  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Why does ben sheets name always come up when we talk about pitchers? Probably because he's the most likely to get dealt of the big name pitchers if the Brewers can't agree on terms for a long - term deal.
  2. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) Who will we trade from the prospects dept to get someone at mid season? I feel our minor league system is barren after the trades the last few years Unless we give up someone big like BMac, who do we have to give that someone else might want for a vet? One of Anderson or Sweeney if it's to acquire a real impact player like Ben Sheets. Plus there's lots of good pitching in the lower levels with Tracey at AA with B-Mac, Giovani Gonzalez and Tyler Lumsden.
  3. Someone throw out that RISP stat for Perez that makes him SO IMPORTANT again. EDIT: Ahhh here we go; BA/RISP .397
  4. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Think you could give me a link to it Qwert? Here ya go; http://basketballboards.net/forum/index.php?=
  5. Nice to see it finally out there Dan and Jason.
  6. Boldin, Fitzgerald and Bryant Johnson could be the best threesome of Wide Receiver's in the NFL this time next year. No way Green does this.
  7. Wahle signed with Carolina to be their RT, got a $13 or $15 million signing bonus as well. Gold's headed back to Denver while Jurevicius wants to go back to Tampa as his 1st option, or return to the New York Giants. If I was Angelo, I'd be going after Kareem McKenzie if they could somehow fit him into the cap.
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Guys, Frank was in camp yesterday. He's feeling so good he decided to play CF. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=250302104 It's on ESPN, it's got to be true. Next he'll be taking Pods spot at the top of the order.

    Serious Note

Damn, thoughts and prayers with you Alex.
  10. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) I think if this somehow did end up happening (i don't think it will) you'd see 6 or so teams contracted immediately. No doubt at all that's gonna happen if this goes down. And it's pretty easy to figure out the teams that will be contracted as well just because they don't have the fan bases etc. to support the team long - term.
  11. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 01:14 AM) I realize judging off the 1st game isn't always a good idea but I would rather see Cotts go back to the minors and have Adkins take the final bullpen spot. I know that would leave Marte as the lone lefty but Viscaino is solid vs. Lefties also. Thats just me though... I think that's what most people want around here, but it looks like the Sox are going to carry Cotts anyway;
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) This tells me a lot. These guys making this offer think the NHL is a gold mine waiting to happen. The NHL has so mismanaged over the past 10 years or so, and the value is at a low point. Maybe, just maybe, we can get rid of Dollar Bill. Absolutely. It's a major risk, but there could be some major returns down the line.
  13. QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) Who's this Tony Alvarez guy mentioned in that article? Was previously an outfielder from the Pirates who was signed as a minor league free agent.
  14. The Vikings signed Pat Williams from Buffalo (3 years $13 mill), Joe Andruzzi has signed with Cleveland, Lamot Jordan is to sign a 5 year deal with the Raiders, and Seth Payne resigned with the Texans for 4 years $16 mill.
  15. QUOTE(awesomefan @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) whitesoxinteractive.com message board has a thread about the Korean pitcher Sang Ho Moon with some awesome big pictures of him throwing. He looks like Johnny Depp some are saying & I agree. Uhhhhh so do we...... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...ic=29962&st=270
  16. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Haven't seen a new first round mock in a while from anyone, so I'll throw one out there, though it is probably pretty mediocre 1. 49ers - Aaron Rodgers, QB, Cal 2. Dolphins - Cedric Benson, RB, Texas 3. Browns - Alex Smith, QB, Utah 4. Bears - Mike Williams, WR, USC 5. Buccaneers - Cadillac Williams, RB, Auburn 6. Titans - Alex Barron, OT, FSU 7. Vikings - Derrick Johnson, OLB, Texas 8. Cardinals - Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami(FL) 9. Redskins - Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan 10. Lions - Erasmus Jones, DE, Wisconsin 11. Cowboys - Travis Johnson, DT, FSU 12. Chargers - Marcus Spears, DE, LSU 13. Texans - Jammal Brown, OT, OU 14. Panthers - Ronnie Brown, RB, Auburn 15. Chiefs - Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn 16. Saints - Thomas Davis, S/OLB, Georgia 17. Bengals - Antaaj Hawthorne, Wisconsin, DT 18. Vikings - Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina 19. Rams - Pac Man Jones, CB, West Virginia 20. Cowboys - Shawne Merriman, DE/OLB, Maryland 21. Jaguars - Dan Cody, DE, OU 22. Ravens - Mark Clayton, WR, OU 23. Seahawks - Channing Crowder, ILB, Florida 24. Packers - David Pollack, DE, Georgia 25. Broncos - Shaun Cody, DT, USC 26. Jets - Heath Miller, TE, Virginia 27. Falcons - Brodney Pool, S, OU 28. Chargers - Khalif Barnes, OT, Washington 29. Colts - Justin Miller, CB, Clemson 30. Steelers - Adam Terry, OT, SU 31. Eagles - Mike Patterson, DT, USC 32. Patriots - David Baas, OG, Michigan Some are more far fetched then others, but that stuff is not as easy as it looks I truly do not see Ronnie Brown falling that far, not for a guy who may have the best all around tools at RB in the draft...however, with Zona apparently picking up Henry, I just didn't see where else Brown could go, and I think if Brown made it to Carolina at 14, they would take him simply as a value pick, because he is a steal at 14. There are other questionable ones, but for the most part, I think it is decent. Thoughts? Ok Wite I'm going to nitpick. 1 - Are the Browns really going to take Smith at #3? It will probably depend on the Kelly Holcomb negotiations for me, although we could have a carbon copy of Cincinatti from 2 seasons ago, where Jon Kitna started and Palmer sat on the bench. 2 - Mike Williams at #4. I know he seems to be the popular pick around here especially with Bears fans, but after his 40 times, I just can't see Angelo reaching for him, especially after they signed Muhammed to a big deal. 3 - I don't think the Titans will reach for Barron at #6. He's not even projected to be a top 15 pick on a lot of draft boards right now. Most likely, they'll take the best CB available at #6 whether it's Rolle or Jones. 4 - Derrick Johnson at #7. The Vikings already have a lot of money invested in their LB corps with Harris and Henderson, and they can bring back Claiborne as well. Most likely, they'll take Williams or Edwards at #7 as Daunte needs somebody he can throw the ball to, so Kelly Campbell and Nate Burlison can continue to keep having single coverage, although you do have them taking Williamson at #18. 5 - Rolle at #8. This is Denny Green we're talkin about here. Even though it looks like they are going to trade Starks, this is such a CB heavy draft, the smart move would be to take one in round 2 or 3, and take the best offensive player on the board right here. If one of the RB's slips down in Benson, Williams or Brown, it's most likely they'll take him. 6 - Johnson at #11. With the Cowboys signing Jason Ferguson, a big DT suddenly isn't the most important need right now for the Cowboys on defense, a pass rush is. I love the selection of Merriman at #20, although I don't know if he'll slip that far, the Cowboys may have to take him with their 1st pick. Best case scenario, we pick DJ at #11 and Merriman at #20. If one of the WR's slips, I wouldn't be suprised to see Jones and Parcells make that selection, especially if it happens to be Mike Williams.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) Packers OL Wahle signs with Carolina. Is he going to be their LT? They'd leave Jordan Gross at RT if that was the case.
  18. Signings are coming in thick and fast. Jacksonville got Reggie Hayward for a 5 year $25 million deal with a 10M bonus, the same amount Dallas spent on Anthony Henry. Great deal for the Jags. The Giants are about to sign Antonio Pierce on a 4 year deal with incentives that could reach $25 million. And Duane Starks is about to get traded to New England for a 3rd. And Marco Rivera could be signing with Dallas tonight, and Jonas Jennings with the Jets moving Jason Fabini to RT.

    Shopped???

It's a half pogo stick half bicycle.
  20. QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) That's what he said. I think he was speculating that Ricks would be a catcher this year with possible inside info. I think he was referring to Ricks as a better prospect as a hitter, his comment had nothing to do with catching ability. Also, you guys just stole the sleeper pick from him. I hereby rule Ricks a non-sleeper pick because everyone is taking him. Phil Rogers stole that from me and you know it.
  21. Jason's been wearing that stuff for years.
  22. That's an excellent deal for the Ravens. I wouldn't be suprised to see Mason outproduce Muhammed even though he got the smaller contract.
