IF THERE'S SO MANY OF US, HOW COME ATTENDANCE BLOWS !@$u!@$)(u!%@!%o(u!%oi!u$@ THEY SHOULD MOVE THE TEAM.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) that was an excused personal reason. you don't know the whole story for this, none of us do. so until you do, there's no reason to start a thread like this. Marte has been below his average, yes.......but why exactly should we cut an above average left handed reliever again? no, seriously, answer this.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Yes, I know. That's why I said something about people who still like the Simpsons in the post before that. oops, definitely totally misread your post don't mind me

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Game 7 of the '97 playoffs.... Stupid Calc test. If that didn't go to extras, I would have missed the entire thing. if it's a home game and i somehow get tickets, i'm going to flip.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Well, if you just wanted to watch it for the sake of football and didn't care about the outcome, it was one of the best games on in a while. ^ yeah, i wanted texas to win, but if they lossed, oh well, what i wanted more was a good game and that game had everything for a nonpartial fan. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) And I wanted to add one great quote from the Simpsons. Homer: Clemens, did I make the team? Clemens: You sure did! Homer: I did? Woohoo! In your face, Strawberry. Clemens: Wait a minute, Are you Ken Griffey Jr.? Homer: No. Clemens: Sorry, didn't mean to get your hopes up. that's old simpsons, which are awesome. the new ones are god awful, that's what everyone is complaining about.

LETS PUT ANOTHER SHRIMP ON THE BARBEY ......goes back into corner.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 02:12 PM) Maybe--just a thought, here--we can make two, HUGE, ENORMOUS, ALL-ENCOMPASSING Soxtalk Optimism/Soxtalk Pessimism threads. that's every thread. but yes, i agree, something needs to be done

i remember seeing this before, either way, a very captivating site.

I just found out i have a night exam on october 5th, which would be game 2 of the playoffs. somehow i knew this was coming.
-
earlier this season, i wanted PK gone. I just thought he didn't fit in with the mold of this team. Now you gotta realize that he is on the only semi-consistent offensive presence in the middle of this lineup. I think if the price is right, you gotta keep him.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Wow, take a chill pill. Im just wondering why you have to be a fan of a team that is in contention of a championship. Does that mean in other sports you feel the same? I think you need some sort of a connection to a team to be a fan, otherwise, yes you are a bandwagon fan. Its the same reason everyone likes the yankees, red sox, and cubs. They want to be a fan of a team that may win the title. I think you can be a major fan of one team and have a semi-rooting interest in other, no matter what sport. Yeah, sorry if i came off strong, i had just gotten back from a bad class

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) I guess in my old age, I just have attained perspective. Yeah I want to see the Sox win every game, but with a new house, a baby on the way, and everything else going on, a baseball game just isn't worth getting that upset about. This year has really helped me to remember that this is a game. I watch and play games for enjoyment, and it if I don't get something positive out of it, it is a waste of time. If I got upset and stressed over it, what is the point in watching it? can you adopt me? ... :headshake

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) IL is a big school. Do you pick another school just cause you want to win? thats sort of being a bandwagon fan isnt it? um, no? Yes, ILL is by far my team in everything, but in football, they are never in the running for a championship. This thread is about what bigtime college football programs do you root for? You don't have to be a major fan of them, but you have to have some favorite of the USC's, michigan's of the world. I don't live and die by a texas win or do i even give it much thought, but they're a fun team to watch and out of all the choices this season, i'd like them to win it. So if you want to go along with that attitude, then everyone in this thread is a bandwagoner.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) Now this is exactly what has been missing from a lot of people lately, and that is the enjoyment and love of the game. So many people have been hung up on the results, that they forget to enjoy the moment. Baseball is a 3 hour vacation from the rigors and stresses of life. To be able to experience the love of the game is truely a blessing. you're such a hippy sometimes
-
I had this discussion earlier, thought it might make a decent thread. We all have our primary teams, our alma maters, etc. But what "big" college football team do you root for? USC, notre dame, michigan, etc.... I'm a closet longhorns fan.

i could make a comment, but i'll just say............cool day.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) Also, my feeling for the last few months was that if this team didn't make the playoffs, I honestly wouldn't be upset. If you can't make the playoffs with the leads we've had, you flat out don't deserve to make it. There was a time a few months ago where i thought "what would be my reaction if the sox won the world series?", now my thoughts are, "what would be my reaction if the sox miss the playoffs?" Oh, how times have changed.
-
That was probably the best "new" family guy i've seen.
-
thank god we're not playing the indians next, we would be outscored 115-1. 1 run being a willie harris solo home run.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) You're preaching to the choir on this one. I've been laughed at all season cause I said the Sox hadn't clinched anything yet. yeah, how dare i think a team that's 15.5 games up in early august would have trouble clinching? For once, i had faith that this was something special, and the sox let me down.
