QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 04:12 PM) Ha no Trayce Why not?!
-
Kris Bryant has set the Cubs rookie record of 87 RBI in a season. That tops Billy Williams and Giovanni Soto, who both had 86.
-
He ought to get there. Really impressive stuff. More impressive for Pujols, who did so as an actual rookie. Let's be honest, Abreu is in his prime.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 01:54 AM) In the year MLB broke the projections I have to love your incessantly gleeful "told you so!" message. Seriously, the Mets, Yankees and Cubs are laughing at not only the Sox but also your myopic view of the data that confirms your hypothesis about not only Avi but this Sox team.. We can't really predict MLB teams. What we can say is that there are good teams and bad ones. The Sox have been awful for 5+ years. Fire the f***ing men responsible. Be careful. Someone might question your fandom. Three consecutive years of mediocrity is unacceptable. 8 of 9 years is pathetic.

Ventura "absolutely" wants to manage White Sox next season
Bananarchy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Coach @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 05:54 AM) Here is what I am not understanding. How can ownership justify Ventura with another year? He brings absolutely nothing to the team. I doubt he even has a pulse. He took a team who was suppose to compete for the division and made them the laughing stock of the league. Now, he can't make them hit which was one of the main reasons in the first half, but he refuses to address the stuff he can control. Like bad base running and stuff. How can he keep putting LaRoche in the line up? He is an automatic out, especially in the 4th spot. That's bad managing. The truth of the matter is, ownership can justify whatever they want as long as they are the owner of the team. JR doesn't have to justify anything. -

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 10, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) How many seasons does he have to manage before he has experience? There is a valid argument that suggests that bad coaching experience isn't real coaching experience. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) This is why I don't like former players as managers. You forget they were great playing the game. For sure. I understand wanting to sign a former player as manager, but you can't follow that up with blind loyalty at the expense of your team. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) Delusion? I was simply stating that I am compelled to watching White Sox baseball. We could go 0-162 and I would watch 90% of the games. The Cubs could go 162-0 the same season and I would watch no more than 10 of their games, about half of those being against us. I don't care what our record is, White Sox baseball will always be more compelling to me than any other team's games. I rest my case.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Ironically I think you can, especially now he's one year closer to free agency. Boston absolutely could make it work. Betts, Swihart, ERod, Devers and Margot and you have a deal. I think we're about one season away from really being in a position to move Sale for even money. His contract is just SO GOOD. At the same time, if you think Sale will be injured at any point during the next season, maybe it is time to unload him, but I'm thinking keeping him is worth the gamble.
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) So people who disagree with your extreme pessimism are just refusing to accept "reality"? Pessimism doesn't always equal "realism", nor does it mean your opinion is somehow more valid or correct, yet in your posts it seems like you think this is the case. 9 seasons. 1 playoff appearance. I'm afforded some pessimism. We have Chris Sale, (corrected) Carlos Rodon, and a couple of commodities that can make us very good in the future should we move them. We have a huge hole in scouting judging by the horrible position player drafting over the last 15 seasons. That's not pessimism. Pessimism is the defeatist nonsense Cubs fans have had for the better part of 10 seasons which has finally been shed by their fanbase. There is not enough to love on this White Sox team. The results speak for themselves.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) Fair enough, but Abreu, Eaton, Q and Robertson are good pieces as well. But they have real value, as well. Abreu and Q are worth real prospects. You can get something of value for them. Sale is the wild card. You can't get a return worth Chris Sale.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) One of most garbage posts I've seen on this website in quite some time. Your inability to accept reality does you no credit. Any other organization would fire all these parts. I believe the White Sox are a better organization than one playoff appearance in 9 years. It's a shame you accept that mediocrity. Clearly you wouldn't know good baseball if it hit you over the head.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) For someone that loves the Cubs prospects as much as you do, why discredit Rodon? I'm amazed at the lack of excitement about him. He can stay, too, obviously. I generally don't care for the position players. My thing is Sale is the only player you cannot POSSIBLY get even money for.
-
Fire Kenny Williams Fire Rick Hahn Fire Robin Ventura Fire most scouting Begin the recovery process with a real general manager and baseball operations team. Our current players just don't matter. None of them outside of Sale could possibly part of the "good White Sox"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:33 PM) I don't think there's any way he coaches on a 1 year deal. Even if it's just a 1 year extension, they'll add a year. Boss man is unhappy. I hope Ventura is out after this season. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:28 PM) Their extension was after the 2013 season, it runs through 2016. Robin signed that extension when he had 1 year left on the deal and per the press reports I've seen he's got 1 year left on the deal again. Hence, it's contract extension time again. There is no way he gets another extension. Hahn would be ruined by that. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 08:03 AM) As a White Sox fan, it's not more compelling than our season. This is a special type of delusion. Our season is dead and the future isn't there. Not at all compelling.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) Not a cheapie for Bryant Ho.Ly. Crap. What makes me giggle in this thread is how we are insisting on comparing Sale and Arrieta when they really have nothing to do with each other and can both win the Cy Young. Not saying they will.

Joe Jackson reinstatement request denied

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 07:29 AM) That's fine, but almost all the evidence points to him most likely not being in on it. His stats in Sox losses vs Sox wins screams "the fix is in". -

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) Holmes is a fan. One of the few the sox have on the wcubs, I mean wscr I think it's only Holmes and Bernstein as far as White Sox fans on WSCR. Is Mully a Sox fan? I respect Holmes and enjoy some of his speculation. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) First order of business is finding a manager. Ventura has done nothing to deserve another year I'll drink to that!
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Luckily there is no way to notice that people at baseball games aren't paying attention... This all assumes that paying attention makes any difference as to whether or not someone who isn't a professional in the stands can catch a baseball coming off a bat.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 06:05 PM) Or having a horrendous trade deadline They weren't going to interrupt a rebuild. The only piece they were trying to move was Castro, and no one wants him. It's crazy there's a chance he's not on the postseason lineup.
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 02:33 PM) Not at all coincidental. When we go to Sox game, I actually watch 90+% of the pitches. My wife probably watches half, if that. The rest of the time she is watching: Her phone Ads on the scoreboard Her phone Woman in the next section over with a bad haircut Her phone The left fielder's ass Her phone The Diet Pepsi vendor This is anecdotal evidence and in no way demonstrates a valid trend. My neighbor owns a Ferrari. That must mean everyone's neighbor owns a Ferrari.

Good stuff. Glad the MLB is being a bit more proactive on this.
