Muslim driver takes out innocent students
Flash Tizzle replied to EvilMonkey's topic in The Filibuster
Will Brando ever be allowed back? I know the reason he was intially banned, but aside from inappropriate language Brando was an inciteful poster. Unlike Dougly and Anthrax. Above all other reasons, he would be a HUGE addition to our conservative base on Soxtalk. -
It's not merely his own worthless opinions in this instance. I'm sure he enlisted help from outside sources to compile the list. If there's another website out there which suggests otherwise of our minor league system, someone can post it. Cheat, has Baseball Prospectus, Hardball Times, or any other baseball orientated website said differently?

QUOTE(Fundamentals ruined baseball @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) No such thing as an innocent student. But, yeah. What a sicko. No such thing as an innocent student... lol. Although I enjoyed your other member name--V for Venereal--better than this one. It can't be coincidence two new members within a day decided to post in the fillibuster, and within the same thread. I never heard an answer of why you were TERMINATED in the first place, so maybe someone could explain before you're removed again. Who is this person? Brando? If it is, I have a score to settle with him..... -
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) We just traded away three highly rated prospects this offseason. Shouldn't this have been expected? Yes. I don't know who's debating that point. I'm certaintly not. These rankings posted on Fox Sports merely prove the impact of losing Young and Gonzalez using a simplistic point system. Haigwood wasn't included on the list, but can't be discounted. I don't believe anyone can doubt we're in trouble short term concerning overall talent. So goes the risk when attempting to repeat as World Series champions. I'm not questioning Williams motive, so there's no need to go through a debate of "would you rather have a good system or a champsionship?" Aside from Sweeney, Owens, and possibly Fields (although all have their question marks), the depth in our system right not is not pretty. Right now being the key point. All three may be major league contributers one day, but not immediately.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5418188 I'm sure I'll hear "the method for evaluation is absurd," or, "We had the Top Rated System in 2000--how did that go?" IMO, none of the team rankings appear unreasonable. The analysis (while not BP quality) suggests trades done this season by Williams decimated our minor league system. If we reep the rewards of another World Series championship, however, none of this will matter. It's interesting to note that if you were to judge talent according to the point system provided within Perry's article, holding onto Giovanny and Young would have propelled our ranking from 27th to 8th. Even higher than my beloved Twins minor league club. Philadelphia would move down to 27th, Diamondbacks to the 2nd position. Another noteable name:

QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) Lighten up Francis. Actually I thought you were talking about Chris Gentz, LOL. Does everyone watch Malcom In the Middle, or is "lighten up francis" a term I've missed which has been around for a long time? Too many people are saying it.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 05:20 PM) Anyway, just wanted to get some other peoples' opinions on this issue (not that movie is good or not -- that's a time for another thread...or this one as long as there is no spoilers) Do you see the production of this movie as "glorifying terrorism"? You can't exclude acts of terrorism within 'V for Vendetta' from the storyline. Foxnews may suggest otherwise, but as you alluded to, the fascist government basically limits personal freedoms within the film. Portman and the masked figure are fighting a just cause. Beyond the plot, I have no idea what else happens in the movie, or to the extent the new regime controls society. I heard there are numerous Nazi comparisons. People shouldn't expect the terrorism begins because 'V' says, "hey, you illegally wiretapped my phones--now I'm going to blow up the English Parliament!"

QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) Actually I believe you really thought Broadway was lefthanded but no worries. Cirillo? Are you perhaps talking about Carrillo, the guy the Padres drafted? You can believe whatever you want to believe. I assure you I wouldn't mix up the pitching arm of a prospect I've seen myself on TV. And yes, Carrillo--Mount Carmel graduate--was the pitcher referred in my post. Although you probably knew who I was talking about regardless of the mispelling.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) Broadway's a righty. I meant "isn't" a lefthander. Soft tossing right handers are rare was supposed to be my implication.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 04:44 PM) Meanwhile, the Twins keep producing quality reliever after quality reliever because they're not afraid to draft and develop a hard throwing righty. Now you're just patronizing me. Seriously though, Twins first 2005 Draft Pick (Garza--a hardthrowing pitcher) has done well in Spring Training. Why didn't we take him instead of Broadway? Or Cirillo? Oh yeah, Broadway rose his stock the last two months of college, is a lefthander, AND--most importantly--throws beneath 90. As you said, our management shouldn't concentrate on drafting Mark Buehlre's because they're rare. Let those pitchers fall into your lap. Here's what we do from now on--find out who the Twins are scouting, then STEAL the picks from underneath their eyes. It's the only way to improve. Hire scouts to scout their scouts.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) Anyone?! Well, it didn't turn out too well after the last update you've received. Unless the White Sox came back, Texas was winning 10-8 entering the bottom of the ninth.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) When you continue to draft guys who top out at 90 mph, they're not going to have an extremely high ceiling. As we've all talked about, for every Buehrle or McCarthy, there's hundreds of pitchers who just don't have enough stuff to pitch at the big league level. Thankfully, we're spending more money now, which is the best way to assure quality pitching at the big league level. It's like speaking into a mirror.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) Man our minor leaguers suck. Of course. It's sort of disappointing when the best thing going in our minors concerning pitching is Boone Logan. Reynoso has talent, yet has inherited Marte's wildness. According to his numbers (yes, small sample) he's dominated RH and has been hit well by LH. Don't need this from a lefty at this point.
-
HA, another loss on Comcast Sports Net forthcoming. It's sort of funny though. I expected some run to cross following the missed call at first.
-
Besides Buehrle, who has pitched?

This is definitely going to begin a firestorm of controversy. I find it hilarious someone called out Sosa. No one actually NEEDS proof in the 'court' of public opinion. We have eyes for ourvselves. Most wondered about Sosa's mysterious weight gain and skyrocketing homerun totals before steroid allegations surfaced, yet dismissed it. With everything coming to light concerning BALCO, Palmiero, and other less noteable players using steroids, it's only appropriate to look back upon Scammy's career. Call it a witchhunt--Sosa deserves it. Wendell will likely be driven into the ground by apologists who'll claim he's "beginning a witchhunt," and "implicating players without proof." I'm not sure where you cited that link from Ranger, but hopefully it's ESPN. And hopefully they'll discuss it and be forced to reflect upon certain abnormalities in his career.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 07:36 AM) Mr. Former Hostage, whom are you going to believe, The US Government or your own lying eyes? Over fifteen Iranian men with long beards and similar dark features are going to look alike. -
Damn, don't know how I missed this thread. Welcome back. In case you were wondering, Dougly has been long gone. He's part of another White Sox website.

Jenks did appear to labor on the mound in his last appearance, Wednesday. I noticed his motion wasn't exactly fluid, but didn't think much of it. Nor do I now. Either it's his weight--which can be fixed--or his rustiness. If by Opening Day he isn't throwing atleast 96-97, then I'll be worried. Anyways, unless Jenks was throwing 104-105 mph on the side last year, he didn't lose 'up to 10mph.'

It's certaintly the truth, but I don't want to be reminded of it every month by the Tribune. Simlar to the fact I will die some day--I know it's true, but I'm not exactly thrilled about it. Nor do I want to be reminded. It will change eventually. I find it odd the seating for Wrigley is JUST above ours at 40,600. You wonder if beyond the increased revenue, it's to avoid a worst case scenario which may present itself one day--even IF the Cubs and Sox sellout every game, the Cubs will still retain their attendance crown.

I was thinking about Odyssey Fun Park (in Tinley) this afternoon riding the train to school. I'm sure many here on Soxtalk have fond memories of running through their gigantic tube play area. Or having everyone one of their friends' birthday parties in the facility. I got to wondering--how has the genre of Arcade games progressed in the last, I'd say, 7-8 years? Don't hear many kids anticipating the newest release of a certain arcade game like I did growing up. I recall going to Odyssey and playing their arcades on the second floor--many of which had tremendous graphics and gameplay back then. How is it now? Have the realism of video games phased them out? I don't expect arcade games mirroring reality, but there couldn't have been much of a revolution in the area of arcades in 8 years. I could honestly imagine going there and seeing all the same arcades from 1998. Probably not much money in the business anymore.

Can someone explain why V for Venereal has been banned/removed? Was he a past poster under a new identity, or did he say something? -

QUOTE(V for Venereal @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) What is it with Islam and violence? I don't get it. You've already made enemies. And surely a response which suggests "every religion has it's radical elements." Welcome aboard. Most new posters don't venture around these parts until they've been a member for awhile. -

QUOTE(samclemens @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 10:50 PM) it makes me wonder what kind of message that walking labia jimmy carter sent to iran way back when. that most certainly has a direct correlation to whats happening in iran today. the frickin iranian prez is one of the bastards that stormed our embassy, and carter allowed him to walk because carter negotiated like a b****. now hes the god damn president of iran and hes also our number one problem. thanks, jimmy! It hasn't exactly been proven he aided the embassy seige. Although in 1979 the current Iranian President was associated with a student organization which participated in the event. I recall reading an article where it was looked into by our government, and proven false. Former hostages swear to this day he was involved. Personally, I believe it's only logical to assume if there existed proof of Ahmadinejad's involvement the US would jump all over it. -
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) Another decent option would be Juan Cruz. He's probably not going to make the A's bullpen and KW and Beane have dealt quite a bit with each other. I wouldn't mind Juan Cruz. He's a hardthrowing righthander who can't possibly post numbers worst than a Backless Hermanson. I still recall his first game in the major leagues--I believe it was Dave Otto whom used the term "Little Pedro" to describe his explosiveness. It all depends on what Beane is willing to accept for Cruz. Cruz has talent and has atleast proven in Atlanta the ability to be a reliable setup man. What would he want for someone like that?
