  1. Check out Edwin's FIP, and then come back and amend your statement.
  2. Conor isn't very good, but he's better than Kep, Beckham, and the guy they traded to acquire him.
  3. Never. The manager of the Sox must always be statistically ignorant, so help me God.
  4. Pretty weak denial. "i'm here as long as I'm here." His action of turning down free money speaks more loudly than his words.
  5. I wouldn't call Keppimger an OBP guy. Dunn and Swisher were failures that no one could anticipate. Swisher succeeded before and after his time here, so who knows what to make of that?
  6. The Sox have had a problem of organizational philosophy. For years, the organization did not value building the minor league system, and emphasized raw power over OBP. These issues lay squarely at the feet of JR and KW.
  7. Sox will be better for it with the developmental time that Santiago will get. However, they're dumb as rocks for not dumping Floyd's salary when they had the chance.
  8. Wow, I guess you got me there. That completely changes my perception of him as a ballplayer.
  9. 1) Ozzie was a very poor manager his last two years here. If there is any doubt, look at the record. 2) Lexi and Dayan struggle to get their OBPs above .300, so I could see why some advocate trading them. 3) KW presided over the worst minor league system in the game for many years, and we are still being affected by the fallout. If you care about your team's minor league system, the argument against KW as a good GM is a sensible one. The above points are facts, not racism.
  10. I didn't suggest that Gillaspie play SS. Read my earlier post in this thread. I don't know what Gillaspie would hit with extended playing time, but I'm confident his OBP would crack .290
  11. I can read fangraphs too. Thanks though.
  12. Still miles better than 2012 Lexi. Game, set, whatever.
  13. You're right, MLE's mean nothing. Sparse ABs earned in September tell us everything.
  14. I don't care about his WAR. Put Sanchez at SS, and you would get a similar defense-enhanced WAR. Big deal.
  15. I'm not a troll. I really don't like him as a player. He's an offensive black hole.
  16. I mean really, how much worse could he be as a hitter than Alexi? Lexi is now one of the worst offensive players in baseball.
  17. +1 You're hitting all the right notes, Marty.
  18. Absolutely, he has turned into a terrible offensive player, and he is entering the decline phase of his career. He is easily the worst contract on the team.
  19. Gillispie >>>>>>> than Alexi offensively.
  20. Here's another possibility: If Keppinger can handle SS defensively (he has in the past), trade Alexi, keep Carlos at AAA, move Keppinger to SS, and start Gillispie. We wouldn't lose a thing. The offense would actually be much improved. Under the above scenario, you could dump Alexi's contract for nothing.
  21. Much better stuff = better upside. In theory.
  22. If picking up Floyd's option prevents the Sox from filling their offensive black holes, I'd let him walk. Santiago can replicate his numbers for much less.
  23. So, WHY doesn't he enjoy what he does? Pretty clearly it's Hawk, no? Anyway, time to go get Wimpy.
