QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) The past failures of traded prospects shouldn't be a compliment to Williams, but a detriment to our system. I'll admit now I was very upset Williams gave up Morse, Reed, and Olivo for Garica. But due to Garica's pitching in the playoffs, regardless of how those three finish their careers, it was worth it. In a few years, who knows? Perhaps Haigwood and Gonzalez are both fixtures in the Phillies rotation while we're inserting jobber 4th/5th starters from the waiver wire. I simply don't like how both prospects were included. The package Williams provided is one I'd expect from a HEALTHY Thome. Not one removed from a terrible, godawful, injury ridden season. Let's hope he's healthy this year. i understand exactly where you are coming from, but I have a different take on this. When is our window to repeat as world series champions? This year and maybe next year. KW is willing to sacrifice a bit of our "possible" future, to strengthen our team for this upcoming season. He's continuing his "win now" attitude he had at the beginning of last year, and honestly I have no problem with that.

how are miguel olivo and jeremy reed doing? Freddy garcia was a huge part of our WORLD SERIES team. Olivo and reed were both highly touted prospects as well and both have turned out to be big dissapointments. I'd do prospects for a guy like thome everytime.

he really doesn't look good in red.

QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) seriously we need to work on the offense majorly if we plan to have any chance in the Big 10 this year it's just going to be a matter of the young guys settling into the offense. The motion offense we run is all about being comfortable in it and having experience with it. We should have all expected these bumps early on this season. -

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) ask yourselves this question: if you just won the WS with a bunch of guys that rolled thru the division and then went 11-1 in the playoffs DO YOU NEED TO GET RID OF ANYONE THAT WAS AN INTEGRAL PART? I SAY HELL NO! I will say it again you gotta know when is the time to NOT try to make the team better and just leave things the way they are... At least wait until the all-star break! truth is, alot of guys had career years last year......and we had alot of luck on our side. I guarantee if we kept everything the same we probably wouldn't win the world series again........or even win the division. -
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Me neither. Great video. I wish they showed AJ's walkoff against the Dodgers during the highlight credits. i'm hoping the other dvd's that will be coming out: a) have a month by month overview of the entire season and B) have a little bit more drawn out, extended version of each playoff game. But i understand this is just the official MLB playoff one and it was very well done, can't wait to get it.

QUOTE(phillychuck @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) I'd like to thank all you guys for posting over at philliesphans. It's great to hear what intelligent fans of other teams think about trades. No trolls at all, my compliments to the quality of your posters. I think the folks who call it a portential win-win where nether GM gave up anything he couldn't replace are right on the mark. It will be very interesting for us to see if Rowand gets flipped for quality starting pitching, which we could use, or if Michaels or Victorino hits the road. Many of us would be happy rotating five outfielders (Abreu, Burrell, Rowand, Victorino, Michaels) if one of them could help take RH first-base ABs. Thanks again, and keep stopping by! i now have a new favorite NL team. The cardinals dropped the ball for me last year (long story, involved world series tickets).

QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Nov 24, 2005 -> 07:06 AM) Y didn't we get rid of our only problem for last season, Marte. Kenny should have seen if they wanted Borchard and Marte for Thome. wat u guys think Phillies GM: So you want Jim Thome? KW: Yes Phillies GM: Ok, just give me your 2 worst players and we'll call it a deal. KW: Yay
