  1. QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 30, 2009 -> 04:30 PM) I hope so. The Nazi's over at WSI kept banning me for ridiculous reasons. Hahaha. Now you can definitely stay.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) Fields has the range of a fireplug that has been sprayed by dry ice jets for 24 hours. Even your analogies are strange.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 24, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) Maybe Linebrink should have closed this one today since Bobby forgot that he had a curveball. I could understand if the conditions are poor, there is a runner at 3rd base, and Jenks has a problem with the curveball - but the first two options (atleast) weren't a factor. Even if it's the third, when has it ever stopped him before?
  4. MWAHAHAHAHAH. Even if we lose I'm still more upset with the offense. Three runs off that scrub Karstens is an embarrassment to the history of White Sox baseball. No exaggeration in that statement, either.
  5. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 24, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) why are you surprised. i am SO sick of these bulls*** uppercut swings at everything. I shouldn't be surprised, but today is a pitcher there is absolutely no excuse for not hitting. None. Bad location, bad stuff (fastball consistently in Broadway territory) and its almost as if he's begging us to hit the ball by rolling it up there. Like right there, he threw a hanging 77 mph breaking ball up in the zone and Getz couldnt do anything. That's embarrassing. It doesn't even feel like we're winning.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 24, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) 2 pitches, 2 outs for Thome against Karstens. Everyone besides CQ and Anderson has had poor ABs so far. You know, we can make excuses for pitchers, however terrible their records/stuff may be, if they're locating -- but Karsten has been TERRIBLE. It's like Kirk Sarloos out there with the amount of hanging breaking balls thrown that we seemingly can't hit.

  8. New chat room. Check it out. All of you are miserable anyways, so why not share that feeling of dread with others?
  9. No, if only for that outrageous 2013 option. Think about it logically -- is he worth that amount right now? Now, imagine four years past, when you'd expect a natural regression in his abilities due to health issues. His delivery is violent. It'll only get worse. He'll, I'd guess by 2011 we'd begin regretting the deal. I hope this rumor dies quickly. Let us finish this miserable season in peace.
  10. The reviews were spot on about Terminator Salvation, particularly about the lack of character development in anyone. It just wasn't an enjoyable movie. Even though I didn't expect much coming in, it was one of those films that despite everything I've heard about it, I had to see it for myself. I thought the entire Harvester at the gas station scene was great, but aside from that, it was incredibly dull. Is this the best that anyone could do with the material? Maybe it's just me, but I would have preferred a story that began with John and his wife inside the underground bunker at the end of T3, leading up to their arrival in the resistance. Not the alternative we're presented with. Also, and I don't know if this is a spoiler so I'll tag it:
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 21, 2009 -> 06:02 PM) I also hope that Kenny and his people do the right job and invest heavily in this draft, especially since many teams will be on budget constraints which means a team with some extra cash to spend could really really benefit by getting a great crop of potential. And for whomever said the 4 guys the Sox sending have a 2% of suceeding I'd call BS. I would be stunned if at least 1 of Richard/poreda didn't make it, let alone whomever the other two guys were. Do you mean "make it" like Lance Broadway has made it, or "make it" referring to either Poreda or Richard pitching successfully and not embarrassing the ballclub, like Broadway?
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:58 PM) Interesting, now I don't know if I'm more disappointed in not getting Peavy or not getting rid of Broadway. mwahahahah. Broadway sure gave the Padres a preview of what "his sinker" would do today.
  13. QUOTE (tommy @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) Do we know who the prospects were? Other than CR/AP Ha, funny how those two names fit together. I'd be interested too because I hadn't heard anything about the supposed prospects, other then it not being Beckham.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) Eh I said when we first heard about the option, a. he'd want it picked up, b. we wouldn't pick it up, c. we'd be nuts to pick it up. After all the hype settles, and after he declines like so many other starters (and like he's already showing in his career), we'll be happy he's doing so elsewhere and not clogging up all of our f***ing salary. That being said, just call up Poreda and let the man start. It's time to get this rebuild going. This is what I'd prefer to do as well, but you figure if the White Sox are using him as trade bait they wouldn't want anything bad happening; such as him being shelled upon a promotion to the bigs.
  15. Honestly, I wont be the least bit upset if Peavy remains in San Diego. If we were in first place, and needed an additional starter, I could understand feeling frustrated. But really, look at our team -- it isn't going anywhere. Even if Peavy is to us what Sabathia was to the Brewers last season, there is still only one dependable starter in Buehrle. Our offense is atrocious, too. I'm not going to say we'd regret trading Poreda or Richard, though. I believe, and I know others do as well, that the White Sox are looking for any opportunity to unload Poreda onto another ballclub. If you can't find a consistent secondary pitch after two years in the minors, one full season with our coaches, it just isn't going to be found magically one evening. What we'd probably regret is his salary. You can't predict how we'll be three years from now. Obviously, you can't predict his health either.
  16. Has anyone seen Terminator Salvation yet?
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) We really need to draft another Lefty. Even then, how long will it be before that lefthander helps out the team? What amazes me is that in the ENTIRE...f***ING...SYSTEM...there's not one situational lefthander? Honestly? Not one pitcher? That's just pathetic for us. Considering how good our A, AA pitching is, there has to be one.
  18. QUOTE (Krivanka @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) Heh, I honestly did not think anyone knew me. I don't, really. What I remember most about you is when you used to have that avatar a long time ago, from a movie, of a woman having her eye slit open with a knife.
  19. His role is as a situational lefthander, and if he's incapable of retiring Mauer (or anyone else) then he's useless. Time for his career to end.
  20. Damn, I haven't seen Krivanka around in a LONG time. It's probably time to update the signature...
  21. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) And I said it before, we need to get that guy on soxtalk. Dammit, I'm too late for my comments to be viewed as original and fresh.
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) I said it before, some of you should really eat crow for bashing the original poster on the main site about this deal earlier. I'd definitely petition for that MLB forums poster to join soxtalk. He obviously has some inside connections.
  23. Jesus Christ, and here I assumed they were going to play at 7:00 and just signed on here to view information on Jake Peavy. Although I can't say I'm shocked. Colon obviously didn't have it, but whenever you're expecting Bombs Away Broadway and Gobble to prevent anything but more runs you're going to be in trouble. The sooner Broadway's ass is sent out of the town the sooner we can go through this same process with McCulloch.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 20, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) You said signing players this offseason was financial suicide for the White Sox. Now picking up Peavy makes a lot of financial sense? For some reason, I don't buy this rumor at all. I guarantee if the Sox were to trade for Peavy, they're including a haul of players that would it make worthy of San Diego to pay for a portion of his salary. I wouldn't be surprised if we "overpay" for him, if this rumor is true. Look at his contract -- no way we're going to pay over 18 million for a pitcher unless there's a good amount lobbed off of it.
