SOX v. Blue Jays 4/24, 7:11 PM, CSN+
I don't know why Ramirez even attempted to put it in his glove. If he wants to make that play he has to bare hand it. You're not going to have enough time to make the transfer from glove to hand and then throwing it to first in time.

Has anyone ever heard Egbert talk? Does he have that annoying Staten Island accent?

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) That was a rotten display of hitting with RISP. Dye swung at a pitch near his head. And before that one in the left hand hitters box. I'd really like to see Tornoto's hitters that impatient, swinging at two straight bad pitches well out of the zone with RISP and 2 outs.

This is the part of the game where Dye hits a fly ball that, had it been less than 2 outs, would have scored Anderson.

Well, the benefit of Thome here is its unlikely he'll GIDP. I'll accept a K from him.

I swear, these last two games if you want to get our hitters out throw a fastball right down the middle. They just can't hit it.

Eaton looked TERRIBLE that first inning. We should kill him this game, he breaking pitches were hanging left and right.

2016 Olympics Discussion
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 07:49 AM) Seriously. And Rio is a lightweight bid with crime problems that make Chicago's look like nothing. Tokyo bids every damn cycle, Japan had the winter olympics just a few years ago and the summer olympics were just completed in that region. Everything I have seen and heard tells me that Chicago is the far and away leader in this thing, right now. Chicago does have the special problem of needing to obtain a lot more private financing, because we are the only country that doesn't directly fund the bids - but I think those will continue flowing in enough to make it work. Rio de Janeiro (2006) -- 37.7 murders per 100,000 Chicago (2006) -- ~15 murders per 100,000 Look at some of this other information: 2006 -- 1,060 criminals were killed in Rio by the police. In a city roughly double the size of Chicago 2006 -- 347 criminals were killed by the police in the entire USA. I'm sure the disparity would only extend further if other crime rates are taken into consideration. I'm also going to guess, even without proof, that their corruption issues make ours look tame.

White Sox (4-4) @ Tampa Bay Rays (4-5), April 16, 6:08 CDT
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 08:24 PM) He wasn't dogging it, he just can't run anymore. Yes sir. Watch him chase down routine fly outs for any other fielder, like the one to end the bottom of the 7th. He's not just "taking big strides which appear to make him run slow," either

Are We Looking to Trade for a CF'er?
You know, I'm just tired of former White Sox players returning, or being rumored to return. I don't care if Rowand is had for practically nothing, I'm just sick of these discussions. "(Insert former player) would look good, here. " " How about (Insert former player)?" "I would have (insert former player) if for cheap." If you've experienced any sort of success with the White Sox recently, it's almost inevitable you'll be rumored at some point to return. Move on, White Sox. It's like the asshole who continues dating ex-girlfriends. They're out of your life, move on.

And That's a White Sox Winner !
QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) The next series against the Twinkies is in May and in Chicago. We need to take at least 2 of 3. The next 9 games against them are in that s***hole dome. I really hope the culture around this team and the Metrodome changes this year. It DISGUSTS me to hear people talk about that place as if it's cursed. Or impossible to win in. I don't want to hear any quotes from anyone that resembles a defeatist attitude (ie, we'll be lucky to win one). I'll never forget how pitiful it was being around Soxtalk, and just listening to the White Sox become little girls at the discussion of the Dome late in the season. I remember a few weeks before, when we were looking ahead to that series (and realizing it'd probably mean something), Hawk was saying -- "we better have a 3+ game lead in the standings because we cant win down there." You know damn well the entire team thought this. Sure enough, we were swept. It needs to stop. It's embarrassing to listen to.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 05:37 AM) second half of last year...2.74 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, K/9 of almost 9, K/BB of 3? Mediocre? yeah, mediocre. hopefully he's just as mediocre when he faces the Sox in July. First off, without the additional velocity he 'looks' mediocre. This obviously isn't the same pitcher of the past. Our team doesn't hit around 2006 Liriano like this. Secondly, unless FOX had issues with the radar readout he never exceeded 91mph. Last season he was consistently around 94-95 in the second half.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 06:57 PM) Did I miss something where they proved that Pujols has taken HGH or has he failed a drug test recently? Under my system you're guilty until I decide otherwise. Pujols = HGH.

Good job from the offense. This obviously isn't the same Liriano of the past. In fact, he looks rather mediocre now. I guess it won't difficult anymore to answer the question of"Where's our Liriano," because it seems he has become a #3/#4 starter with 6 mph knocked off his fastball.

Welcome to the White Sox, Colon. You'll now have the inability to pitch over mistakes.
