  1. Sorry Jason, but I've never heard nayone defend Curry as much as you do. As we speak, Mohammed has a double - double against the Wizards and Mike Sweetney is doing pretty good to.
  2. That's the exact reason why they dealt for Garcia, they knew they could get him locked up. Hudson as a FA could get a big - time contract though, so every GM needs to be aware of that, and get him locked up.

    Frivilous lawsuits...

Suppose one of the benefits of living down here is the "No WalMart's!!!"
  4. That's just insane. Well the new ownership group includes a former agent I guess.
  5. The more I hear Ozzie, the more I think Willie Harris won't be on this ballclub.
  6. Now Tim Hudson and his agents want $12 to $14 million over 4 years, if we are to lock him up to a long - term deal. With all the SP FA's getting big fat contracts when they hardly deserve it, Hudson's demands don't seem to far out of place. Hudson would be the perfect pitcher on the Southside, his numbers are insane, and he doesn't give up many homers at all, which would be a HUGE boost at the Cell. But would JR give Hudson a big contract like that? I actually think he could, depending on how sucessful the Sox were in a season, attendance wise etc., and don't forget we almost did lock up Colon to a big 4 year deal as well. However, I think Zito maybe a little more realistic, and Zito and Byrnes for Lee could almost be possible, maybe if the Sox threw in Adkins or Cotts possibly.
  7. If that happens, one of Cotts or Adkins, most likely Adkins is probably going to be moved. And we'd have 4 setup / closer guys, so it'll be hard to keep em all happy.
  8. Steve Phillips, now there's a name not to trust.
  9. Cool story, and welcome to SoxTalk. We hope you like it here and continue posting.
  10. That doesn't suprise me. It looks like now since they'll miss out on Hudson, who's most likely headed to the Braves, that they'll go after Pavano, since they are also not negotiating with Bora$$ clients as well I believe, which puts them out of the race for Maggs.
  11. Vazquez is a flyball pitcher who wouldn't have good numbers at the Cell at all, think he had the third highest flyball/groundball ratio in the major leagues last season. For the money he's making, Garland and Vazquez could put up very similar stats if they both pitched for the Sox in 2005.
  12. Nationals still chasing Perez;
  13. With Geoff Jenkins making about $8 million in 2005, I can't see the Brewers adding another big contract outfielder to their team. Now Everett who only makes $4 mill, they could have some interest in, for the right price.
  14. I assume he means Reggie. That was the greatest comeback ever.
  15. RJ said he'll only waive his no trade clause to pitch for the Yankees. End of story. And the Rangers probably won't be trading Soriano now either.
  16. KW will be crucified and rightyfully so if he trades Anderson, Garland and Konerko for Javier Vazquez, whether or not the Yanks pay his whole salary, (which Selig probably won't allow) or not. Vazquez will not have good numbers at the Cell, he's a flyball pitcher, had the 3rd most flyballs in the league last season I recall. He may have good numbers on the road, if he gets his mechanics and arm back on track (Buerhle wise), but we could still be looking at a 5 ERA at the Cell, which is what Garland would put up anyways. So you're almost trading your best prospect and a 40 HR hitter for nothing.
  17. Boom or bust I guess. It depends if he's motivated to work his ass of so he can become an everyday player for us.
  18. I could see that coming. Dropped off the Hilary Duff bandwagon already?
  19. Because he was a guy to look at to fill our infield hole, the only other real alternative on the market is Miguel Cairo, unless you want to settle for Royce Clayton or Craig Counsell.
  20. D-Backs really making some bone headed moves this off-season but I think you can blame the "new" owners for that.
  21. Bad news. The Padres signed Eric Young to a 1 year $1 mill contract, with a $850,000 option for 2006.
  22. Burnett certainly won't be dealt, with the Fishies losing Pavano. They want to keep that strong rotation. Thomson is the same story, pretty much for the fact, as they're losing Wright and couldn't take on a salary like Konerko's.
  23. We don't hav any more payroll room to sign a FA SP. It looks more and more everyday that there's a Konerko and Vazquez swap in a RJ deal coming up soon, especially with the Rangers out of the running, as they won't be trading Soriano.
