  1. This post is odd. You said it’s easier to digest when you have no expectations but now you’re saying you’re disappointed. The Bears are probably going to win 8 or 9 games with a ton of talented players under 27 years old. I’m not sure what the Mack trade did to you but this offense is going to be a work in progress all year. Deal with it.
  2. Look we can Trubisky this or Fangio that, but the bottom line is if you give up 2 special teams TD’s, you’re not going to win. Combine that with not picking up Edelman’s punt and you have a trio of turds. They lost to NE by 7, and I figured that would be the case, if not 11-14. Beat NY and Buffalo & come home 5-3 for a division game.
  3. He turned the ball over twice last week and probably could have been 4
  4. Bears catch a break; Gronkowski highly unlikely to play per Schefter.
  5. Caulfield, good point on LTC. That can seriously fuck your retirement. I know one company (Northwestern Mutual) that still sells that coverage, and while expensive, it’s going to be far less of an expense in hindsight than an actual LTC event would. Thanks for telling your story of your family, too. My dad passed last year at 67 of a heart attack.
  6. I used to be a financial advisor, but I could be wrong when I say that this is incorrect. I believe there are penalties for withdrawing but that's not the case if you wait until 59.5 years old and then you can change the beneficiary to yourself in which you can then use it like any other retirement vehicle. You can also change the beneficiary to a grandchild or niece/nephew, I believe. But what limitations are there? Sure, the growth isn't fantastic but with more growth comes more risk and you don't want to mess around with your children's education. Take the 2-3% and be happy with it. It also depends on how important providing education is compared to retirement. If you want to work until you're 67-70 and education planning is a 10/10, then 401k contributions shouldn't matter.
  7. Rumor is Mack has a minor ankle sprain and will play Sunday for sure. As for Robinson, I'm not sure when this groin injury happened but his status seems more up in the air.
  8. I've been to 710 BC. It's awesome. However, I disagree on the SD fan base thing. It's a pretty mediocre fan base. That stadium was consistently filled with 50% or more of the opposition's fans. If they were playing another team with a bad fan base- Panthers, Jags, etc- then there were multiple empty seats.
  9. Good plan. A 529 is similar. There are tax advantages to the payer now as well. In Illinois, annual contributions are tax deductions (if you claim $100,000 and contribute $5,000 to a 529, you now only have to claim $95,000). In Indiana, the payer receives 20% back up to $5,500 contributed on their taxes (if you contribute $5,000, you receive $1,000 back). The rules are becoming more lenient as well in that in the past, it could only be used for school but now they're expanding to dorms, books, etc. Either way, it's best to start when the child is either not born or very young, as you said.
  10. The cost of college education is rising 7-8% each year. Contributing to a 529 if you have children becomes important. Inflation is at about a 2.5% increase annually. The only solution here is to stop putting your money in savings accounts that get you 0.01-0.08% each year. Taxes are likely to remain the same or go up, not decrease (which make roth products even more important). Unless you want a shitty retirement, (like another poster pointed out) you're going to need about 2-3 million in investment accounts when you retire.
  11. If it was, then Bruce needs to learn to hang up on the caller and proceed by shutting the fuck up until he can confirm it, not continue the conversation.
  12. Who the f*** does Bruce Levine think he is? I get hearing the rumor and digging deep to find truth to it, but until you actually KNOW FOR A FACT that Moncada does have "ADD," I probably wouldn't run with it on my stupid ass radio show. What a fucking jackass.
  13. If Beathard doesn’t overthrow Kittle on that 3rd and ~4, it’s a different game. I also have no clue why an offensive HC would stop running the ball when they were averaging like 6.5 ypc. Mostert looked great. Regardless, yep, Rodgers is unreal. It’s to the point where even if you give him the ball back with 1 second left, you probably left him too much time.
  14. I think he's referring to the play Trubisky threw the INT. They initially had it 1st and goal at the 1 & threw which caused the OPI.
  15. His first 5 games of year two is better than Wentz's and Goff's first 5 games of year two. Wentz: 62.7% completion percentage, 2 TD's/game, 0.8 fumbles/game Goff: 62.8% completion percentage, 1.4 TD's/game, 0.6 fumbles/game Trubisky: 70.2% completion percentage, 2.4 TD's/game, 0.6 fumbles/game He's currently 4th in the NFL in completion percentage. IIRC, his TD/INT ratio is equal to Goff's this year. I keep hearing that his floor is average, but I keep seeing something different.
  16. Not being a dick, just genuinely want to know why you believe that. IMO, it's going to require 5-6 sacks. Teams usually get 12 possessions about. End 5-6 with a sack, Pats humanly mess up 1-2, and then force 2 FG's and allow 2 TD's. That gives them 20 points. Trubisky just needs 21.. (and perhaps a defensive or ST score)
  17. I was there. It was tragic. They lost the week prior at home to KC 10-3. Roy Williams dropped a TD, and the Chiefs' only TD was a hail mary into the endzone as time expired in the first half. Forte got hurt in that game too. I read today that Goldman barely played. That would explain the fact that Gore & Drake had their way in the run game. It was definitely odd. I mean, he finished the game IIRC and he handed the ball off a ton of times, but that's because they were winning by 2 possessions. I just remember it being so out of the blue. They were crushing teams. I think they had won 5 in a row and all were by double digits, and even notorious Cutler haters like Steve Young were so complimentary of that team.
  18. And obviously anything can happen, but with the way the D played after Cutler's broken thumb in 2011, they were probably going to make another run at it. I'll never forget how sad I was when I read Vaughn McClure's tweet that night.
  19. If Cutler doesn't strain his MCL in 2010 and doesn't break his thumb in 2011 (thanks, Knox) they probably win a Super Bowl.
  20. What if they beat NE 31-20? Will they still suck?
  21. You’re back to this nonsense again? First the QB sucks until it can proved otherwise and now the team sucks?
  22. Boston invested a lot of prospects in Sale and a lot of money in Price, two guys who seem to be much worse in September and October, to be their top 2 horses in the playoffs and that seems to not be working out well.
  23. I just can’t believe we’re discussing Nagy. The offense did have 3 TO’s but the defense got their ass kicked by Brock fucking Osweiler. My concern is that no one runs the quick throw offense better than the Patriots, and I’d take their coach, OC, QB, two top receivers, and TE over Miami’s. My fear isn’t the Bears offense next week (NE is 13th vs the pass and 21st vs the run) but it’s that the Bears lack of pass rush is likely going to rear its ugly head again
