  1. Have fun reflecting on this thread. It's funny looking back on the high expectations we set. Not me, though. I knew Guillen would misuse McCarthy. Several people were surprisingly spot on. Among them -- tony82087, Southsider2k5, SNB.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) This isn't meant for you, but people have to stop comparing McCarthy to guys like Santana, Verlander, etc. Comparisons are unjust in the department, obviously. For me, it's to a point where you look at this future rotation against division rivals and wonder how we're going to compete. Tigers throw out -- Miller, Bonderman, Verlander in 08' Twins throw out -- Garza, Santana, Liriano in 08' How do we match this? We may potentially face these pitchers more than 15 times a season. It will come to a point where blue chip SP prospects better emerge, or quality starters better be acquired via trade/FA signing, if we want ANY chance of competing in the next several seasons. Now, any of you can point out Liriano's injury problems, but I'd rather assume he'll be available and do our best to compensate for his value.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) 4.50 if he's in the rotation For 8 million less than Garcia? I'll take that anyday.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:15 PM) Let the Fields lovefest begin. So does Bmac still have his name etched in stone for the 2007 rotation? That's because no one has seen him strikeout yet. The worst thing possible for this organization would be not to find him another AB this season. He'll be immortalized. And yes -- McCarthy is in the rotation next season. Can't you see he abandons his changeup out of the bullpen? It's the pitch which defined his turnaround in September last year.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) We better upgrade our offense at SS then. That wouldn't be difficult when you consider Uribe's offensive production.
  6. QUOTE(Hollywood_AU @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) Why not? Might as well let him start his own game and see what happens. It's not like it would hurt anything. Uh, what about hurting his arm/shoulder? What purpose does it serve? Throw Haegar out if you're looking to rest starters. Or Tracey sometime next week.
  7. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) Since the big league club decided to take the 2nd half off and quit, might as well literally give them the last two weeks of the season off and send a message. Sweeney, Anderson, Owens, Fields, Gload, etc should start. Doesn't matter anyways, might as well give them more big league experience. Guillen doesn't send veterans messages. That might ruin clubhouse chemistry -- or cause panic!
  8. QUOTE(Hollywood_AU @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) I'm with you...and give McCarthy a start or two. No. Although it'd be appropriate of Guillen to put McCarthy into the rotation the final week when his presence around the ASB could have made an actual difference.
  9. Entering next season, the White Sox should consider platooning Fields/Mack in LF if there's no fulltime substitutes to be found. Sweeney could serve as a possible relief option to Anderson/Dye. It'd be a disservice, IMO, to hold Fields down in AAA. If we're not wiling to give him a spot on this team, package him in a trade.
  10. COUNTRY STRONG! That's a powerful man right there. And wouldn't you know, a minor league player immediately contributed to our team before I could even complain.

    OUT. It's about the time now where suggesting 'you're in' doesn't make you a superfan, but rather, certifiably baseball retarded.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) Well, it was nice saying 'World Champion White Sox' for a little while. Can't we still officially say it until the next champion is crowned?
  13. The stands look like a weekday game against Kansas City Royals about every year prior to this one.
  14. The f*** is this? Managing in a 6 run game? Why? Hey Guillen, you should have managed before McCarthy gave up a three run HR.
  15. HAHAHAHA. Just be thankful Mackowiak didn't pull that stunt in a critical moment.
  16. THAT'S THE FINAL NAIL, FOLKS. I suppose three runs was too much for this team to overcome. Guillen sure didn't appear willing to remove McCarthy there.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Over/under 3 posts regarding Thome? Maybe. Whatever riles people up.
  18. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) It's hard to watch them play this bad. But they will be back in '07, I believe it. Unless Williams realistically intends to upgrade two spots in the rotation (one is practically guaranteed with Garcia and McCarthy), this team won't do much. This VAUNTED starting pitching staff needs to be upgraded. Hey, Thome provides us with a MEANINGLESS HR. Mr. September sure picked his spot. No men on base, no pressure -- sure stepped it up.
  19. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) I can't wait to read the Kool-Aid drinkers on another Sox board write how this loss is no reason to panic because we didn't need a sweep we only need to win the series. HA, if there's one benefit to these losses it's reading people on that website trying to confince themselves this team has a chance. It's honestly pathetic to read several of their comments. Watch for me -- I'll be planting seeds of negativity in the post game thread, attempting to cause trouble.
  20. This is the end........... Beautiful friend......... This is the end........... My only friend, the end..
  21. Nice job, Buehrle. Go rub your beard in the dugout and look like an idiot for another several innings.
  22. Nice job defending your position, Buehrle. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM AROUND NEXT SEASON!
  23. How will they ruin this opportunity to score? I'm guessing AJ fouls out to Irod on the first pitch.
  24. Mr. September....... What can you say about him?
  25. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) And I was looking forward to my tickets on Wednesday for the longest frickin time. Give them to any one of the homeless people patrolling around the park. Maybe they'll take them. Probably won't, though.
