long - term if they play him as well. Boston - Doc Rivers, your locker room bickering just up about 95%. Ricky Davis can't be happy about this. Tell me this, how are they going to find shots for players not named Paul Pierce or Antoine Walker. Jim O'Brien almost made it work, but quit trying. Unless they can get Gary Payton back (he could be headed to Minny or Seattle), the Celtics are going to get owned at the PG position in the playoffs. Rivers is a great motivator, but I don't think he's a good enough X's and O's coach to make this work.
  18. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) Could it be they didn't join in our attack because their intelligence agencies were telling them there were no WMD and our data was faulty? Would it be our responsibility to fight any war that they wanted to engage in? If the tables were reversed and France, Germany, or Russia came to the UN and said, hey let's destroy Country 323BZY, we have evidence they are a threat and need to be stopped. Do we say Yep, let's go get them, if we didn't believe they were a threat? How many billions of dollars and thousands of lives do we spend "rescuing millions of people from the death grip of a mad man"? More bodies are piling up in the Sudan. Do we bankrupt our Social Security system to pay for rebuilding Iraq? Do we not rebuild our schools and instead build schools in Iraq? Do we stop research on Cancer, Aids, Parkinson's, to build police stations in Iraq and train their officers? How far do we harm America to help Iraq? If rescuing people was such a big deal than why the hell aren't we in Sudan? Why aren't we taking out China and saving billions of people? The WMD is always going to be a big negative for those against the war in Iraq. The fact is still to this day that they haven't found 1 single WMD, and that was what made our Prime Minister send troops in the Coalition of the Willing in the 1st place IIRC.
  19. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) why are you singling me out? I was just commenting on the inappropriate pictures that made light of what some elitists on this board deem a "inferior" country, who gave up some of their sons lives in the line of duty. as for the MIA/POW "satire" more inappropriate behavior. I wasn't, or at least that wasn't what I intended. The term inferior for a country is a bit of an iffy subject as well. I can see your point about people ridiculing Poland, and how the families victims must be feeling, but people are always going to do that considering Poland isn't a large country like Russia or France.

  25. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) The last all-star caliber center for the Golden State Warriors was Joe Barry Carroll (1980-1986). Since then, they've only drafted 3 centers in the first round. 1986: Chris Washburn (3rd Overall Pick) 1997: Adonal Foyle (8th Overall Pick) 1999: Jeff Foster (21st Overall Pick) Foster never played a game for them, and the Washburn is one of the biggest busts in NBA Draft history. Foyle never gets minutes. The guy has been around for 8 years already? 8 years? WTF. Dampier was pretty good, but nothing special. They got him from the Pacers in 1996. It looks like they're cursed. They're like the Bears when it comes to quarterbacks. God damn, the 2001 Draft: 1 - Jason Richardson, Michigan St. 1 - Troy Murphy, Notre Dame 2 - Gilbert Arenas, Arizona And they had both Antawn Jamison and Larry Hughes on the same team as these guys. When healthy (Murphy especially), could you say that all 5 of those guys are all-star caliber players? It wouldn't be a ridiculous claim. Before Murphy got injured, he was averaging 16 points and 11 boards per contest. His defense is nothing to brag about, however. I remember that team well, Eric Musselman was the coach, and they were a team on the rise. The problems were though, Erick Dampier played like he did when he first got his big deal, and they were just terrible on defense. If Arenas wasn't a 2nd round pick, he'd still be a Warrior this day, and they wouldn't have Fisher or Clayton, and wouldn't be as screwed up. Him signing with the Wizards really set them back. But Davis if he can stay injury free and get back to his best form will be a HUGE boost for this team. I remember for the first 2 months of last season, he exploded early and was easily the best fantasy player in the league.
