  1. Keep Chandler and trade Curry, no doubt at all. If the Bulls can get Sweetney and Mohammed for Curry or Samuel Dalembert and some picks or players, they should try to do that.
  2. Scho also gives us the option of another starter if we are forced to be put in that situation again. He did have some success in the role from April to May before his arm fell apart. But another lefty out of the pen couldn't hurt either. It all depends on the $$$$ though.
  3. Who else would you say is on the FA market who has the ability to close then? At least Hermanson has done the job before and gives us another option.
  4. Yeah he only played 34 games for Kanny in 2004 hitting .218 with 2 HR's and 7 RBI's, 12 BB's and 28 K's.
  5. Because Jim Bowden is crazy and will probably offer him an insane deal.
  6. 1 - If you were Randy Johnson, would you want to come here? 2 - The almighty "Fartolo" Colon with the ERA above 5 in the 1st year of his multiyear deal. 3 - Pay - Rod. I'm not even going to go there. 4 - Would you offer arbitration to a guy, who could play all of 30 games to us? It tells you something when teams like Baltimore who were interested in Maggs, won't go near a Bora$$ client.
  7. Yeah I was, but at least it's good news he'll be in the States next season. The Sox really need to have a long hard look at him.

    Tim Hudson

Forget about all the FA SP's we're missing out on, Tim Hudson would be the BIGGEST prize for the team who is able to trade for him. Talent wise, he's the best out of all the big 3, but he'll cost the most out of the big 3 too. His numbers over the past few seasons have really been quite amazing, and if he can stay injury free he's a sure #1 starter for us. I really don't want to deal Carlos instead of Pauloe, but for a guy just like Hudson, you have to make sacrifices. And yes, amazingly the A's could have interest in Willie too, but then the White Sox would have to go out and sign a FA 2B like Polanco or Cairo ASAP.
  9. I seriously thought a few weeks ago, the Sox were really going to make a run at Hermanson considering they were never really going to go after Percival or Benitez, and that they wanted a guy who could close possibly if they needed him to, Hermanson was about the only other person left on the FA market who could do that. I think I recall he could have gotten as much as $7 million over 2 years from Cleveland, so money wise the Sox have done quite well, especially considering the fact most GM's have been rubber stamping big fat contracts to guys who hardly deserve it. Hermanson's numbers may not be all the great, and most people actually think SBC Park is a pitchers' park but I think this season it had some favourable splits for hitters, I may be wrong on that though. Now if Shingo can convince Daisuke Matsuzaka to sign wih us, I'll be a very happy man, but I doubt that'll be happening anytime soon.
  10. No the Braves just couldn't afford the risk of him accepting arbitration, as they don't hav much payroll flexibility unless they can move Andruw Jones. I've heard Bora$$ wants Drew to get $50 million over 5 years, maybe more.
  11. First of all welcome to SoxTalk, I'll edit the topic title so that people don't get the impression that a trade has actually happened. Secondly, I can't see the Pirates dealing Perez under any circumstances. And KW would be crazy to trade his 2 uber outfield prospects when he already traded Reed in the Garcia to Seattle deal. I've have mentioned Craig Wilson as a guy to possibly target if we do deal Konerko however though.
  12. Also found this on Richard Hidalgo;

    Tim Hudson

Unloading PK on the A's would be ideal, but they alradu have Durazo and Hatteberg which causes some complications there. And of course, KW wouldn't trade for Hudson unless he could get him locked up into a long - term like Freddy Garcia did.

    Tim Hudson

Also I thought Oakland could have an interest in Brian Anderson, as he's only possibly a year away, and that the A's already have Swisher, Kotsay and Byrnes in the outfield.
  15. The fact also that Philly offered Placido Polanco arbitration could make the Boston Red Sox shy away from him. Then that could possily leave a market of the Sox and St. Louis for Polanco and Cairo, although no doubt other teams like Cincinatti could look at one of em for sure.
  16. I suppose it would all depend on what you could do with the extra $3 million we'd save by signing Dye instead of Finley in that scenario. We could probably get an infielder or another guy for the bullpen.
  17. Now I found this on Rotoworld; I know everyone would take Hudson over Javier Vazquez, my question is, would you give up Carlos Lee or Aaron Rowand and Jon Garland for Tim Hudson if that is what Billy Beane truly wanted. Bedard could also be a young arm to look at possibly, but I doubt KW would go into that.
  18. I think he'll still head back to the Yanks as some starter insurance, and he will probably work out of the pen.
  19. Frankly if you could get Finley for a couple of years instead of locking down into a 3 year deal with Dye, the Sox should certainly look into that. It all depends on how much money they are offering Dye though which we do not currently know.
  20. And that was the Jaret Wright who was waived by the San Diego Padres 16 months ago. Starting pitching has truly become THAT unpredictable these days from year to year.
