LOL @ David Terrell. Actually I think if the Cowboys do decide to go into 2005 with Drew Henson, they could look at signing Terrell due to the Michigan background. I'm not sure if he's a FA or if he has 1 year left on his deal though.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) 7. George with the Houston Astros execs 8. George sleeping under his desk These two would also have to be some of my favorites especially the sleeping under the desk one. It's absolutely hilarious when Steinbrenner thinks there's a bomb in George's desk, but it's actually his alarm clock.

Damn, missing that 1 week pretty much killed my chances, same as last year. Oh well. St. Louis San Diego Indy Green Bay

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) Any of you pick up the dvd's or rent them? I am gonna rent them tomorrow. I downloaded Season 5 on Bit-Torrent, it comes with a lot of good episodes.

Episodes that come to mind for me; 1 - The one where George tries to get fired by the Yankees, so he can become head of the scouting team at the Mets. 2 - The Marine Biologist 3 - The Pie episode with Poppy 4 - The Festivus Episode 5 - The Puffy Shirt Episode 6 - The one where Kramer adopts a part of the highway 7 - The Opposite Episode where George does the opposite of everything

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 3, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) I would much rather have konerko and dye driving him in rather than crede/rowand/uribe. I think it is silly to waste our best obp player ( which by the way is one of the most important stats in baseball) in the fifth spot in the batting order. Maybe that is just me but i feel like others feel the same way. With Frank in the #3 hole, Konerko, Dye and co. will get plenty of RBI oppurtunities. That said, I'm not confident he'll have a good season stats wise, as history has shown he doesn't hit well coming back from a injury. If he hit .260 with 20 HR's, I would almost take that, considering he's likely to miss at least 1 month possibly 2 at the start of the year.

Cubs next outfield target possibly;

Dallas doesn't have a 3rd rounder in this year's draft, they traded it for Drew Henson. And I can't see them trading up for a QB, it's more likely Vinny will play for another year, or Parcells will try to sign a Dilfer or Kitna instead if Henson still isn't ready. If they do trade up, it'll be for Rolle the CB.
-
I wonder if Green will play first base for Arizona instead of the outfield. If the D-Backs do trade Vazquez to the O's for that package including Matos and/or Bigbie I think, that could be a distinct possibility. Suppose it would depend on where Chad Tracy plays as well I guess, unless he stays as third base.
-
I think it's more likely Pierzynski would bat at #7 and Dye at #6, but hey that's just me. Dye could hit .280, 30 HR, 100 RBI's if healthy for a full season.

Swap Rowand with Dye or Uribe most likely, unless Iguchi is signed.

QUOTE (lvjeremylv @ Jan 1, 2005 -> 04:53 AM) And LMFAO, did someone at last year's SoxFest really say to KW ""Now that 2004 is over, Can we talk about 2005?"? If so, that's one of the funniest things ever. After being cut off by Steff at SoxFest in 04, KW thought he just had to get some payback and cut-off that guy before he could finish his statement right there.

Is that a non - biased point of view there Dan?

A Navarro and Vazquez for Green and prospects or players pethaps? If he limits himself to only NL teams [and ones on the east coast] where does LA fit in? esp if he wants to be near his family. Even though Vazquez has no say in where he goes, any team trading for him has to be prepareed he'll ask to become a FA. Though realistically, will he give up the remaining $35 mill he's owed? Prob. not. Though with an allstar type yr, he could get a lot of cash as a FA I wonder what the deal is w/ only wanting to pitch in the NL. I know that's what he's known, and it's easier. But if true, sounds pretty weak to me. I only thought of the dodgers not based on the fact that he doesn't want to go to the West Coast, but since the D-Backs and Dodgers are likely to trade anyways, the Dodgers are in the NL, and L.A needs some good starters in their rotation, but looking at it more closely, it probably isn't a good fit. If Vazquez is to be traded to an NL team only, teams that come to mind as possible trading partners would be the Marlins, Mets and Phillies.

podsednik: Leadoff man, #9 hitter or benchwarmer ?
DBAHO replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There are a lot of stats that will get you worried about Podsednik, but when I get see this one, I still see hope, that he can get back to his 2003 form. AWAY - .274, .330 OBP. -
Thought this was interesting to see; So if the Sox had a young pitcher with loads of potential who was major league ready (can anyone say Kris Honel or even Corwin Malone if things worked out), Tim Hudson or Mark Mulder could very well be on the Southside as we speak. Over time, we'll see if B-Mac ends up being a better pitcher than Haren or Meyer though, and whether or not Mr. Moneyball did indeed make the right deal.

How can Jennie Finch NOT be #1. I'm ashamed of you Chicago people.

Sigh.... warning sign a plenty for the Magic. Defensively, they've just gone downhill without Kelvin Cato taking up space in the low post.

QUOTE (beck72 @ Jan 1, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) <!--QuoteBegin-DBAH0+Jan 1, 2005 -> 03:14 AM--> QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jan 1, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) <!--QuoteEBegin--> Realistically payroll could be up to $80 million if both of those moves happen. Pierzynski and Iguchi together could cost from $6 to $8 million, while Rowand is going to get a raise in arbitration as well. It all depends on what JR wants to do, and whether or not he's willing to go with this, if he thinks these extra moves could help put us over the top in the division. If the sox got both AJ and Iguchi, Everett could be dealt for a prospect or two. Then his $4 mill salary would be off the books. With adding offense at both of those spots, Carl's bat is less needed. And they should be able to get talent comparable to Rauch and Majewski. Carl's bat and power could be coveted by a small market club The problem is with dealing Everett at the moment is that there are still FA outfielders available for around the same price range, such as Danny Bautista and Jeromy Burnitz and there are probably better trade options out there for a team looking for an outfielder like Eric Byrnes, Larry Bigbie or Luis Matos. I just don't know if there's going to be that much of a market for Everett and if the return of probably prospects for KW to accept that type of deal, especially after he's given up 5 prospects for him before-hand.

The teams that come to mind for me that haven't been mentioned so far are Oakland and Philly. Even though the A's lost Mulder and Hudson, as good as they are, they'll still have one of the most complete rotations in the majors from 1 to 5. They've got Zito to be their ace, Rich Harden as their #2, Joe Blanton will be in there and 2 spots left for either Jayson Duscherer (who's always been a guy who's impressed me), Danny Haren, Drew Meyer or Juan Cruz if they want him to start. Even though they'll be better in 1 to 2 years, I think a lot of people are underrating the A's now. Philly also has a complete rotation now, and that could be upgraded even further if they acquire Vazquez. Subtracting Millwood from Citizens will be a plus, and I'd expect Brett Myers to have a comeback year. Vincent Padilla is still young, and can easily win 15 games, Jon Lieber will be an excellent addition, and Randy Wolf is still there unless they decide to trade him. Cory Lidle is also there and he's usually an excellent starter in the 1st half of seasons. Another team possibly to look at is Seattle, especially if they sign Odalis Perez, to add to Jamie Moyer, Joel Pineiro and co. San Diego is another even though they lost Wells, but added Woody Williams, and Jake Peavy is a #1 on that team.
