There's a game today
LOL at fan yelling "HE GONE" while Konerko grounded into an inning-ending DP. When did Pierzynski become a woman at the plate? I swear, he seems to drop or misplay more throws to homeplate than any opposing catcher I've witnessed this season.

There's a game today
Why are they screwing around with Crede and Dye? Seasons over. Let them rest. And I hope today goes 15 innings so Podsednik gets another few AB's. Get that incentive clause based on plate appearnces out of the way. Maybe we'll have one less game of watching his ass.

PETA upset over Six Flags promo
Considering the adverse environments a cockroach can live in, you better hope it's dead when you're swallowing it. I'm sure it'd still die within the contents of your stomach, but it'd probably move around like a bastard with half its body missing. Then there's the issue of this insect leaving your body. Arms and legs and its shell would probably be visible in the toliet. It's an ordeal I wouldn't want to go through to move up in line. I'd rather force myself to puke following the ride.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) 4)Allows for renovations and further gentrification of the city. Well, I'm certain there's a large group of people living around the proposed Olympic area who wouldn't consider this a benefit. Gentrification pushes out the poor. On a personal level, I just find it strange to look ahead to 2016 and realize I'll be 31 years old. I'd like to anticipate all the diversity of the Olympics, and how it would bring in an amazing amount of women; but then it occurs to me -- I'll be too old to work the barscene looking for European/South American athletes.- Gamethread, White Sox vs. Mariners
QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) I think The Sweaty One has put doubt in the minds of the front office with his late good outings. Will the fact that Mark throws with the left arm keep him off the trade block? If Garcia's split finger fastball is the reason for his turnaround, and these last few outtings are proof of a resurgence, I still wouldn't take a chance. Maybe another team is willing to give up more now. I would trade Buehrle and Garcia right now if we could replace 70% of their production for 1000+% of the salary. You figure McCarthy compensates for Garcia fairly well, but now what about Mark? His innings are the most difficult to make up for. Haegar could conceivably do it. He just happens to throw a knuckleball.- Gamethread, White Sox vs. Mariners
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) I've now changed my prediction that we will see either Contreras, Thome, or Buehrle have some type of major surgery this season. Contreras and Buehrle = back, and Thome = wrist. If Buehrle's back issues are enought to warrant surgery, send him off this offseason. This is only my observation, but one I'm sure hasn't went past Williams. Who cares if it's unethical? Let another general manager worry about it. The thing is, I doubt Buehrle discloses back issues in his contract year. So we'll end up paying him 9 million to put up a 5 ERA next season.- Gamethread, White Sox vs. Mariners
Ichiro really climbed up that wall, lol. I've always wanted to see a highlight of someone climbing atop a wall, standing up ontop of it, and stealing a HR.- Gamethread, White Sox vs. Mariners
Buehrle is another person I wouldn't doubt has injury issues. Like Cotts, his follow through is completely different than last season. Not concerning his arm action, but the degree to which his back arches.- Gamethread, White Sox vs. Mariners
I believe one player who'll emerge this offseason with an injury is Cotts. I don't know why it hasn't been discussed more often, but he's completely altered his delivery. Watch the postseason of last season and compare it to now. He no longer has the deception -- the sort of pump action before delivery which made his fastball appear "sneaky." You just don't abadon that without reason. When he throws now it's one continuos motion. And as we've seen with minor leaguer after minor leaguer, straight 90 mph fastballs are meat without something to offset it. I hope he's packaged this offseason with Garcia or whomever else.- Someone get this gal a sammich...
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 04:12 PM) Themselves. There body image perception isn't exactly very realistic. Referencing Karen Carpenter -- this time on a serious note -- her initial bout with Anorexia was due to a review written in the Rolling Stone which, apparently, labeled her as "chubby." I doubt it solely contributed to the illiness, but more than likely became the proverbial "straw which broke the camels back." Friends, family, her own brother criticized her lax eating habits by continually reinforcing their position she was beautiful prior to the weight-loss. It didn't work. We're our own worse critics. Walking across campus, I rarely observe women I'd suspect of an eating disorder. It's actually quite the opposite -- full and large figure women wear absurdly tight clothing. These people obviously didn't conform to the standards set forth by Cosmopolitan, or some walk-way fashion show in Milan. Even though I'm fairly skinny for my height (6'2, 170), I'd prefer a girl with "curves" over someone at risk of having a gentle breeze blow them into the atmosphere.- Someone get this gal a sammich...
That's a transformation Karen Carpenter would have been proud of. Yeah, I went there.- I have a confession to make
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 11:50 PM) Do you still eat Macaroni and Cheese all the time too? I still do. Have a problem with that?- Heart
Screw that idea. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines YAY. Guillen leaving in players to earn incentives. Watching Podsedik's next 30 AB's will be both agonizing and bittersweet. Hopefully they'll be the last 30 in a White Sox uniform. I'd also like to believe Crede's absence may allow Fields to move into 3rd, but I can't count on Guillen to follow such logic.- Heart
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) Felix, what exactly is your problem? I don't think Tizzle is rooting against this team. This team has shown nothing for over 3 months now. Why expect anything from them? No, I AM rooting against this team. I believe the sooner our playoff chances are dashed the quicker Guillen can begin inserting minor league players into the lineup. And thus, once again, I'll begin watching this ballclub. Offseason and 2007 can't come soon enough. Some people apparently can't handle anything aside from the usual, "I support this team until we're mathmatically eliminated," posts. I've just grown so irritated, so disgusted, with what I've witnessed from this team during the second half. Oakland series was enough for me. Their on-field demeanor has little to do with beliefs, but judging from the piss-poor display against Seattle, they've given up as well. I'm not supporting this group, anymore. Perhpas with a few changes they'll arrive to spring training next year not feeling as if their 2005 championship entitles them to an automatic playoff birth. Honest to God, they can lose the remaining games and it wouldn't matter to me. Did tonight's loss really hurt anyone on this site? If anyone still held an emotional attachment to this years team, you should feel devastated after the crap they layed on the field. But I doubt anyone feels this way. Fans and players alike are sleepwalking the remainder of this disappointing season.- Heart
QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) Unless you can prove to me that they are not giving any "effort" you cant say that. Did you happen to watch this evenings game?- Heart
QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) Orel Hershiser was on Baseball Tonight talking about the Sox (He did the Tigers game last night on ESPN). He mentioned that it disturbed him to see the clubhouse atmosphere and it wasn't what he'd expected out of the defending world champs....he said he noticed players making offseason plans, signs up about cleaning out lockers, etc. This was very disturbing to me considering they are not yet mathmatically eliminated But......I thought Guillen would never allow that to happen? You know, he'd just make everyone laugh and joke, then they'd suddenly begin clicking as a team.- Heart
It's losses such as tonight which only reinforces my position that I don't care how they finish this season. For the sake of entertainment, I'd rather they lose if it means more AB's -- or withour pitchers, more opportunities -- for prospects within our system. Criticize me again, but games such as tonight make it clear their heads are looking past October 1. Why should I care what they do if they themselves don't? Guillen's post-game comments: "Players should feel embarrassed for how they played. Way they played tonight was real pathetic."- Heart
I suppose this is the post game thread. Same s***, different day with this team. Not too upset about it, though. Since I've conditioned myself to except losses from yesterday onwards, I can only laugh at games such as tonight where we yet again embarrass ourselves on the field.- Flame Warriors

QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) well shouldn't you hope your favorite team wins every game, regardless of whether or not the games matter? I don't know, that's just me. and why is that some people are saying this team has quit (I'm not saying you have), yet now you want them to quit? we'll see the future of the team in 2007, and even though it is unlikely we make the playoffs (to say the least), I want our best players giving their all until we are mathematically eliminated. I guess I'm the only honest person left on Soxtalk. Someone who doesn't have to give people the impression he cares whether his favorite ballclub (to Seattle, of course) wins meaningless games. I can't even stand watching them play on TV. Thus, I'll cheer for their defeat from within Soxtalk. Next year, perhaps when they're not "tired," "battered" or any other excuse Konerko or others may use, I'll revert to cheering for them. You think we'll see the future of this team in 07'? Not if Guillen has his input.- Mariners @ Sox 7:05 PM Gamethread
