All players are that way. Kopech and Moncada certainly have the tools to be great, but all of those guys have a chance to at least be good, if not great. They are absolutely key cogs, but their failures would be magnified x2 if the rest of the farm bombs.

But when it's a squash, Lesnar style, don't you say the same about those matches? It's either what you wrote in the bolded statement or a squash. I've never really seen an in between, unless you believe "in between" is a horses*** match and in that case, no thanks.

Let’s say Kopech ends up as a good, not great, closer. Let’s say Moncada is out of the league in 5 years. And now let’s say Dunning = Hendricks, Lopez = Severino, Hansen = Wacha, Jimenez = Dye and Robert = McCutchen. That right there is why “if Kopech and Moncada stink, they’re f***ed” is stale already.

When the Coyotes took on Pronger's deal, they also asked for (IIRC) Niklas Grossman. When Detroit traded Datsyuk's contract, they also had to deal a first round pick with it. So yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the Hawks had to trade a player or high pick with the contract in order to make it happen.

I think it's probably well known around here that so far, I've not been overly thrilled with Moncada. However, for those already thinking about trading him and coming up with fake ideas on how to do so, that's sickening. We can criticize him day to day, but we're already at the point of trading him? Yikes. If he's still struggling in September 2019, we have an issue, but spoiler: that's 14.5 months away. Take it easy.
